Abstract

This study aims to analyze optimism in coronary heart patients and analyze the optimism of coronary heart patients based on gender differences. This type of research is survey research with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were coronary heart disease patients who had been clinically diagnosed by a doctor and were undergoing outpatient care at RSUD Arifin Achmad Pekanbaru, with a total of 213 people, and the number of samples in this study was 139 people. Data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential data analysis using t-test. The results showed that there were differences in optimism from the gender of coronary heart patients. So that these findings are useful for the development of the science of positive psychology in the context of coronary heart patients.

Abstract

Long before the development of technology, in the world of education the learning media used has not developed rapidly. Educators are required to increase student interest in learning by using modern technology media. Learning media is a technology that carries messages that can be used for learning purposes and is a communication to convey subject matter. Learning technology is utilization, management to facilitate the learning process. The purpose of this study is to determine the application of learning media and technology that can increase student interest in learning, especially in schools. This research uses Quantitative research by conducting online surveys and in-depth interviews with school teachers. The results of this study explain that there are several applications that are used as media for learning, one of which is YouTube. The conclusion of this study explains that there are many technologies or applications that can be utilized to increase student interest in learning. The limitation of this research is that researchers only collect information related to applications that can be utilized to increase student interest in learning, researchers hope that future researchers can develop learning media applications as a tool to help teachers and students in the learning and teaching process

Abstract

Academic performance problems that are still rampant in various boarding schools are often triggered by students' lack of active participation and confidence in their academic abilities. This study aims to analyze the effect of academic self-efficacy on academic performance with student engagement as a mediator for students in Islamic boarding schools. The method in this study is quantitative research with an ex-post facto approach. The sample in this study was determined using multistage random sampling technique with a total of 308 student. The instruments used in this study were academic self-efficacy scale with dimensions of level, generality, and strength, student engagement scale with dimensions of emotional engagement, cognitive engagement, and behavioural engagement, and academic performance measured by referring to report card data. The data obtained were analysed quantitatively using the PROCESS v4.2 macro of the Hayes 4 model through the SPSS Version 25 application. The results of this study indicate that academic self-efficacy, student engagement, and academic performance of students in boarding schools are positively related, and student engagement acts as a mediator between academic self-efficacy and academic performance. Students with high self-efficacy are more confident in learning can solve problems more effectively and are more engaged in learning, thus improving academic achievement.

Abstract

This pioneering study endeavors to paint a vivid portrait of optimism among physics undergraduate students pursuing studies abroad, illuminating the multifaceted dimensions of their academic and personal journey. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research delves deep into the lived experiences of five purposively sampled participants, unraveling the intricate interplay between optimism, self-confidence, and social support networks. Through semi-structured interviews, the study unveils a compelling narrative of resilience and determination, as physics students abroad exhibit unwavering optimism in navigating the challenges inherent in their academic pursuits. Notably, participants demonstrate a profound sense of self-assurance, fostering a supportive environment characterized by mutual respect and camaraderie among peers. Moreover, the study sheds light on the pivotal role of external support systems, ranging from familial encouragement to mentorship from teachers, in bolstering students' resolve and fortitude. By focusing on physics undergraduate students hailing from Indonesia and studying across diverse international landscapes, this research offers a novel lens through which to understand the transformative power of optimism in transcending geographical and cultural boundaries. As such, the findings underscore the critical importance of fostering an optimistic mindset among students embarking on international academic endeavors, advocating for tailored support mechanisms that nurture self-efficacy, self-esteem, and social connectedness. Ultimately, this study serves as a clarion call for educational institutions and support service providers to prioritize holistic strategies aimed at cultivating and sustaining optimism among physics undergraduates pursuing studies abroad, thereby empowering them to thrive in the face of adversity and realize their full academic potential.

Abstract

Background. The results of observing the abilities of students at this school, it can be seen that grade 5 students at SD Negeri 122395 Pematangsiantar have the basic skills to master the use of English well. Purpose. This study aimed to investigate the importance of giving socialization to the students about basic skills that the students need to acquire in learning English well. Method. This ability can be seen from the speed of students in understanding and responding to learning that has been socialized. Grade 5 students of SD Negeri 122395 Pematangsiantar consisting of 20 students are the subject of this observation. This socialization was conducted at SD Negeri 122395 Pematang Siantar. Three phases were implemented such as preparation, implementation and evaluation. Results. The results showed that importance of building English skills starts from elementary school. Interesting learning methods can also build student activity and skills in the learning process that takes place in the classroom. Conclusion. This is also based on the communication skills that students get in the learning process, not only limited to knowledge, students will be motivated and feel that what they have learned will be useful and used in the future..
