Abstract

Aircraft maintenance in remote locations is a prevalent challenge for local airlines in Indonesia, leading to diminished productivity and efficiency in the maintenance division. This issue is substantiated by a significant incidence rate of 36% annually, as reported by a national airline. The current solution needed is the improvement of the Maintenance System to eliminate off-hangar maintenance for Narrow Body aircraft in the national aviation service industry. This study aims to identify the causal factors of aircraft requiring maintenance when located outside the primary maintenance facilities and to reduce these occurrences. The Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method is employed to determine the most effective maintenance approach based on system and equipment reliability, and the fuzzy logic method in FMEA is utilized to address ambiguity and uncertainty in risk assessment. Primary data were obtained from Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with experts working in the airline industry. Secondary data were collected from all aircraft experiencing breakdowns outside the main hangar. The findings reveal that the primary factor for maintenance outside the main facilities is the current maintenance policy of Finding Failure (FF), which leads to unpredictable maintenance activities, resulting in damage outside the main facility areas (Batam, Cengkareng, and Surabaya). Incidents of maintenance outside the main facilities can be eliminated by shifting the policy to Time Directed (TD), enabling the company to reduce costs from an initial IDR 342,681,011,118.60 to IDR 70,370,514,198.60, achieving a cost saving of 79.47%.

Abstract

Abstract

This research was conducted in the context of significant air traffic growth in Indonesia, where the increasing number of passengers each year presents an opportunity for airlines to expand their route networks and reach more markets. To seize this opportunity, a national airline based in Jakarta conducted internal research to open new flight routes connecting several important cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Kupang, Pangkal Pinang, Pekanbaru, Makassar, and Banjarmasin. This research aims to obtain an optimal flight route that can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the planned airline routes. The research utilizes the Simulated Annealing-Traveling Salesman Problem optimization method to achieve this objective. This method is employed to find the best solution in determining the shortest route that includes visits to each destination city. The initial proposed flight route by the airline was Banjarmasin-Pangkal Pinang-Pekanbaru-Jakarta-Kupang-Makassar, with a total distance of 5,127 km. However, the research yielded a different optimal flight route after conducting the optimization process using the Simulated Annealing-Traveling Salesman Problem method. The discovered optimal flight route is Pekanbaru-Pangkal Pinang-Jakarta-Banjarmasin-Makassar-Kupang, with a total distance of 3,256 km. A comparison between the initial and optimal routes reveals that the new route has a 36.49% shorter distance than the initial route.

Abstract

Airlines in Indonesia play a crucial role in air transportation activities, connecting communities across different regions. This research aims to identify one of the root causes of flight delays in an Indonesian airline by examining the influence of routine maintenance and engineer competence on aircraft readiness. The theory utilized in this research is Multivariate Statistics, notably the Structural Equation Model - Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS ) method, employed using questionnaire survey data and internal company data, specifically the annual flight delay data. The research findings show that there is a direct influence of routine maintenance schedule on aircraft readiness by 39.70%; there is a direct influence of spare parts availability on aircraft readiness by 27.60%; there is an indirect influence of routine maintenance schedule and spare parts availability on aircraft availability by 11.30%; and there is an indirect influence of engineer competence and spare parts availability on aircraft availability by 7.30%. The hypothesis stating a significant relationship between engineer competence and aircraft readiness was rejected because, in reality, an engineer's competence would not impact the assistance of adequate equipment and spare parts availability.

Abstract

This study explores the role of the Majelis Adat Budaya Melayu (MABM) of Singkawang City in preserving the Saprahan tradition, which constitutes an essential element of Malay Sambas cultural identity. MABM Singkawang, established as a traditional institution in 2007, is dedicated to safeguarding and revitalizing Malay customs, values, and cultural expressions in the midst of modernization and multicultural dynamics in Singkawang. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving seven informants representing key cultural stakeholders. Data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing to provide a holistic understanding. Findings reveal that MABM carries out three major roles: providing understanding, supervising, and fostering preservation of Saprahan. The role of providing understanding is realized through educational seminars, cultural festivals, and community outreach programs that raise awareness about the values embedded in Saprahan, such as togetherness, mutual respect, and cooperation. The supervisory role is conducted through regular meetings, participation in community events, and direct monitoring to ensure that Saprahan remains aligned with its original cultural values. Meanwhile, fostering efforts are implemented through guidance programs in schools, cultural competitions like Besurong Saprah, and youth engagement activities aimed at transmitting cultural pride to younger generations. These strategies demonstrate MABM"™s commitment to ensuring the sustainability of Saprahan not only as a ritual of communal dining but also as a living tradition that strengthens social bonds, reinforces cultural identity, and contributes to the resilience of Malay heritage in Singkawang. This study highlights the importance of customary institutions as mediators of cultural continuity and provides insights into how traditional practices can be adapted and preserved in a rapidly changing social context.
