Abstract

Along with criticism of objectivity, phenomenology is also often criticized for limitations in the generalization of findings. Because of its focus on unique individual experiences, phenomenology tends to ignore the social, cultural, and historical contexts that may influence those experiences. This makes it difficult to generalize phenomenological findings to wider populations, and limits their relevance in more general theory development. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of silica application on the growth of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) Malang 52 varieties and the resistance of stem borer (Chilo infuscatellus) and shoots (Scirpophaga excerptalis). This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of Balittas Karangploso, Malang, East Java. Pest identification activities were carried out at the Entomology Research Group Laboratory. The study was conducted from October 2020 to February 2021. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Design with five treatments and three replications. The research parameters included plant height, stem hardness, leaf hardness, leaf chlorophyll content, percentage of stem borer and shoot borer attack intensity. The results showed that the growth of sugarcane varieties Malang 52 significantly affected plant height, stem hardness, leaf hardness, and leaf chlorophyll content and the percentage intensity of stem borer (Chilo infuscatellus) and shoot borer (Scirpophaga excerptalis) attacks.  Keywords : Stem borer (Chilo infuscatellus), Shoot borer (Scirpophaga excerptalis), Silica, Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) Abstract

The phenomenon of Korean Popular Culture or Korean Pop (K-Pop) has become a hot topic in recent years, including in Indonesia. This culture, originating from South Korea, encompasses various aspects such as music, dance with unique choreography performed by girl groups and boy groups, as well as dramas that have become widely popular. K-Pop culture has gained widespread appeal across all demographics, including children, teenagers, adults, and especially university students. Based on this phenomenon, the researcher conducted a study aimed at exploring the correlation between the K-Pop cultural phenomenon and learning motivation among university students. The research employed a quantitative approach, supported by primary data collection through the distribution of questionnaires to 18 respondents. The results of the study indicated that K-Pop culture positively impacts students' learning motivation. Some of the reasons cited for this positive influence include K-Pop's ability to enhance students' moods while studying, serve as a form of self-reward, provide unique motivation, and inspire students to pursue further education or work in South Korea. However, the study also revealed that K-Pop culture has negative effects on some students. Several respondents felt that K-Pop was a time-waster, as it led them to become too engrossed in watching K-Pop content, thus neglecting their academic priorities. This highlights that while K-Pop can be a source of motivation, excessive involvement in it may distract students from focusing on their studies. Abstract

This article presents a systematic literature review on the role of patronage in shaping Indonesia's political landscape. Using a systematic literature review approach, the article analyzes 30 selected articles out of a total of 250 articles that underwent identification and screening processes. The main focus of this review is to explore how political patronage influences power structures, political participation, and the dynamics of relations between political elites and the public in Indonesia.  Drawing on Michel Foucault's theory of power and knowledge, the article explores how patronage not only functions as a tool for distributing resources but also plays a crucial role in the construction and dissemination of political knowledge. According to Foucault, power is not just imposed from above but operates through networks of relationships, shaping the way knowledge is produced and legitimized. Patronage systems produce specific truths that validate the power structures and create a discourse that legitimizes inequality and exclusion. The findings suggest that patronage remains an essential tool in political mobilization, influencing both the distribution of resources and the strengthening of social and political networks. However, the complexity of patronage also poses challenges for the development of an inclusive and transparent democracy. This article provides a deeper understanding of the influence of patronage in Indonesian politics, offering insights for the development of more just and sustainable political policies, while reflecting on Foucault’s ideas about how knowledge and power intertwine to shape political realities.

Abstract

This study explores the experiences of urbanites who are scavengers and live above the Rangkah grave in Surabaya. Researchers use qualitative studies with in-depth interviews to describe their lives. This study uses the phenomenological theory initiated by Alfred Schutz. The results of this study show that the study subjects had experience of living in limited conditions when they were in the village. These limited conditions became the reason for them to urbanize to the city of Surabaya. However, their lives in Surabaya were no better than before, due to inadequate skills and education - they even had to experience new challenges in the form of stigmatization of their work as scavengers. An experience they never had when living in the village. In the end, amidst the limited life in the city, they had to live in the cemetery area.
