Abstract

The aim of this research is to obtain the effect of chitosan addition on the properties of biodegradation and water uptake for bioplastics. Bioplastic is made from mixing corncob powder and chitosan using by gliserol as plasticizer. Bioplastic is synthesized for gelatinization temperature of 80oC. Chitosan addition is varied to 2, 4, and 6 g. Based on the analysis, the addition of chitosan can significantly decrease water uptake of bioplastic. The lowest percentage of water uptake was 8.59 % by addition 6 gr chitosan. The highest weight loss percentage of bioplastic was 88,42 % which is obtained by the addition of 2 gr chitosan heaped for 15 days in soil. This indicates that the bioplastic has the high biodegradation properties.  Also, the result of FTIR analysis indicated presence of O-H and N-H groups of bioplastics due to the addition of chitosan and glyserol, but their instensity experienced falling down and shifting at the wave numbers after stockpiled.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the functional groups of chemical compounds from ethanol extract of akar bulu leaf (merremia fitovilia) using FT IR spectroscopy. M. fitovilia plant has been known by the people in Luwu as one of the traditional wound healing drugs in people with diabetes mellitus. The phytochemical test is known that the leaves of M. Fitovilia contains with flavanoid, alkaloids, steroids and phenolic compounds. In this study identification of functional groups of chemical compounds from the ethanol extracts of M.fitovilia leaves through sample preparation stages (sample collection, drying and sieving); extraction through ethanol maceration techniques, evaporation and FT IR analysis. The spectroscopic analysis of FT IR indicated that the ethanol extract of bilajang bulu leaves had functional groups of hydroxyl (OH), C-H aliphatic, carbonyl (C = O), olefin carbon (C = C), aromatic carbon, and alkoxy (C-O).

Abstract

Bioplastic was synthesized from starch as a result of the extract from Kepok banana peel and added with cellulose as the result of isolation of sawdust as a filler. Bioplastic mixture is added with glycerol as a plasticizer. Making bioplastics was done by the sol-gel method at a temperature of 90 oC for 1 hour from forming the sol to a bioplastic gel. Cellulose filler material varied from 0, 2, 4, and 6% w / v. The results of biodegradation testing show that bioplastics with the addition of cellulose have a higher rate of degradation than bioplastics without cellulose. Bioplastics with the highest degradation rates were obtained at cellulose addition of 2% w / v which reached degradation up to 100% for 15 days of burial. The phenomenon of bioplastic degradation is evidenced by the results of FTIR characterization which shows that bioplastic samples with cellulose additions have decreased very sharply at several peak absorption after burial. This also occurs in bioplastics without cellulose, but the decrease in peak absorption intensity is no more significant than bioplastics with cellulose addition.

Abstract

Plants are natural ingredients that are widely used as traditional medicines and have been used for a long time by the people of Indonesia, even more popular both for the purpose of health care, treatment, and beauty, one of which is the use of durian rind as an anti-cholesterol drug based on their knowledge for generations. Although it is not yet equipped with scientifically convincing data regarding the content of active compounds that make it a nutritious drug, scientific research is needed in the form of identifying the steroid compounds contained therein. This research used maceration extraction method. A total of 50 grams of durian skin share powder was soaked with 96% ethanol which was carried out for 3 days with replacement fluid. Furthermore, the identification of secondary metabolite compounds by the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) Agilent 7890A-5975C method. Based on the results of a study conducted a share of positive durian skin containing a group of steroid compounds in the form of beta-sitosterol.

Abstract

Dengen fruit is one of the endemic fruit from South Sulawesi which is often found in the forest or in the yard of residents' houses. Dengen fruit contains flavonoid compounds that have the potential as medicine. Flavonoid compounds are known to have pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticancer, antidiabetic, antihypertensive, etc. This study aims to determine the levels of flavonoid compounds from Dengen fruit extract using UV-Vis spectrophotometer method. The method in this study used fresh fruit extract without a thickening process using a rotary evaporator, then tested the levels of flavonoids using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results of the research that have been carried out have obtained the flavonoid content of the Dengen fruit extract, which is 10.23 mg/mL or equivalent to 1.023%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the types of secondary metabolites contained in the ethanol extract of the leaves of Pecut Kuda (Stachytarpetha jamaicensis L) using GC-MS. This research was started by maceration on samples in the form of simplicia powder for 3x24 hours using 96% ethanol as solvent to remove the active compound content in Pecut Kuda leaves. The next step is to identify secondary metabolites using GC-MS. The results of the identification of secondary metabolites in GC-MS showed that the active compounds in the ethanol extract of Pecut Kuda leaves were Linolenic acid, Neophytadiene, Butyl 9,12,15-octadecatrionoate, Hexadecanoic acid, Cyclopenta (c) pyran-4-carboxylic acid. , and Camphene. These active compounds have functions as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibiotic and free radical scavengers in wound healing

