Abstract

Rice is one of the most important cultivated plants for human survival. The activity of cultivating rice plants becomes a livelihood for most of these residents, so the success rate of the amount of rice harvested becomes very important because they depend on how much rice can be harvested, disease diagnosis is very important for farmers, this is very important to reduce economic losses due to diseases that cause crop failure. Therefore, when dealing with rice diseases, an expert is needed to make diagnoses or solutions to rice diseases. However, an expert does not know when to come to the village, and farmers also do not understand all rice diseases. Therefore, a web-based expert system application using the forward chaining method is proposed to represent an expert to help farmers diagnose and solve diseases of rice plants with existing symptoms.

Abstract

In construction projects, inadequate implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OHSMS) poses risks to the safety and well-being of workers, resulting in decreased performance and compromised project quality. This study focuses on the Kapas-Glendeng bridge widening project in Bojonegoro Regency, identifying key obstacles such as workforce competence, limited experience, insufficient training, and challenges accessing digital information. Additionally, issues related to worker involvement in regulation-making, understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), reporting procedures, and documentation of work accidents were observed. To address these challenges, the study recommends strategies such as involving untrained workers in competence-building programs, providing apprenticeships for less experienced personnel, implementing comprehensive training information systems, actively engaging workers in project planning, enforcing OHS monitoring systems, ensuring mandatory PPE usage with penalties for violations, and establishing clear procedures for recording and reporting work accidents. This proactive approach aims to enhance OHS implementation and mitigate risks in construction projects.

Abstract

As one of the largest cities in Indonesia, the City of Surabaya has an obligation to provide excellent health services for its residents. Consequently, the Surabaya City Government is required to provide a general hospital that can receive referrals from the government-owned Community Health Centers. To fulfill this obligation, the Surabaya City Government built the East Surabaya Hospital, located in the Rungkut Sub-District. East Surabaya Hospital is a strategic project that necessitates an investment feasibility analysis. This analysis was conducted using the Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PP), and Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR) parameters. Following the feasibility analysis, a sensitivity analysis was performed to examine changes in management costs and the health service levy rates for each tariff alternative. Based on the investment feasibility analysis of four tariff alternatives, two alternatives—alternative 1 and alternative 3—were deemed worthy investments. In contrast, alternatives 2 and 4 were found to be unfeasible, as the NPV parameter showed negative values and the IRR value was lower than the Minimum Acceptable Rate of Return (MARR). However, the sensitivity analysis indicated that alternatives 2 and 4 could become feasible if alternative 2’s management cost is reduced by 14.4% and alternative 4’s management cost is reduced by 2.8%. Conversely, alternative 1 might become unfeasible if the management cost increases by 7%, and alternative 3 might become unfeasible if the management cost increases by 3.1%.

Abstract

The wheat silo and pellet silo structural repair project Phase III in Surabaya holds great significance for the wheat flour processing industry in Indonesia. PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk Bogasari Surabaya Division, as one of the leading wheat flour producers, required structural repairs on both silos to ensure the smooth operation of the plant and the quality of the final product. Given the importance of time and cost in the success of this project, an effective approach to time and cost management was essential. The project necessitates proper project management to avoid delays and cost overruns, with a budget of IDR 28,011,000,000 and an estimated duration of 455 calendar days. This research employs the Time Cost Trade Off (TCTO) method to analyze options for accelerating project time by considering additional costs that may arise. Microsoft Project software is utilized to identify the critical path, allowing project managers to focus on activities with the greatest impact on the overall schedule. The results indicate that the critical path of the project includes activities such as mobilization and demobilization, administration and reporting, work safety, and repair of the old grain silo. By using TCTO, the project completion time can be accelerated to 359 days from 455 days, reducing the duration by 21.10%.
