Abstract

Surgery is a treatment procedure that uses invasive techniques by opening the part of the body to be treated with an incision which ends with stitching the wound. Of course, patients who will undergo surgery will feel anxious. Therefore, therapeutic communication will be used to reduce patient anxiety. Therapeutic communication is health communication that can provide accurate information and increase the confidence of patients who will undergo surgery. Therefore, every hospital nurse must have good therapeutic communication skills. Adding therapeutic communication skills to nurses can be done through workshops and other training. The design of this research is a literature review or also known as a systematic method for carrying out identification and evaluation of works from the results of research conducted by previous researchers. Using 5 journals covering the last 10 years. The results of this study found that 5 journals said that good therapeutic communication was related to reducing anxiety in preoperative patients with a p-value <0.005.

Abstract

Abstract

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a condition characterized by pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand, particularly in the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and part of the ring finger. This condition occurs due to compression of the median nerve passing through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of gliding exercises in improving CTS symptoms and the functional status of patients. The method used is a literature review, with inclusion criteria for research articles from 2013 to 2023. The results from the five selected studies indicate that gliding exercises can significantly reduce pressure on the median nerve, thereby alleviating symptoms and enhancing the functional capacity of the hand in CTS patients. These exercises were performed once a week for 30 minutes over a period of 3 to 8 weeks, depending on the patient's condition. Gliding exercises have been proven effective as a non-medical intervention in the management of CTS, though some controversy regarding the potential risk of shifting the involved anatomical structures should be considered.

Abstract

The growing emphasis on patient-centered healthcare highlights the critical need for high-quality services that meet patient satisfaction, particularly in physiotherapy clinics. This study aims to explore the relationship between the quality of physiotherapy services and patient satisfaction, focusing on various dimensions such as tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. A literature review was conducted, analyzing studies from 2013 to 2023 to assess the effectiveness of physiotherapy services in different settings. The findings indicate a significant correlation between service quality and patient satisfaction, with a substantial number of patients reporting satisfaction with the services received. However, certain areas, such as communication and facility conditions, were identified as needing improvement. The study underscores the importance of enhancing service quality to meet patient expectations and improve overall healthcare outcomes. The results are expected to contribute to the development of more effective physiotherapy services and serve as a reference for future research in this area.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is a prevalent condition affecting a significant portion of the global population, often leading to reduced productivity and quality of life. It is broadly categorized into specific LBP, caused by identifiable pathophysiological mechanisms, and non-specific LBP, which lacks a clear origin and accounts for about 90% of cases. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound therapy in reducing pain and improving functional status among patients with non-specific LBP. A literature review was conducted, analyzing studies from 2013 to 2023 that applied ultrasound therapy to LBP patients. The primary outcomes were pain reduction and functional improvement, measured using the Modified Oswestry Disability Index (MODI) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The findings suggest that ultrasound therapy effectively alleviates pain and enhances functional status in LBP patients. The thermal and mechanical effects of ultrasound, such as increased tissue temperature, enhanced blood flow, reduced muscle spasms, and decreased pain receptor sensitivity, contribute to pain relief and functional recovery. Significant pain reduction was observed in the experimental groups compared to control groups, with consistent results across different studies. In conclusion, ultrasound therapy is a beneficial non-pharmacological intervention for managing non-specific LBP, offering significant improvements in pain relief and functional outcomes. Further research is recommended to optimize treatment protocols and confirm long-term benefits.

Abstract

Carpal Tunnel syndrome is the most common problem in young to elderly people with a preval_ence of 20.3%. in Indonesia. Ultrasound is non-invasive and easy to apply without causing side effects and can speed up the healing of damaged tissue with a warming effect. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of ultrasound modality for carpal tunnel syndrome sufferers. Literature review research was carried out using the PICO search in the Google Scholar database. There were 5 journals that met the criteria and showed the results that Ultrasound carried out for 15 minutes per session with an intensity of 1.0 W/cm2, frequency of 1 MHz, 15 minutes per session, 5 times a week for 6 weeks, gave better results in eliminating pain and functional activity. Ultrasound modality therapy provides significant effectiveness p<0.001 in reducing pain, reducing median nerve inflammation and helping nerve recovery by stimulating regeneration.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) is experienced by almost everyone during their life. The results of research conducted in 14 cities in Indonesia showed that the pain group of the Association of Neurologists throughout Indonesia found 18.13% of sufferers of lower back pain with an average Visual Analog Scale (VAS) value of 5.46 ± 2.56, which means moderate to moderate pain. Severe treatment to deal with LBP effectively can be a solution to patient complaints. Physiotherapists can provide treatment such as warm and cold compress. Literature review research was carried out using the PICO search in the Google Scholar database. There were 5 journals that met the criteria and showed the results that warm and cold compresses carried out with a frequency of 2 times/week, an intensity of 35 degrees Celsius, with a duration of 15 minutes for 6 weeks and carried out 5 times/week, gave better results in relieving pain. and functional activities. Warm and cold compress methods provide significant effectiveness p<0.001 in reducing pain in the lower back.
