Abstract

Background: The issue of waste management has become a major concern in many regions, including Pandansari Lor Village, Malang Regency. To address this challenge, it is necessary to develop an effective waste management system that involves the active participation of the community. This study aims to determine the waste composition in Pandansari Lor Village as a basis for developing a 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) Waste Transfer Station system that is tailored to the needs of the community. Method: The research methodology includes primary data collection through sampling and analysis of waste composition, as well as secondary data collection from relevant sources. Findings: The results show that the waste composition in Pandansari Lor Village is dominated by organic waste, including food waste (58.42%) and garden waste (3.84%), followed by plastic waste (26.74%), paper waste (5.89%), and other types of waste. Conclusion: These findings provide valuable insights for the design and implementation of a community-based 3R Waste Transfer Station system that can effectively manage the waste generated in the village. The proposed system aims to maximize resource recovery, reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, and promote sustainable waste management practices within the community. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study develops a waste disposal model tailored to the specific waste composition of the village, focusing on processing organic waste into high-quality compost and recycling plastic into products of economic value. The model also integrates a community-based education system to increase participation in waste sorting at source.

Abstract

Background: Waste management is a critical issue in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas like Pandansari Lor Village in Malang Regency. Improper waste disposal practices, such as open burning and dumping in rivers, pose environmental and health hazards. This study aims to analyze the waste generation characteristics in Pandansari Lor Village as a baseline for planning a community-based Reduce, Reuse, Recycl waste processing site/Tempat Pengolahan Sampah Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPS 3R). Method: A waste sampling method was conducted following the SNI 19-3964-1994 guidelines to measure the waste generation rate, density, and composition. Findings: Household waste data analysis shows that low-income households generate 39.1% of the total waste, while middle and high income households contribute 28.7% and 32.2%, respectively. The amount of waste per day was recorded at 9.73 kg on Friday for low income households, while for middle and high income households, the highest amount of waste occurred on Monday with 8.56 kg and 9.09 kg, respectively. Conclusion: These findings indicate fluctuations in waste generation patterns based on income levels, with certain days producing larger amounts of waste. Novelty/Originality of this article: This study proposes a 3R TPS model adapted to rural waste, focusing on organic waste composting and plastic recycling. This model is designed to increase community participation in waste management through community-based education and empowerment.

Abstract

Retribution refers to the payment imposed for the provision of market service facilities carried out by the local government. Its implementation must be conducted properly and in accordance with statutory regulations to ensure optimal benefits for the community. However, in practice, the collection of retribution fees at Simpang Sari Market differs from the stipulations outlined in Article 18, Paragraph (2) of the Regent Regulation of West Lampung Regency, which states: “Retribution officers are prohibited from altering or increasing the amount of the retribution fee.” In reality, the amount of retribution collected by officers diverges from the officially prescribed tariff. This study aims to investigate and analyze the implementation of market service retribution collection at Simpang Sari Market, and to examine it from the perspective of Fiqh Siyasah Tanfidziyyah (the Islamic theory of administrative governance). The research adopts a field research methodology using a descriptive approach, with data gathered through interviews and direct observation. Data were collected from pre-selected informants to ensure accuracy and relevance for this study. Although the local government has established regulations and provided implementation guidelines for the collection of market service retribution, several issues have emerged in practice. These include a lack of understanding among market vendors regarding the retribution system, poor coordination among collection officers, and the involvement of unauthorized individuals who collect fees outside the formal governmental structure.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to determine the independence of Children with Special Needs (ABK) through scouting methods at SLB Negeri Punung. The research was descriptive qualitative with a single case study approach. The informants consisted of 2 teachers as scout leaders and 5 students, chosen to use purposive sampling. Data collection methods consist of observation, interviews and documentation. Qualitative data analysis was chosen to use the Miles concept and Huberman through three activities, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/ verification. The results obtained in this study are: 1) scouting activities at SLB Negeri Punung are superior extracurricular activities by implementing scouting methods including the scout code of honor, learning by doing, and partnerships with adult members, 2) scouting activities have implications for student independence, the observed indicators include initiative, self-confidence, decision-making ability and progressiveness, 3) obstacles in this activity are the difficulty in understanding the material presented by the teacher, so it requires support from parents and teachers to increase student participation.
