Abstract

Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) merupakan virus yang sangat mematikan dan memberikan banyak gejala berat. Hingga saat ini belum ditemukan obat dan penatalaksanaan terapi pengobatannya. Minum jamu merupakan tradisi yang hingga saat ini masih dilakukan masyarakat Indonesia sebagai salah satu upaya pencegahan penyakit dan meningkatkan imunitas tubuh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas kombinasi jamu herbal untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh sebagai alternatif pencegahan COVID-19. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan wawancara sebelum dan sesudah pemberian jamu herbal. Data dianalisis dan didapatkan hasil bahwa jamu herbal dari biji buah pinang (Areca cathecu), biji buah pala (Myristica fragrans), akar alang-alang (Imperata cylindrical), kacang hijau (Vigna radiate) dan daun pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis) secara signifikan dapat menurunkan gejala COVID-19 berupa demam, nyeri tenggorokan dan sesak nafas.

Abstract

The problem of eating disorders in children can cause health problems, so a strategy is needed for feeding children, one of which is herbal lempuyang. Gummy candy is a soft, jeli-like confectionery product that has an attractive color, smell, taste, and shape and is easy to chew. The purpose of this study was to make a nutraceutical formulation of gummy candy from lempuyang gajah and find out its benefits in increasing children's appetite. This research is experimental, with pre- and post-test designs. Lempuyang Gajah gummy candy is made with three formulations: 25 gram, 20 gram, and 15 gram. The three formulations were tested on respondents aged 6–10 years in each gramoup of 10 children for 1 week. The selection of respondents was based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Measuring the increase in appetite is proven by measuring the increase in weight of the child after treatment. According to the results of this study, the three formulations have a yellowish color, smell like candy, a sweet taste, and are solid and chewy. Giving lempuyang gajah gummy candy at levels of 25, 20, and 15 gramams is proven to increase body weight, but only at levels of 25 gramams does it give statistically significant results with a p-value of 0,000. Improvements in children's appetite were measured by interviews with the parents of respondents about their children's eating habits. The result was an increase in children's appetite in the gramoup with 25 gramams of lempuyang, with a significant value of 0,016.

Abstract

The background of the community service program is to address the community's needs for environmentally friendly, healthy, and chemical-free health products. Skin health for urban communities is a crucial aspect, as living in a city area is often synonymous with exposure to intense sunlight, pollution, dust, and smoke, which can damage skin health. However, it is not uncommon for modern health products to contain chemicals that can damage the skin. Therefore, a healthy, natural, and inexpensive health product is needed. Herbal scrub is a product that meets the demand for natural health products. This community service program was conducted in Bendul Merisi Village, Surabaya, in which the participants were housewives. From this community service program, the participants gained an understanding of herbal scrub products, their benefits, manufacturing processes, ingredients, uses, and economic benefits.

Abstract

Sanitasi yang baik merupakan indikator penting dalam menjaga kesehatan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi kondisi jamban di Puskesmas - Puskesmas di Surabaya melalui survei dengan menggunakan form dengan skala Likert, observasi langsung, wawancara dengan petugas, dan analisis dokumen. Form yang dipakai yaitu form gabungan standar jamban / toilet bersih dan sehat berdasarkan Kementerian Pekerjaan Umum dan Perumahan Rakyat, Asosiasi Toilet Indonesia, ASEAN, dan WHO. Standard kemudian disebut sebagai PUPRplus. Tim Panitia surveyor dibagi menjadi 15 zona survey. Dari total 63 Puskesmas yang dikelola Dinas Kesehatan Kota Surabaya, terdapat 2 Puskesmas yang tidak berhasil disurvey secara langsung. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa skor berkisar dari 69 sampai 141, skor diatas 131 terdapat 12 Puskesmas. Temuan ini diharapkan menjadi dasar bagi pemerintah daerah dalam memperbaiki sanitasi dan air bersih yang layak sekaligus mendukung pencapaian target pembangunan berkelanjutan (SDGs) khususnya SDG ke 6.

