Abstract

Prospective elementary school teachers should not only master knowledge of content material, techniques for creating a work, and proficiency in practical skills. But also how to communicate them effectively and be able to have excellent scientific presentation skills. This is because they will become teachers who must have good scientific presentation skills. There are several aims to conduct this research such as analyzing prospective elementary school teachers’ scientific presentation skills through STEM instructional environment, determining the current levels of scientific presentation skills among prospective elementary school teachers per each indicator, and how STEM approach as an instructional environment is applied in the classroom. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, and the result for scientific presentation skills in total mostly prospective elementary school teachers in a high-level category. The current level is mostly high for how STEM practicums are created and how to use teaching media, the rest of the indicators (content mastery, language style, physical, verbal, vocal expression, timeliness, and confidence) in the medium-level category for scientific presentation skills. STEM can be one of the instructional environments to train the scientific presentation skills of prospective elementary schools. The summary of this research, the scientific presentation skills of prospective elementary school teachers are at a high level for the category through STEM instructional environment. Abstract

This research is motivated by the low social skills of students in social studies learning, especially in relation to daily life. In social studies learning, students have difficulty applying Social Skills. The solution to fix it is to apply Role Playing learning. In order to anticipate this phenomenon, in this study, an approach social studies learning was applied, namely the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach in improving students' Social Skills in social studies lessons. In learning that uses this contextual approach strategy, students are directed to think critically and act logically, creatively, innovatively and tolerantly and are able to build cooperation in their groups. The application of the contextual approach in this study is focused on the discovery of events experienced by students themselves as well as their use in solving problems around students in the context of daily life. This research is a Classroom Action Research. The cycle model consists of 2 cycles, each cycle consists of learning planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The instruments used consisted of interviews, observations, and individual test sheets. The conclusion obtained in this study is that in the initial condition of learning obtained an average score of 65.17, in the first cycle the average score of the pre-test was 67.58 and the post-test score of 87.24 increased by 22.07. In the second cycle, the average score of the pre-test was 87.58 and the post test 91 increased by 3.76. Overall, social studies learning with the application of a contextual approach has experienced a relatively significant increase in social skills both in the student learning process.   Keywords: Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach, role playing learning, social skills

Abstract

One of the characteristics of a healthy environment is an environment that is free of waste. Waste itself can be defined as the remaining waste of products that have been processed or consumed and are no longer used. This problem can be sustainable if not handled wisely because it can lead to water and air pollution, an increase in greenhouse gases, and the spread of disease. As an effort to deal with waste, especially household waste, students carry out community service as a form of output from the implementation of the Educational Professional Strengthening Program (P3K) which is carried out at SDN 1 Munjuljaya with the target of all school residents and student guardians by implementing the Zero Food Waste program through ecoenzyme products. This service aims to invite the school community to utilize the remaining household waste to make ecoenzyme products to improve the character of environmental care at SDN 1 Munjuljaya. The method used in this activity is socialization with a persuasive approach to educating students and parents to be more concerned about the utilization of organic waste by utilizing ecoenzyme to form the character of environmental care at SDN 1 Munjuljaya.

Abstract

This study discusses the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model supported by PhET Simulation media on elementary school students' understanding of mathematical concepts in the topic of fractions. The research method used is a quasi-experimental, utilizing a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The participants included students from class IVB, serving as the experimental group, and class IVC as the control group in an elementary school located in Purwakarta Regency. Analysis of the data indicates that the experimental group, which was instructed using the CTL model supported by PhET Simulation media, showed a notable improvement in their understanding of mathematical concepts compared to the control group, which followed traditional teaching methods. This is evidenced by the N-Gain test scores, where the experimental class achieved an average score of 61.13%, while the control class obtained an average of 44.90%. Additionally, implementing the CTL model with PhET Simulation media resulted in a 15. 9% increase in students' comprehension of mathematical concepts. In summary, the findings suggest that the experimental group displayed enhanced understanding of mathematical concepts following the application of the CTL model, indicating a positive impact of the CTL model on their learning.
