Abstract

The research aimed to identify the leading sectors that had the highest contribution to GRDP knows the growth trend of leading sectors, and economic growth quality in Brebes Regency. Analyzed data were collected from BPS, these were GRDP, income per capita, total population, economic growth, and poverty level. Analyse instruments used in the research were location quotient, shift share, Klassen tipology, simple linear regression, Duncan multiple range test, and Williamson index. The leading sector that had the highest contribution to Brebes Regency was agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; the growth trend of leading sectors in 2018-2022 was linear; and, the disparities in the value of income per capita in Brebes compared with neighbor regency/city approached the medium classification. Lastly, the quality of economic growth in the Brebes Regency was poor, measured by the high poverty level.

Abstract

The study addresses the pressing issue of effective pest control in agriculture, focusing on the impact of pesticides on Spodoptera exigua, a notorious pest of agricultural crops. The research aims to investigate the influence of different insecticide active ingredients and concentrations on mortality, feeding inhibition, and damage levels to develop optimal control strategies. The observed variables were mortality, feeding inhibition, and damage level. The study utilized  regression and correlation analysis to determine the influence of harvested area on shallot production and relationship between harvested area and shallot production, generalized linear model (GLM) analysis to evaluate the effects of insecticide treatments and employed Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) to identify the most effective factors. Results indicate that chlorpyrifos emerged as the most potent insecticide in terms of mortality, while chlorantraniliprole + indoxacarb and chlorpyrifos showed high feeding inhibition. Chlorpyrifos, particularly at the recommended concentration, minimized damage levels to the host plant. These findings underscore the importance of considering multiple factors when implementing pest control measures for sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract

Brebes Regency, Indonesia, exhibits significant economic growth but also the highest poverty rate in Pekalongan Residency, indicating uneven development. This study identifies local economic potential and prioritizes infrastructure needs for sustainable economic growth in rapidly developing small towns within Brebes Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and supplemented by secondary data from relevant Local Government Agencies (OPDs), providing insights on existing infrastructure, potential economic activities, and necessary facilities for local development. The analysis utilized qualitative descriptive methods, regression to assess economic growth trends, and Klassen's typology to classify economic activities. Findings indicate significant opportunities in key sectors such as agriculture and fisheries, highlighting the urgent need for targeted infrastructure investments, including rice mills, fish hatcheries, and vocational training centers, to bolster these sectors. The study concludes that strategic infrastructure development, informed by both primary and secondary data sources, is essential for maximizing economic potential and fostering sustainable growth in Brebes Regency's small towns. This research supports informed policy decisions regarding resource allocation and infrastructure planning, contributing to equitable development and enhanced economic resilience in the region.

Abstract

Spodoptera exigua is one of the major pests of shallot plants that is difficult to control by farmers in brebes regency. Control of S. Exigua generally uses chemical insecticides. This study aims to test the efficacy of insecticides against S. Exigua larvae using the bioassay without rearing method, determine the efficacy of insecticides on S. Exigua larvae, and insecticides which is recommended to control S. Exigua larvae. This research uses a quantitative paradigm with an experimental design. The types of insecticides used consist of 7 commercial brands containing different active ingredients and one control tested on S. Exigua larvae from Kedunguter village, Brebes subdistrict, Brebes regency. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis, followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test and hierarchical cluster test. The results showed that the bioassay without rearing method can be used to determine the type of insecticide to be used for controlling S. exigua. Mortality of S. exigua larvae varied against insecticides. The lowest mortality occurred in brand A, brand C, and brand B, while the highest mortality occurred in brand F and brand E. There is a tendency of cross-resistance occurrence in S. exigua between the active ingredients abamectin, emamectin benzoate, and beta-cyfluthrin. Insecticides which recommended to control S. exigua larvae are brand F and brand E.
