Abstract

This research was motivated by the high stunting rate in Luhu Village, Maluku, which was triggered by intestinal worm infections due to low access to modern worm medicines. This condition encourages the importance of identifying alternative deworming from local natural ingredients as an effort to eliminate stunting through local wisdom. The purpose of this study is to find and analyze the potential of natural ingredients in Luhu Village that function as deworming drugs, as well as evaluate their effectiveness in reducing worm infections in children. The method used is qualitative research with an ethnobotanical approach, where data is collected through interviews with traditional medicine practitioners, participatory observation, and laboratory tests on local plant samples. The results of the study showed that these ingredients have significant antihelmintic activity, proven through laboratory tests that support their use as an effective traditional medicine. In conclusion, local natural ingredients can be a safe and effective treatment alternative to reduce worm infections, and have the potential to contribute to stunting elimination efforts in the village. The contribution of this research is to enrich health strategies based on local wisdom, reduce dependence on modern medicine, and support the sustainability of traditional medicine in remote areas.

Abstract

Groundwater has two types: shallow groundwater and deep groundwater. Shallow groundwater originates from rainwater and is located not far from the soil surface, above an impermeable layer. On the other hand, deep groundwater is rainwater that infiltrates more profoundly into the ground through the processes of absorption and filtration by rocks and minerals within the soil. ArcGIS 10.4.1 spatial data processing includes digitization processes to convert data from raster to spatial data. Aquifer configuration analysis using geoelectrical methods (Schlumberger), further clarified using Stiff diagrams, distinguishes aquifer configurations into several rock sections. The aquifer configuration involves the overlying soil layer, clay, sand-gravel as the aquifer, and rock layers with some occurrences of saline aquifers.

Abstract

This research was conducted to assess the availability of road networks in Dusun Wailapia and its impact on the mobility and activities of the community. The study identified that although road networks exist, they need to be improved, causing constraints in daily activities, especially for commuting to schools and conducting inter-village trading. The findings revealed that the existing number of transportation facilities needs to be increased to support community mobility, resulting in many still relying on private vehicles. The length of the inter-village road is approximately 1000 meters with a road width of about 3 meters, but the poor road condition hinders accessibility. The research developed several alternative strategies, including enhancing government and community collaboration, repairing and asphalting roads, and expanding public transportation facilities. The study aims to improve the quality of road networks, thereby facilitating mobility and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Dusun Wailapia, as well as supporting economic growth and the tourism sector in the region.

Abstract

Improving the competence of geography teachers in island regions faces challenges related to limited access, resources, and digital adaptation. This community engagement program aimed to enhance the capacity of the Geography Teachers’ Working Group (MGMP) in Ambon City in developing effective and innovative teaching materials based on local contexts. Activities included participatory workshops, digital learning material development, and continuous mentoring both offline and online. Results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ ability to design, implement, and evaluate contextual learning materials. Over 80% of participants effectively utilized digital media and produced interactive products relevant to Ambon’s environment. This program highlights the effectiveness of collaborative and participatory approaches in strengthening teacher competence while fostering a sustainable professional network. The model offers a replicable reference for teacher empowerment in other regions through educational policy support and university collaboration
