Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not there are differences in student perceptions of the Physics Mathematics I e-module product on vector material based on gender differences. This type of research is quantitative research with descriptive statistical analysis techniques and inferential analysis. The target of this research is the students of the Physics Education Study Program at the University of Jambi, class of 2019, which consists of three classes, namely Regular A, Regular B, and Regular C with a research sample of 90 students using simple random sampling. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and used normality, homogeneity, and ANOVA tests where the significance was more than or equal to 0.05. The results of the ANOVA test showed that there were differences in perceptions based on gender with a significance value of 0, 037 in women and 0.022 in men. Furthermore, in the post hoc test or Gabriel's further test, it showed that in class A and B with a significance of 0.047 for the female gender. While the male gender in class A and C has a significant difference with a significance value of 0.033. Compared to male gender, women have more dominant differences due to biological factors, where women use their emotions as opposed to men whose thoughts are more realistic.

Abstract

Mathematics physics is often considered by students as a very difficult subject to learn, one of the causes that makes this happen is the lack of learning media that supports students. In addition, most of the existing media use foreign languages, so that in this case Indonesian language learning media is needed, namely the mathematical physics e-module on vector material which is then seen from student responses based on gender differences. This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the mathematics physics e-module and to analyze students' perceptions based on gender differences in the mathematics physics e-module. This type of research is survey-based research with a quantitative approach. The population of this study was physics education students who contracted mathematical physics with a sample of 80 students. The instrument used in this study was a student perception questionnaire with 15 questions and an interview sheet with 10 questions. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential data analysis using t-test. The results showed that overall students had a positive perception with a perception value of 60% in the very good category and 40% in the good category, whereas when viewed from the gender difference, male students had a perception value of 76.6% in the very good category and 23, 3% in the good category, for female students 50% in the very good category and 50% in the good category. That is, students with gender differences have striking differences in perceptions. Student perceptions can be used as a determining factor in the selection of open materials. From the results, it can be seen that gender differences can help in assessing the products made so that they will support the learning process and increase student learning motivation.

Abstract

Empathy is crucial for individuals to interact well with others, but it has been declining among teenagers. This decline has led to increased bullying and antisocial behavior. This study aims to examine empathy in adolescents in terms of parenting, peer social support, and gender. The study involved 176 samples using a cluster random sampling technique, which included all 11th-grade students of SMA 11 Jambi City. The research follows a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression tests and independent sample T-tests to compare empathy based on gender. The results showed that authoritarian parenting affects empathy by 0.8%, democratic parenting affects empathy by 5.8%, permissive parenting affects empathy by 4.7%, peer social support significantly affects empathy by 27.9%, and overall parenting and peer social support together influence empathy by 71.9%. A comparison of empathy by gender found that women scored higher than men, with a mean difference of 1.43 and a significance of 0.005, indicating a significant difference. The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of how gender differences also impact adolescent empathy, which can help parents optimize their parenting and create a positive peer environment for adolescents in order to foster empathy within them.

Abstract

Academic performance problems that are still rampant in various boarding schools are often triggered by students' lack of active participation and confidence in their academic abilities. This study aims to analyze the effect of academic self-efficacy on academic performance with student engagement as a mediator for students in Islamic boarding schools. The method in this study is quantitative research with an ex-post facto approach. The sample in this study was determined using multistage random sampling technique with a total of 308 student. The instruments used in this study were academic self-efficacy scale with dimensions of level, generality, and strength, student engagement scale with dimensions of emotional engagement, cognitive engagement, and behavioural engagement, and academic performance measured by referring to report card data. The data obtained were analysed quantitatively using the PROCESS v4.2 macro of the Hayes 4 model through the SPSS Version 25 application. The results of this study indicate that academic self-efficacy, student engagement, and academic performance of students in boarding schools are positively related, and student engagement acts as a mediator between academic self-efficacy and academic performance. Students with high self-efficacy are more confident in learning can solve problems more effectively and are more engaged in learning, thus improving academic achievement.

Abstract

Positive education is an implementation of positive psychology which is a study related to happiness and well-being, namely using the PERMA model developed by Seligman in 2011. In the context of education, positive psychology has had a positive impact with the emergence of positive education which has even been adapted by Indonesia's new curriculum, namely Merdeka Belajar. In positive education, our goal is not only to improve student achievement in terms of cognitive and student skills, but how well-being and positive character of students are also a big consideration in order to increase Indonesian students' interest in learning. Not only the teacher's efforts but students have also been introduced to Positive Psychology in order to explore the positive character strengths of students. Future researchers can certainly examine more deeply the use of independent learning in the long term and how it affects learning in schools, especially learning physics.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze the role of the Flo application as a digital educational media based on AI in improving adolescent knowledge, attitudes, and behavior related to reproductive health in the era of modern technology. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical method to explore the experiences, perceptions, and impacts of using the Flo application on adolescents in the context of reproductive health education. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, questionnaires, observations, and documentation studies. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, while data analysis was carried out with a thematic approach for qualitative data and descriptive statistics for quantitative data. Main Findings: The results showed that the Flo app was effective in increasing adolescents' understanding of reproductive health, with the majority of respondents feeling more confident in managing their menstrual cycles and maintaining their health. The most appreciated features were cycle prediction and daily symptom logs. Although the app had a positive impact, there were obstacles such as limited access to premium features and difficult-to-understand medical terms. Overall, the Flo app was well received by users and showed potential for further development. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study offers novelty by exploring the role of the Flo app that uses AI to predict menstrual cycles and provide personalized reproductive health education content. Unlike previous studies, this study leverages an app that is already widely available, opening up opportunities to develop a more relevant and effective digital education platform for adolescents.

Abstract

This research is the first research derived from applied science in the field of public health to explore gender differences in levels of toxic positivity in adolescents. Toxic positivity is defined as the overgeneralization and ineffectiveness of happy and optimistic states in all situations resulting in the denial, minimization, and invalidation of authentic human emotional experiences. The research sample consisted of male and female teenagers aged 18-24. Data was collected through a questionnaire that measures the level of toxic positivity based on responses related to positivity and behavior that can ignore or override negative emotions. The results show that there is a significant difference between male and female adolescents in the level of toxic positivity. Adolescent girls tend to show lower levels of toxic positivity than adolescent boys. These findings indicate that adolescent girls are more likely to acknowledge and manage their negative emotions more openly than adolescent boys. This study provides important insights into gender differences in the context of toxic positivity in adolescents. The results can be used to develop more targeted interventions and approaches to help adolescents manage their emotions healthily and constructively. The novelty of this research is that it introduces a new measure of toxic positivity that can capture the subtle and complex ways in which people cope with their emotions. This study also contributes to the literature on gender and emotion regulation by highlighting differences in patterns and consequences of toxic positivity among male and female adolescents.
