Abstract

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describe the profile of multiple intelligences among high school students in physics learning. The goal is to provide a basis for designing more adaptive and personalized instructional strategies that align with students' cognitive strengths. Method: A quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach was employed, involving 101 students from three different classes. Data were collected using a Likert-scale-based multiple intelligences questionnaire encompassing eight intelligence domains: verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and reliability testing. Results: The findings revealed that intrapersonal (78.320%), interpersonal (77.030%), kinesthetic (76.780%), and naturalist (76.440%) intelligence were the most dominant among students. Verbal-linguistic (70.050%), musical (71.830%), visual-spatial (69.110%), and logical-mathematical (64.500%) also showed notable representation. EFA identified ten principal components that explained 65.040% of the total Variance. Reliability analysis showed that most factors had adequate Cronbach's Alpha values (> 0.700), although some required refinement. Novelty: This study provides updated empirical insights into high school students' multiple intelligences in physics learning, with a focus on the emerging dominance of kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and naturalist intelligence. It also incorporates recent psychometric validation using EFA, underscoring the need for intelligence-based instructional design. The novelty lies in combining psychological profiling with physics-specific pedagogy in a Merdeka Belajar framework.

Abstract

Implementing a Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia has not been able to foster critical awareness among students and educators entirely. This research focuses on how integrating Paulo Freire's concept of conscientization in the Merdeka Curriculum can facilitate a more holistic and learner-centered approach to education. In this context, this study uses a literature review approach. The results showed that 1) The integration of critical awareness in the Merdeka Curriculum can be realized through problem-posing methods and dialogical methods emphasizing the importance of critical awareness and reflective action. 2) Applying this method can foster students' critical awareness in developing their knowledge more broadly, empowering students while respecting human values. 3) The involvement of all relevant parties in listening to and understanding the concerns of teachers and staff and active student involvement in the learning process can overcome teacher unpreparedness in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. In addition, digital platforms and online learning resources can effectively provide education focusing on student empowerment and social awareness. Comprehensive training programs for educators are crucial to overcoming the diversity of teacher competencies.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to develop a Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS) integrated with a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) approach and to examine its effectiveness in improving Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) configuration competencies among eleventh-grade students of the Computer and Network Engineering (CNE) program at SMKN 1 Surabaya. Method: The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. The subjects were an experimental and a control class. Data were collected through expert validation, cognitive tests, and psychomotor performance assessments. Data analysis was conducted using the Mann–Whitney U test and the independent-samples t-test based on the data distribution. Results: The developed LMS demonstrated very high feasibility, with a media validation score of 93.3%. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in both cognitive and psychomotor competencies between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that integrating a Moodle-based LMS with the PjBL approach effectively enhances students' VLAN configuration competencies in vocational education. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in the explicit integration of Project-Based Learning syntax into the design and functionality of a Moodle-based LMS for VLAN configuration practice, enabling a balanced development of theoretical understanding and psychomotor skills within a vocational, project-oriented learning context.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to map students' GenAI usage profiles during physics learning. In addition, it examines the correlation between these variables and students' critical thinking skills in physics learning. Method: A non-experimental, quantitative, ex post facto design was employed. This design captures phenomena that occur naturally without any intervention. The research instruments consisted of questionnaires and tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kruskal–Walls test, and Spearman’s correlation test. Results: Students tend to accept answers from GenAI quickly during physics learning. Only a small proportion are accustomed to questioning, verifying, and evaluating GenAI-generated answers. There are differences in critical thinking skills among groups of students with different patterns of GenAI use, with an ε2 of 0.410. The profile of GenAI usage is positively correlated with critical thinking skills, with a correlation coefficient of 0.525, indicating a moderate relationship. Novelty: This study contributes by revealing students' GenAI usage profiles in physics learning and by providing empirical evidence that the quality of ethical and reflective use has a strong influence and is positively correlated with critical thinking skills.
