Abstract

This study aims to investigate the challenges faced by pre-service teachers in using ChatGPT as a tool for planning the learning process. Despite the potential of ChatGPT to enhance efficiency, creativity, and innovation in educational contexts, its implementation among pre-service teachers remains limited due to a range of difficulties. These include challenges in formulating learning objectives, selecting appropriate teaching methods and tools, and assessing the relevance of AI-generated content to curriculum standards. Using a quantitative research approach, a survey was conducted with 30 pre-service teachers in North Sumatra, Indonesia, to explore the barriers encountered across the planning, implementation, and evaluation phases of the learning process. Findings indicate that while ChatGPT offers valuable support, pre-service teachers experience moderate to high levels of difficulty in critical areas such as identifying relevant resources, structuring learning activities, and facilitating effective student engagement. These challenges underscore the need for targeted training and pedagogical support to optimize the integration of AI tools in teacher education programs. The study provides insights into the complexities of adopting AI in education and proposes strategies for overcoming these barriers, contributing to the discourse on technology-enhanced learning in developing educational contexts.

Abstract

This study explores teachers' perceptions of using FluentU, a video-based language learning application, to enhance students' pronunciation skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. Recognizing that pronunciation plays a crucial role in communicative competence; the research addresses the gap in studies focusing specifically on digital platforms like FluentU. The study used a qualitative phenomenological design to gather data from eight secondary school teachers in Medan through closed-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal that teachers generally hold positive perceptions of FluentU, with an average score of 31.65 and a percentage score of 79.125%, categorizing the effectiveness of application as "Good." Teachers noted FluentU's strengths in enhancing student motivation, suprasegmental pronunciation (intonation, rhythm), and phoneme recognition. However, they expressed reservations about using FluentU as the primary tool for pronunciation instruction, citing the need for more interactive feedback and advanced segmental practice. The study concludes that while FluentU is a valuable supplementary resource for improving pronunciation, a blended learning approach may be optimal. These insights contribute to the growing field of digital-assisted language learning, highlighting the potential of interactive multimedia tools in EFL pronunciation teaching.

Abstract

Penelitian ini fokus pada penerapan manajemen operasional di institusi pendidikan, dengan penekanan pada pengelolaan sumber daya untuk mencapai tujuan pendidikan yang baik dan berkelanjutan. Untuk menghadapi tantangan globalisasi dan kemajuan teknologi informasi, dibutuhkan strategi manajemen yang efektif. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kepustakaan untuk mengumpulkan data tentang manajemen pendidikan dan operasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa manajemen operasional mencakup perencanaan strategis, pengelolaan sumber daya manusia, keuangan, kurikulum, fasilitas, dan teknologi informasi. Proses ini juga melibatkan pengendalian strategis untuk memastikan efektivitas dan efisiensi pendidikan. Manajemen operasional yang baik diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, menjamin ketersediaan dana, dan menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang kondusif. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa manajemen operasional yang terencana dan profesional adalah kunci untuk menciptakan pendidikan yang unggul dan memenuhi harapan masyarakat serta pemerintah.
