Abstract

Universitas Ciputra Surabaya has been known for its Entrepreneurship Education since 2006, and many institutions came to do a benchmark study. More institutions came to Universitas Ciputra Surabaya during the pandemic for requisite entrepreneurship education modules and training. However, articles show conflicting evidence that entrepreneurship education cannot intensify entrepreneurial intention, which leads to a lack of entrepreneurial behavior. Extremely, a journal provided data that entrepreneurship education within several colleges and universities holds little to no responsibility in increasing the entrepreneurial rate among college graduates. This evidence comes from a different context and setting apart from Entrepreneurship Education Curricula developed over the years by Universitas Ciputra Surabaya academics. Of about 58 articles in the journal of entrepreneurship education published by Universitas Ciputra Surabaya academics, 14 articles correlated to entrepreneurial intention. Those 14 articles were processed using meta-analysis. The value of r2 = 0.354 indicates that entrepreneurship education has a very strong influence on entrepreneurial intention. Egger’s test results showed no publication bias within this research. The findings contribute to elevating the efficacy of the stakeholder of Universitas Ciputra Surabaya, especially now that “Program Merdeka Belajar” gives access to a broader community

Abstract

Family-based companies are the pillars of the economy in many countries, but many fail to survive. Based on the theory of business symbiosis, this study investigates the influence of mutualism and entrepreneurial coexistence on the sustainability of family businesses. The study uses quantitative methods. A total of 210 respondents were selected using convenience non-random sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using a covariance-based structural equation model. The results of hypothesis testing prove that a significant influence exists between variables, and entrepreneurial coexistence partially mediates the influence of mutualism on the sustainability of family businesses. Mutualism fosters a collaborative environment that, in turn, positively impacts family business performance. Establishing clear boundaries between family, ownership, and business matters, encouraging open communication, and promoting professional development among family and non-family personnel are all key elements toward sustaining a successful symbiotic relationship. From a practical standpoint, family enterprises must actively manage the inherent tension between emotional attachment and professionalism. Expanding family-business symbiosis theories show how mutualism and entrepreneurial coexistence maintain advantageous dynamics in family enterprises, improving sustainable family operations. Our research emphasizes the work of the theory of family business symbiosis as an alternate theory for sustaining family enterprise.

Abstract

Introduction: This study investigates the influence of service quality, perceived price, and location on customer satisfaction in the context of Soappahollic, a beauty retail business. While prior research has examined these variables individually, limited attention has been given to their combined effects in the beauty retail sector. This research aims to address this gap by analyzing how these three factors simultaneously shape customer satisfaction. Method: The study adopts a quantitative approach using a survey design. Data were collected from 200 Soappahollic customers through simple random sampling. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with the SmartPLS software to evaluate the relationships among service quality, perceived price, location, and customer satisfaction. Result: The analysis revealed that all three independent variables significantly influence customer satisfaction. Specifically, service quality (p = 0.004), perceived price (p = 0.0097), and location (p = 0.0458) were found to have a positive and statistically significant effect. Among these, service quality emerged as the most dominant factor contributing to customer satisfaction. Conclusion: The findings highlight the critical role of integrating high service quality, fair pricing strategies, and strategic store location in enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. This study provides practical insights for managers in the beauty retail industry to design more effective customer service strategies and contributes to the literature by emphasizing the interconnected impact of these variables in a retail setting

Abstract

The rapid growth of specialty retail has encouraged conventional supermarkets to innovate, particularly in enhancing the in-store experience. Ranchmarket Galaxy Surabaya adopted a store relaunching strategy that included changes in layout, product display, visual merchandising, in-store promotions, and staff service. However, its implementation faced challenges such as limited supplier support, insufficient promotional funds, and weak communication of promotional programs. This study explores the effect of store relaunching elements on consumer repurchase behavior using a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and online questionnaires with 20 consumers who had visited the store after the relaunch. The Stimulus–Organism–Response (S-O-R) framework was applied to analyze how physical and promotional stimuli influence consumer perceptions and trigger behavioral responses. The findings show that appealing visual merchandising, smoother store navigation, effective bundling promotions, and proactive staff service collectively shape positive perceptions, strengthen emotional attachment, and encourage repeat purchases. Nevertheless, the study is limited by its small sample size and single-location focus, which restricts the generalization of results. Future research should involve larger samples and comparative studies across different retail formats.

Abstract

This study focuses on the importance of service quality in enhancing student satisfaction and retention in higher education, with the Management Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Ciputra University as the research subject. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of service quality on student satisfaction and retention. The theoretical framework underpinning this research is the SERVQUAL model, which measures service quality through the dimensions of tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. A quantitative approach is employed, targeting a population of 500 students from the 2022-2023 academic year, with a sample size of 217 respondents determined using the Krejcie and Morgan table. The research instrument consists of 40 indicators adapted from relevant journals, utilizing a five-point Likert scale to measure service quality, student satisfaction, and retention. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Square (PLS) with the aid of SmartPLS software, allowing  for  simultaneous  evaluation  of  both  the measurement and structural models. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for department management to enhance service quality and, consequently, improve student satisfaction and retention at Ciputra University.
