Abstract

Digital transformation has significantly reshaped Islamic philanthropy practices, particularly in the realm of charity (sadaqah). This article explores online giving as a form of multidimensional altruism that encompasses spiritual, social, economic, and psychological dimensions. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through content analysis and literature review, this study examines the role of social media, Muslim influencers, and digital platforms such as Kitabisa.com in shaping the culture of charitable giving among digital Muslim communities. The findings reveal that online charity serves not only as an efficient tool for wealth distribution but also as a contemporary medium for expressing practical spirituality and fostering new forms of cross-boundary social solidarity. However, the transformation also brings ethical and spiritual challenges, particularly concerning intention and authenticity of giving in automated or publicly exposed systems. This article advocates for a reflective approach to the design of Islamic philanthropic technologies to ensure that they remain spiritually meaningful as well as functionally effective.

Abstract

The lack of Sharia economic literacy among rural MSME actors is one of the main reasons for their preference toward loans from conventional banks over Sharia-compliant financing. Limited understanding of the concept of riba (usury), Sharia contractual principles (akad), the easier access to conventional banking services, and the absence of structured Islamic financial education have further reinforced the dependence of MSMEs on interest-based financial systems. This study aims to analyze the level of Sharia economic literacy among rural MSME actors, identify the influencing factors, and formulate strategies to enhance awareness and access to Islamic financing in rural areas. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research is expected to contribute to the formulation of educational and inclusive policies that support the transition of MSMEs toward financing systems aligned with Sharia principles.

Abstract

This systematic review maps how innovation, technology adoption, and Islamic entrepreneurial behaviors are intertwined and contribute to the SDGs. Searches in Scopus followed PRISMA 2020: of the 166 initial records, 46 were eliminated prior to screening; 120 filtered by title–abstract; 45 read in full; and 25 articles were analyzed in depth. Four RQs lead the synthesis: the form of innovation/adoption (RQ1), impact on behavior and performance (RQ2), and their relationship to the SDGs (RQ3). The findings show five complementary faces of innovation: (1) process-organization (knowledge management, open innovation; innovation capability), (2) sharia business/finance models (sharia venture capital, agricultural value chain finance), (3) financial and platform digitalization (fintech, Islamic crowdfunding), (4) technological innovation in business models (e.g., urban farming–aquaponics) that are value-framed, and (5) halal product/marketing innovation (halal assurance and halal trust). Behind that, the drivers are layered: individual values and psychology, Islamic HRM cultural orientation and organizational learning, Islamic finance architecture and regulation, and access to digital literacy and trust in the platform. The impact is multidimensional performance, access to ethical capital, halal market behavior, and social and religious environmental outcomes with strong contributions to SDG 8 and SDG 9, and footprints on SDGs 1–2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17. This SLR offers an integrated financial innovation value framework and proposes SDGs micro-indicators; limitations mainly in the variation of measurements and the dominance of cross-section designs.

Abstract

Affiliate marketing has emerged as a digital business model that offers significant opportunities to expand market reach and increase revenue through performance-based partnerships. In Indonesia, with the largest Muslim population, affiliate marketing, especially related to halal products, has great potential to grow, supporting the development of the digital economy and Islamic economy. The rapidly growing Islamic economy in Indonesia is driven by the need for a riba-free financial system and adaptive regulations, while affiliate marketing provides opportunities for small businesses and individual entrepreneurs to participate in the digital economy. However, significant challenges arise in maintaining brand integrity, preventing fraud, and ensuring alignment with Islamic economic principles, such as justice, transparency, and the prohibition of haram elements. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive study to explore the implementation of affiliate marketing in the Islamic economy, focusing on how this model can be integrated with Islamic principles. Data is collected through semi-structured interviews with digital business practitioners and literature analysis related to Islamic economic principles and affiliate marketing. Data analysis is conducted using content analysis techniques to identify the alignment between affiliate marketing practices and Islamic principles. The results of this research are expected to provide insights into the application of business ethics in affiliate marketing strategies, as well as the importance of monitoring to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. This study also aims to demonstrate how affiliate marketing can contribute to the growth of a more just, transparent, and sustainable economy, while strengthening Indonesia's position in the global halal industry.

Abstract

This study addresses the increasing complexity of cross-border halal trade, where fragmented certification regimes and differing regulatory and fiqh-based approaches raise verification costs and weaken trust. The purpose of this research is to develop and evaluate a digital halal assurance framework that enables Artificial Intelligence (AI)–blockchain halal traceability to support cross-border certification harmonization by making compliance evidence interoperable, verifiable, and auditable. The study uses a qualitative multiple-case design involving regulators, certification bodies and auditors, manufacturers and suppliers, logistics providers, and laboratories. Data were collected through document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and expert review workshops, and analyzed using thematic analysis with cross-case synthesis to derive design requirements. Results show that harmonization relies on institutional arrangements for recognizing evidence; three outputs are pivotal: a shared minimum evidence baseline, a rule-based and updateable equivalence mapping, and a trust registry with accountability and revocation oversight. These elements also shape system architecture toward permissioned consortium governance. Interoperability is the main bottleneck because evidence is dispersed across heterogeneous formats; a minimum data set, selective disclosure, and a hybrid off-chain/on-chain architecture with standardized interfaces and schema versioning are needed to reduce manual reconciliation. Blockchain functions as an evidence engine that anchors audit trails, integrity proofs, and revocation-aware verification via smart contracts. The study concludes that harmonization requires aligning governance, data standards, and evidence mechanisms, and recommends phased implementation and support measures to avoid excluding small and medium enterprises.