Abstract

Introduction: Onion and ginger have been widely used as painkillers empirically. Its use is always associated with administration by mouth rather than application to the skin. Elderly people often experience joint pain in connection with their aging condition or because of the disease they suffer. Objective: This literature study is to determine the effectiveness of giving onion and ginger as pain relievers in topical administration to joint pain areas. Method: literature study with inclusion criteria, namely: articles including primary literature, articles in English or Indonesian, articles containing onion for topical joint pain, articles containing ginger for topical joint pain, research articles available in full text, and articles in the form of original articles. Result and Discussion: Three journals were found with a total of 101 elderly respondents suffering from joint pain. Given shallot compresses, 10% and 20% ginger cream, and ginger plaster Measurement of the pain scale by means of the visual analog scale and the WOMAC questionnaire The results showed that all groups of shallot compresses, 10% and 20% ginger cream, and ginger plaster reduced the joint pain of elderly respondents compared to the control group. Conclusion: Based on the literature study conducted, it is concluded that the administration of onion and ginger is effective for reducing joint pain in the elderly in all types of topical administration, whether given in the form of compresses, extract creams, or plasters

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion and an imbalance between insulin supply and demand. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), diabetes mellitus is better known as Xiao Ke. In TCM, Xiao Ke disease is caused by internal heat exhaustion deficiency, and one of the traditional treatments for diabetes is the herbal Huang Qi (Radix astragali). Method: This research is a case study, where the researcher makes an in-depth observation of the use of Huang Qi herbs in diabetes mellitus patients. Result and Discussion: The results of diabetes treatment in the initial observation of the patient's blood sugar were 152 mg/dL, and in week 4, it decreased to 86 mg/dL. Isoflavonoids, saponins, and polysaccharides are the three main types of beneficial compounds that have pharmacological activity and therapeutic efficacy in many diseases, one of which is diabetes. In TCM, Huang Qi is beneficial for tonifying Qi and strengthening Yang in spleen Qi deficiency so that the spleen can increase its effectiveness in transformation and transportation. Conclusion: The results of the treatment of diabetes mellitus, or Xiao Ke, using Huang Qi herbs are proven to be able to reduce blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Abstract

Introduction: A frozen shoulder is a medical condition that causes pain and stiffness in the shoulder, limiting mobility and daily activities. Traditional therapy is not always effective, so acupuncture therapy is an alternative that can improve joint function and mobility. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the benefits of acupuncture therapy in cases of frozen shoulders. Method: The research method used is a case study with a pre-post test design. The research sample consisted of five patients with frozen shoulder. Result and Discussion: The therapy was carried out three times, and the acupuncture points used were LI 15, LI 14, SI 9, SI 10, SI 11, SI 12, and GV16. The variables observed were the level of pain and stiffness in the shoulder before and after acupuncture therapy. Conclusion: The results showed that acupuncture therapy for treating frozen shoulder showed significant changes, with an average previous VAS scale of 4.8 to 0.6, so it can be concluded that acupuncture has been proven effective as an alternative therapy for frozen shoulder cases

Abstract

Introduction: Gastric disease, or gastric pain, is discomfort in the pit of the stomach, including nausea, vomiting, feeling full in the stomach, bloating, and belching. The main causes of gastric pain are irregular eating patterns, not being able to manage stress, consumption of alcohol and cigarettes, ulcers in the stomach, and side effects of anti-inflammatory drugs. Gastric pain treatment can be done in conventional and traditional ways. Traditional medicine by means of acupuncture is a treatment technique that involves inserting special needles into certain points. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of acupuncture therapy on Zhong Wan (CV 12), Zu San Li (ST 36), Qimen (LR 14), Taichong (LR 3), Weishu (BL 21), and Neiguan (PC 6) points of patients with gastric pain at the Mustika Surabaya Foundation. Method: This research method is qualitative with a case study approach. This research was conducted between October and December 2022 with 10 therapies. The data was collected through interviews and direct measurements of the respondents. Result and Discussion: The results of the study showed that there was a change in respondent’s statements that they became more comfortable and reduced pain after carrying out acupuncture therapy. Conclusion: Treatment using the acupuncture method can effectively treat gastric pain

Abstract

Introduction: Menstrual pain, or dysmenorrhea, is pain or cramps in the lower abdomen that appear before or during menstruation. Dysmenorrhea can be mild or so severe that it interferes with activities. According to TCM, painful menstruation is caused by Qi and poor blood circulation caused by the clotting of cold and damp blood by pathogens. Objective: The purpose of this study was to see the effect of acupuncture therapy on reducing menstrual pain. Method: The research method used in the treatment of menstrual pain through acupuncture therapy is a qualitative research method with an interview and observation approach. In the process of this research, an observational approach was carried out because there were several respondents who experienced menstrual pain. Result and Discussion: Based on the results of the study, acupuncture therapy was carried out nine times with a quantity of three times a week, 5-7 days before the menstrual period, for three menstrual cycles, and the menstrual pain experienced by the client experienced a significant change. Conclusion: This is marked by a change in the pain scale from 7 to 1. In addition, the volume of menstruation also decreases, the color of the blood is lighter and not darker than before, and there are no clots.
