Marriage traditions in Indonesia are rules regarding marriage based on the customs that exist in Indonesia. This wedding procession has its own customs in each region. This tradition is usually carried out by predecessors or ancestors in the area, so that marriage traditions in Indonesia have different forms. Unfortunately, now traditional marriage traditions have begun to fade with the times. The fading of existing culture is due to increasingly popular technological sophistication, so that people are more interested in the existence of the virtual world rather than preserving existing traditional culture. However, there is still a marriage tradition that persists in Indonesia, namely the marriage tradition of nek ngemanis in Pisang Hamlet, Kelapa Regency. This research aims to analyses the nek ngemanis marriage tradition in maintaining its existence through the Lasswell model of communication patterns. This qualitative research uses case study methodology with in-depth interviews and documentation as data collection methods. The results of the research prove that the nek ngemanis marriage tradition still survives today because there is an effective communication process in society by applying the Laswell communication pattern, namely who says what in which channel to whom with what effect. Based on these communication patterns, it was found that there are five important elements in communication, namely the communicator, message, communicant, media, and reciprocal effects. So, the results of this research show that the message conveyed and the inherent meaning of the nek ngemanis marriage tradition still exists amidst the current popularity of sophisticated technology.

Abstract

News is not only about news value but news packaging that adheres to journalistic ethics and prioritizes media credibility as independent and trustworthy media. In practice, the media often prioritizes profit, resulting in a relaxation in applying the code of ethics in its writing. Bangkapos as a commercial media, presents a variety of informative and educative news. However, in the celebrity news column, especially female celebrities, based on the results of the analysis, media researchers do not apply the journalistic code of ethics in articles 4 and 8. Abstract

Citizen Journalism is a journalistic activity that is no longer foreign in today's digital era. Becoming a citizen who is able to write news by prioritizing journalistic code of ethics and compliance with the code of ethics itself is not an easy thing to do, especially if the citizen does not have a background in communication science or journalism education. However, in reality there is still a lot of news content displayed by the mass media that comes purely from citizen writings, without going through the editing process. This seems to be considered trivial by certain media owners because the media gatekeeper function does not work and does not cross-check the citizen's writings, resulting in a lot of hoax news or misleading information. Through a qualitative descriptive literature review approach, this study aims to compare citizen journalism activities in mass media in Indonesia and South Korea. The focus of this study lies in the practice of citizen journalism in Kompasiana and Ohmynews. The results of this study found that hoax news was still found in Kompasiana written by citizens. Kompasiana does not carry out its gatekeeper function properly. The writings that appear in Kompasiana are entirely the responsibility of the author himself. This means that Kompasiana is not responsible for the content that is published. This of course causes the credibility of the media to decline. This is very different from the online media Ohmynews, a media from South Korea. Overall, the content in Ohmynews comes purely from the writings of its citizens. However, it is not easy for the media to publish it. Citizens must pass several strict selections required by Ohmynews. One of them is that they must follow the Ethic Code and Citizen Reporter Agreement so that their writings are published in the media. So it can be ascertained that the impact is to reduce hoax news and increase the credibility of the media. Therefore, the indicator of the achievement of the success of a mass media that carries out its educational function can be observed through the compliance of professional journalists and citizen journalists who prioritize the principles of the journalistic code of ethics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of public relations (PR) in several higher education institutions in Bangka Belitung, using Dozier and Broom’s public relations role theory as the main framework. The research focuses on how PR functions in the prevention and handling of sexual harassment cases, as well as its role in maintaining institutional image and crisis communication. The findings reveal a diverse spectrum of PR roles across institutions. Atma Luhur University and other institutions without formal PR units still limit PR functions to communication technician and communication facilitator. STIKES Citra Delima and STIE IBEK demonstrate more advanced roles, yet remain confined to technical and facilitation aspects without strategic involvement. STIE Pertiba exhibits a stronger role, functioning as both problem solving facilitator and expert prescriber in handling sexual harassment cases. Meanwhile, Polman Negeri Bangka Belitung represents the most comprehensive model, where PR performs across all role spectrums from technical tasks and facilitation to problem solving and strategic policy advising. This study concludes that the effectiveness of PR roles in higher education is strongly influenced by institutional structure, policy frameworks, and the recognition of PR as a strategic actor by university leadership.