Abstract

Penelitian ini tentang uji stabilitas senyawa betasianin dari ekstrak bunga kenop (Gomphrena globosa L.) sebagai pewarna alami bahan pangan, bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lamanya penyimpanan, pengaruh suhu, pengaruh penambahan oksidator dan pengaruh pH terhadap stabilitas senyawa betasianin pada ekstrak bunga kenop. Metode pada penelitian ini melalui proses preparasi sampel, maserasi menggunakan etanol 48%, sampel didestilasi sebanyak 3200 ml yang menghasilkan 500 ml ekstrak bunga kenop. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa suhu 9oC (suhu rendah), 27oC (suhu ruang), pengaruh sumber cahaya 30-35oC (dibawa sinar lampu), 50-55oC (dibawa sinar matahari) dan penambahan oksidator H2O2 (10:1) berpengaruh terhadap stabilitas senyawa betasianin. Sedangkan pH 5 tidak berpengaruh.

Abstract

The increase in population causes an increase in transportation and industrial facilities which results in high demand and consumption of fuel oil (BBM). Therefore, alternative renewable energy sources are needed. One of the alternatives is bioethanol from orange peel waste (Citrus x sinensis) and guava leaves (Psidium Guajava). This study aims to determine how to make bioethanol from sweet orange peel waste and guava leaves and to determine the amount of ethanol produced. Orange peels (Sitrus xsinensis) and guava leaves (Psidium guajava) are commonly found in various areas, especially in Luwu and North Luwu regencies which can be used as alternative fuels. The methods in this study include the manufacture of flour, hydrolysis (for sample A1). The addition of distilled water without hydrolysis (for sample A2), fermentation and distillation to produce 4 ml of ethanol in sample A1. The drawback of this study is that sample A2 does not produce ethanol because the fermentation lasts too long so that the alcohol turns into ester compounds

Abstract

A research has been conducted to investigate the effect of chitosan addition on water uptake and biodegradation properties of bioplastics. Bioplastic was synthesized from starch of palm stem using direct mixing method with chitosan addition at concentration of 2%, 4%, 6%. The average water uptake of 22.46 % with the lowest water uptake was found to be 14.6 % by the addition of 6% chitosan. The highest biodegradation was found to be 76.8 % by the addition of 4 % chitosan within 15 days of burial in soil. In general, the greater the concentration of chitosan leads to greater bioplastic biodegradation rate.

Abstract

Program PKM ini bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh mitra, di mana siswa belum memiliki pengetahuan mengenai potensi bencana di daerahnya. Siswa belum pernah dibekali pengetahuan dalam bentuk pelatihan dalam menghadapi bencana. Sekolah juga belum memiliki sarana dan prasarana mitigasi bencana seperti rambu-rambu dan peta jalur evakuasi. Solusi yang ditawarkan berupa Kegiatan Sekolah Siaga Bencana (SSB). Metode pelaksanaan dibagi ke dalam tiga tahapan yaitu tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan kegiatan, dan monitoring dan evaluasi program. Tahapan persiapan meliputi observasi awal, studi awal, menyiapan dan pemasangan rambu-rambu mitigasi serta penyusunan modul kegiatan. Untuk tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi pemberian materi, simulasi bencana dan evaluasi. Tahapan selanjutnya adalah evaluasi program. Melalui kegiatan ini diketahui bahwa indeks kesiapsiagaan siswa SMA Negeri 11 Luwu menghadapi bencana dalam kategori Tinggi sebesar 34,5%, kategori Sedang sebesar 62,1% dan kategori Rendah sebesar 3,4%.
