Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a major nutritional problem influenced by inadequate feeding practices during early childhood. This study examined the effect of feeding counseling and massage therapy for feeding difficulties on the nutritional status of stunted toddlers. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was conducted among 40 stunted toddlers aged 24–59 months in Semarang City. The intervention group received feeding counseling and massage therapy for three months, while the control group received standard care. Nutritional status was assessed using Weight-for-Age Z-score (WAZ) and Height-for-Age Z-score (HAZ). Results: The intervention led to a significant improvement in HAZ scores (p < 0.001), indicating a positive trend in linear growth, while WAZ scores showed no significant change. Conclussion: These results suggest that feeding counseling combined with massage therapy for feeding difficulties may support linear growth among stunted toddlers. However, the small sample size and short intervention period limit the generalizability of these findings.

Abstract

Abstract

Masa remaja (10–18 tahun) ditandai perubahan hormonal yang memengaruhi kesehatan reproduksi, termasuk keputihan. Sekitar 60% remaja putri mengalaminya. Sebelum intervensi, seluruh responden mengalami keputihan. Setelah pemberian daun kemangi 4 hari, 36 responden (87,8%) membaik, 5 (12,2%) tetap keputihan. Uji Wilcoxon menghasilkan P-Value 0,001, membuktikan daun kemangi efektif menurunkan keputihan melalui kandungan antibakteri dan antijamur.

Abstract

Background: Exclusive breastfeeding for infants aged 0–6 months provides major health benefits, yet many mothers struggle to maintain it due to low motivation. “Hypnolactation,” which combines hypnosis to build confidence and reduce anxiety, with lactation massage to stimulate milk flow, may serve as an effective holistic care intervention. Objectives: This study develops an innovative holistic care model incorporating hypnolactation and lactation massage to enhance maternal motivation for exclusive breastfeeding. Methods: This quasi-experimental study used a pretest–posttest control group design with 42 postpartum mothers at Kagok Health Center, Semarang (March–December 2024). Data were collected using a validated breastfeeding motivation questionnaire and observation sheets. Statistical analysis employed the Wilcoxon test and the independent t-test.Results: Both hypnolactation (Z = –2.33, p = 0.02) and lactation massage (Z = –2.00, p = 0.046) significantly improved maternal motivation, with hypnolactation showing greater effectivenessConclusions: The findings demonstrate that the holistic care model combining hypnolactation and lactation massage significantly improves maternal motivation for exclusive breastfeeding. This intervention effectively addresses psychological barriers such as anxiety and lack of confidence while also providing physical comfort that facilitates the breastfeeding process. Future studies should expand the sample size and evaluate the long-term impact on exclusive breastfeeding success up to six months.

Abstract

Background: Primary dysmenorrhea is a common gynecological condition affecting adolescent girls, often characterized by moderate to severe menstrual pain that disrupts daily activities and reduces quality of life. The prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea among adolescents is reported to be as high as 75%. Although pharmacological interventions such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used, concerns about side effects and accessibility have encouraged exploration of alternative, non-pharmacological approaches. Aromatherapy using cinnamon, which contains active compounds such as cinnamaldehyde and eugenol, has demonstrated antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a promising candidate for pain management. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of cinnamon aromatherapy in reducing pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls. Methods: A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest one-group approach was used. 70 high school students in SMA Kesatrian 1 Central Java, Indonesia, who experienced primary dysmenorrhea were selected through total sampling. Participants received cinnamon aromatherapy via inhalation for three consecutive days during menstruation. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test following a normality check via the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test. Results: A significant reduction in pain intensity was observed following the intervention (Z = -6.679, p < 0.001), before the intervention, 36 female adolescents (51.4%) experienced moderate dysmenorrhea. After the intervention, 37 female adolescents (52.9%) experienced mild primary dysmenorrhea. Conclusion: Cinnamon aromatherapy effectively reduces menstrual pain and can be considered a non-pharmacological alternative for managing primary dysmenorrhea in adolescents.
