Abstract

Pre-marital marriage guidance by the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) is not just a series of formal meetings, but an integral part of the mental, spiritual, and practical preparation for prospective couples before marriage. This program is responsible for providing comprehensive guidance and insights for those embarking on the journey of life together as husbands and wives. With that said, this research focused on the effectiveness of the materials and approaches used in the guidance, as well as the responses and perceptions of prospective couples, offering a profound view of the crucial role this program plays in marriage preparation. The research employed qualitative methods with a case study approach, utilizing direct observation, interviews with KUA officials, prospective couples attending the guidance, and guidance counselors as data sources. The findings highlighted the significant role of this program in preparing prospective couples holistically. The materials and approaches employed played a pivotal role in their physical, mental, and spiritual readiness for marriage. Positive responses from prospective couples indicated the success of the program, although challenges like program adjustments and continuous evaluation need attention to enhance its future effectiveness. The research underscored the need for ongoing development of marriage guidance programs to make them more beneficial and relevant to prospective couples.

Abstract

Social capital the connections, shared values, and trust that foster collaboration between people and communities plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and self-sufficiency. First introduced by sociologist J.S. Coleman in 1985, the concept refers to the benefits that emerge from personal relationships and the networks people belong to. However, leaning too much on social capital for economic progress comes with its own set of risks. Given how interconnected African economies are, along with the globalized nature of modern trade, economic and political instability can spread quickly. That’s why any plan to tackle the challenges tied to social capital and economic independence must take regional dynamics into account. A common strategy focuses on three key areas: boosting economic development while ensuring environmental sustainability. The fishing communities along Krui’s Central Coast have developed distinct traits shaped by their long struggle with survival, economic instability, and environmental pressures. Over time, their way of life has been influenced by the delicate balance between relying on natural resources and facing the harsh realities of exploitation particularly the harvesting of puerulus, which has directly affected their livelihoods. Studies in this region have explored property rights and local narratives to grasp how these challenges have reshaped their economic and social dynamics. One key issue is the tension between economic self-sufficiency and the willingness to adapt to formal job requirements. Many in these communities prioritize independence over pursuing structured employment opportunities. This highlights the need for policies that support sustainable independence not just for individual fishers, but for their communities and the broader national economy. Another critical factor is social capital the trust, cooperation, and community bonds that hold these groups together. Research shows that strong social ties foster economic growth by creating trust among people. Unlike financial incentives, this trust stems from deeply ingrained cultural values and shared experiences, making it a powerful driver of resilience and progress.

Abstract

Khilafiyah, or differences of opinion in Islam, is an inherent phenomenon in the history of Islamic thought. This study aims to explore the dynamics of khilafiyah and its contributions to enriching the Islamic intellectual tradition. Using a qualitative approach based on literature review, this research examines classical and contemporary sources to identify the causes of differences of opinion, the methodological frameworks of scholars, and the relevance of khilafiyah in addressing modern issues. Findings indicate that khilafiyah not only broadens the intellectual horizons of Muslims but also serves as a crucial foundation for the development of disciplines such as fiqh, usul fiqh, hadith studies, and theology. Amidst the challenges of globalization and pluralism, khilafiyah remains relevant as an adaptive and solution-oriented tool for contextual ijtihad. However, critical awareness is needed to prevent polarization of the ummah due to the misuse of differences. Thus, khilafiyah must be understood as an intellectual heritage that reinforces the values of moderation, tolerance, and diversity within the framework of ummah unity.

Abstract

Desa Lenek Ramban Biak has transformed into an ecotourism village due to its various tourism potentials, including natural, cultural, and religious attractions. However, both the government and local communities lack awareness of the importance of managing village tourism. Through the Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata) conducted by PMD UNRAM, efforts have been made to enhance cleanliness and attract more visitors. Activities include creating photo spots, producing promotional videos, and establishing waste disposal facilities through collective clean-up efforts. The implementation methods involve crafting waste bins from recycled bamboo, conducting clean-up drives at tourist spots, producing promotional videos, and creating photo spots using wood and bamboo. The addition of photo spots aims to make the tourist destination more appealing. The use of bamboo waste bins is intended to raise awareness among the community about waste management and promote a cleaner and healthier environment. Additionally, leveraging technological advancements for promotional video production facilitates wider outreach through social media platforms, thereby increasing awareness among the public. Social media serves as a convenient channel for disseminating information about the tourist destination.

Abstract

Bullying is a serious problem that persists frequently in elementary schools and negatively impacts students' psychological and social development, as well as their learning experience. Therefore, ongoing preventative efforts through early character education are necessary. This study aims to describe the role of Al-Washliyah Muslim Nusantara University (UMN) Community Service Program (KKN) students in fostering anti-bullying awareness within the MIS Cendikia school in Batu Bara Regency. A descriptive qualitative approach was used as data collection techniques, including direct observation, in-depth interviews, and activity documentation. The results indicate that the anti-bullying education program implemented by the KKN students, through interactive counseling, educational games, visual media, and an empathetic communication approach, increased students' understanding and awareness of the negative impacts of bullying. Furthermore, changes in student attitudes toward more respectful, cooperative, and empathetic behavior were observed. Support from the school also strengthened the program's effectiveness in creating a safer and more inclusive learning environment. Thus, the KKN students serve as agents of change in instilling anti-bullying values and building a positive school culture.
