Abstract

This Community Service aims to strengthen the presence of the OSIS (Student Council) at the high school and vocational school levels in Surakarta, where the OSIS members are teenagers aged 15-18 years who are still in the process of seeking their identity and self-discovery. It is crucial for these teenagers to lead school organizations, and this requires the important skill of public speaking, which is especially needed by OSIS members at high schools and vocational schools, particularly in Christian institutions in the city of Surakarta. This basic leadership training provides new knowledge on how students must be prepared to become leaders for themselves and their peers, equipped with the ability to speak in public. This will enhance students' confidence and communication skills, enabling them to relate to their peers in the OSIS management as well as with other OSIS institutions in a healthy and responsible manner. ABSTRAKPengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan untuk menguatkan keberadaan OSIS di tingkat SMA maupun SMK di Surakarta, dimana anggota OSIS ini adalah siswa yang berusia remaja yaitu 15-18 tahun dimana mereka masih mencari jati diri dan identitas mereka. Pentingnya para remaja untuk memimpin organisasi sekolah membutuhkan peran penting kemampuan untuk public speaking, dimana hal ini menjadi kebutuhan para pengurus OSIS SMA dan SMK khususnya di lembaga Yayasan Kristen di kota Surakarta. Pelatihan dasar kepemimpinan siswa ini memberikan pengetahuan baru tentang bagaimana para siswa harus siap menjadi pemimpin bagi dirinya dan teman-temannya yang juga dilengkapi dengan kemampuan untuk berbicara dimuka umum. Hal ini akan meningkatkan percaya diri dan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa untuk berelasi dengan teman-temannya di kepengurusan OSIS maupun antar lembaga OSIS lainnya secara sehat dan bertanggungjawab.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how the practice of Children's Holy Communion at Gereja Kristen Jawa Dagen-Palur and GKJ Danukusuman is implemented as part of Christian education for children. The subjects of this study include parents of children who have participated in the Children's Holy Communion and church pastors. A qualitative approach with a case study method was employed to gain an in-depth understanding through interviews, observation, and document analysis. The findings indicate that while the Children's Holy Communion can serve as a significant moment in the growth of a child's faith, the follow-up discipleship efforts remain suboptimal. The churches face challenges in designing structured follow-up programs, and parental involvement in accompanying their children's faith journey is still limited. As a result, the continuity of Christian faith education for children is not well maintained. Therefore, this study recommends that churches develop post-communion discipleship programs that actively involve families.

Abstract

The Holy Communion is a part of faith maintenance. GKJ Jambeyan has implemented Holy Communion for children who have not yet taken the confirmation, or in other words, for teenagers who have not yet professed their faith. There are two teenagers who often cause trouble even after participating in Children's Communion, such as using foul language and harming others. Additionally, parents of two teenagers from GKJ Jambeyan have expressed concerns about their children being difficult to manage and burdensome. Moreover, one of these two teenagers withdrew from fellowship, even though they had attended Children's Communion, during which they received guidance on living as Christians. However, one of the teenagers experienced a positive change in daily behavior, making the spiritual transformation among these teenagers an interesting subject for research. This study uses a quantitative method to examine the existing correlation. The results of this study show that the application of educational elements in Children's Communion has a 93.7% impact on the spiritual intelligence of teenagers at GKJ Jambeyan. Furthermore, if there is an increase in the spiritual intelligence of GKJ Jambeyan teenagers, there is a 90.7% increase in the application of educational elements in Children's Communion.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of spiritual leadership in influencing the spiritual development of youth at the Gereja Kristen Jawa (GKJ) Cakraningratan Surakarta. Spiritual leadership is understood as a leadership model rooted in Christian values, exemplary life, and submission to God's sovereignty. The study employs a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with pastors, church elders, youth committee leaders, and active youth members, supported by observations and church documentation. The findings reveal that spiritual leadership significantly impacts youth faith formation. Youth guided by spiritual, communicative, and consistent leaders demonstrate increased involvement in ministry, reflective decision-making, and deeper personal spirituality. However, the study also identifies gaps between the ideal model and current practice, including leadership absence, lack of personal discipline, and ineffective communication. These findings highlight the importance of continuous development of spiritual leadership within church-based youth ministry. Authentic spiritual leaders serve as catalysts for nurturing the faith of the younger generation. This study contributes both theoretically and practically to the development of a contextual, spiritually grounded leadership model relevant to the contemporary church context. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran kepemimpinan rohani dalam memengaruhi perkembangan spiritual pemuda di Gereja Kristen Jawa (GKJ) Cakraningratan Surakarta. Kepemimpinan rohani dipahami sebagai bentuk kepemimpinan yang berakar pada nilai-nilai Kristiani, keteladanan hidup, dan ketundukan terhadap kedaulatan Tuhan. Pendekatan penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pendeta, majelis pamong, ketua komisi pemuda, serta anggota pemuda aktif, didukung oleh observasi dan dokumentasi kegiatan gereja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan rohani memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan iman pemuda. Pemuda yang dipimpin oleh figur yang rohani, komunikatif, dan konsisten menunjukkan peningkatan partisipasi dalam pelayanan, pengambilan keputusan yang reflektif, dan kedalaman spiritualitas pribadi. Namun demikian, penelitian juga menemukan adanya kesenjangan antara kepemimpinan ideal dan praktik di lapangan, seperti kurangnya kehadiran pemimpin, minimnya disiplin pribadi, dan komunikasi yang tidak efektif. Implikasi dari temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya pembinaan kepemimpinan rohani secara berkelanjutan dalam pelayanan kategorial pemuda. Pemimpin rohani yang otentik dapat menjadi motor penggerak pembentukan iman generasi muda gereja. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoritis dan praktis bagi pengembangan model kepemimpinan berbasis spiritualitas yang kontekstual dan relevan dalam gereja masa kini.
