Abstract

This study aims to explore a number of empirical data in order to analyze the phenomenon of crime and the process of forming the social identity of motorcycle gangs as socio-psychological and socio-cultural symptoms in the current landscape of youth crime. This type of qualitative research with a constructivist paradigm with a socio-psychological and socio-cultural approach found a number of facts, that the phenomenon of motorcycle gangs—whose members are mostly inhabited by gen z’ (teenagers aged 15-23 years)—has long experienced a shift in orientation/ behavior as a result of the influence of the internal and external environment. This shift has resulted in a number of symbolic constructions where motorcycle gangs are perceived as entities that create chaos, initiate violence, commit crimes, spread antisocial attitudes, and seek sensation. Study findings: there are theoretical difficulties in finding a positive self-concept in the majority of motorcycle gang members whose orientation and behavior (empirically) have been infected by symbols of intolerant and antisocial group identities; and suffer from traumatic symptoms, psychosis, phobias, schizophrenia, bipolar, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to search a number of data, documents and literature to explore cyber crimes which are not only economically motivated, but also have political tendencies. Various cases of data hacking carried out by regional and global hackers and crackers have positioned cyber space as an arena for aggressive political contestation that has shaken the foundations of political, military, defense, security and intelligence life. The concept of cybersecurity is currently projected to protect national interests/sovereignty (cyberdefence) through developing cyberwar and cyberdiplomacy strategies to overcome the increasingly intense threat of cybercrime. This qualitative study using a descriptive analysis method based on a literature study approach tries to analyze the political tendencies underlying the motives for cybercrime, both at the global and national levels. The results of the study show: cyber space in many countries (including Indonesia) has been transformed into an arena of aggression and a realm of political contestation which—if not anticipated through breakthroughs and extra efforts—has the potential to thwart Indonesia in safeguarding its national interests, maintaining the sovereignty of its citizens from cyber threats, and it is difficult to expose Indonesia's national diplomatic capabilities in responding to cyber crimes that continue to move wildly. Keywords: Cybercrime, political tendencies, cyber diplomacy, cyber security, cyber defense, cyber war ABSTRAK Studi ini bertujuan melakukan penelusuran sejumlah data, dokumen, dan literatur untuk mengeksplor kejahatan dunia maya yang tak hanya bermotif ekonomis, namun juga bertendensi politis. Kata-kata Kunci: Kejahatan dunia maya, tendensi politik, diplomasi siber, keamanan siber, pertahanan siber, perang siber

Abstract

The Indonesian prostitution industry is a historical phenomenon that has long historical roots. This phenomenon can be traced from the era of feudalism, colonialism to the era of independence. In the era of feudalism, women were positioned mythologically in a casteistic social system and patriarchal cultural format. This mythical construction succeeded in fully legitimizing the patriarchal and casteist system in controlling the image of women as subaltern entities. In the Dutch colonial era, the practice of commodification and commercialization of prostitutes was still limited by the supremacy of European values of rationalism, humanism and liberalism. Prostitutes are still seen as legal subjects who must be protected. Meanwhile, in the era of Japanese colonialism, the commodification and commercialization of prostitutes was more sadistic and brutal. In chauvinistic fascistic regimes such as Japan, women are not only seen as sexual objects, but as sex slaves. In the academic realm, the phenomenon of the prostitution industry will always be relevant to study. This is because various structural problems still surround prostitutes. Negotiating legal status, redefining the legality of the profession, articulating civil, political and socio-cultural rights, and reconstructing its existence as an informal economic sector that contributes to supporting the rate of national economic growth, are some of the academic questions that must be considered.

Abstract

Abstract

This study seeks to examine the behavior of Gen Z from an alternative point of view, that Gen Z also has positive life attitudes and behaviors, which cannot be labeled as impulsive and panic. Through qualitative analysis with a phenomenological approach and virtual ethnography, this study concludes that as an entity that grew up under the influence of virtual ecology and digital ecosystem, theoretically Gen Z has unique attitudes and behaviors, namely social awareness, political views, and alignment with sensitive public issues, not just impulsive, panic, hedon, and consumptive. Understanding Gen Z's perspective, challenges, and optional ideas-sometimes critical-idealistic, but sometimes taking quick and practical solutions-will help us understand Gen Z's psychographic dynamics more fully and proportionally. Delving into the unique, varied and dynamic character of Gen Z is an important asset for all parties who want to connect and benefit from this entity, because Gen Z, in the future, will be a potential entity that can determine the black and white face of the nation's economy, politics, social and culture.

Abstract

This study captures the phenomenon of cancel culture that afflicts Indonesian celebrities due to their behavior that is considered to violate social norms and ethics; as well as revealing the social implications faced by celebrities after they become victims of cancel culture. Using a constructivist paradigm with qualitative characteristics, this study draws research data sources from social media content and literature reviews. The results show that cancel culture is a digital culture that emphasizes the social responsibility of individuals, groups, institutions, or corporations for their actions; reflecting new dynamics in social interaction, where the collective power of netizens can impose social sanctions on celebrities. Cancel culture is not only about cancellation culture, but also a reflection of the complex relationship between public power, freedom of expression, and social ethics. By understanding cancel culture, we can prevent its negative impacts, as well as promote more effective, literate, aware, and responsible use of social media. Keywords: Cancel culture, expressions of resistance, netizen collective power, negative impact, social norms

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of managerial communication style on employee motivation and attitude. The sources of the study are extracted from previous research results. In the analysis, this study uses the concept of interpersonal communication, the concept of organizational communication, social exchange theory, and organizational support theory, using the Literature Review Study (LRS) method. The results of the study: an open and transparent communication style is able to trigger work motivation, strengthen self-confidence, and build positive attitudes of employees towards the company. In contrast, authoritarian (non-communicative) communication styles tend to reduce work motivation and create permissive attitudes of employees towards the company. This finding confirms the importance of communication management in shaping a communicative, responsive, and participative work atmosphere to improve employee motivation and performance. Company leaders and managers must develop effective communication styles to optimize organizational goals.

Abstract

The position of media studies continues to face academic debate: starting from a positive view (positivist media paradigm), a semi-critical perspective (postpositivist and constructivist media paradigms), a critical perspective (critical media paradigm), to a postmodernist/poststructuralist perspective. This qualitative study does not discuss the postmodernist/poststructuralist paradigm, but only looks at the position and function of media from a positivist, constructivist, and critical perspective. This study is qualitative with a descriptive-interpretive analysis approach. The results of the study show that constructivism and critical paradigms have different perspectives, sharpness, and levels of analysis in viewing the position and function of media from a social, cultural, and ideological perspective compared to the positivist paradigm
