Abstract

Preeclampsia remains one of the leading causes of maternal morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. One preventive effort that can be undertaken is early education for pregnant women regarding the classical triad of preeclampsia, which includes hypertension, edema, and proteinuria. However, many pregnant women still lack understanding of these danger signs, often resulting in delayed detection and treatment. This community service activity aimed to improve pregnant women's knowledge of the classical signs of preeclampsia through health education involving counseling sessions, interactive discussions, leaflet distribution, and knowledge evaluation using pre- and post-tests. The activity was conducted in the working area of Abeli Public Health Center, Abeli District, Kendari City, involving 15 pregnant women as participants. The stages included coordination with the health center, initial health checks (blood pressure and body weight), pre-test questionnaire, delivery of educational materials, distribution of informational leaflets, interactive discussions, and post-test evaluation. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge regarding the classical triad of preeclampsia after the educational intervention. The practical implication of this activity is that combining health education with basic health screening proves effective in raising awareness among pregnant women about the warning signs of preeclampsia. This approach can serve as a promotive and preventive intervention model that is applicable and sustainable at the primary healthcare level.
