Abstract

Background: Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lung parenchyma. Pneumonia became the first most lung health problem in West Lombok. Smoking is one of the main factors in CAP. This study aims to determine the relationship between smoking status and severity of inpatient CAP patients. Methods: Case control study design was used with medical record measurement tools. A total of 70 samples were taken using a purposive sampling technique for community pneumonia patients (CAP) at Patut Patuh Patju Regional General Hospital Gerung, West Lombok in November 2021-October 2022. Calculation of the severity of CAP patients used the PSI score. Results: The results obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p-value <0.05) for smoker status with a degree of severity of CAP, and a p-value of 0.064 (p-value> 0.05) for a degree of smoking with a degree of severity of CAP. The estimated risk (OR) for smoking status with the severity of CAP is 19.33.Conclusions: There is a significant relationship between smoking status, but not with smoking degree, to severity of CAP at Patut Patuh Patju Gerung Regional General Hospital, West Lombok.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Maximal Oxygen Uptake (VO2Max) plays an important role in athletes’ achievements at the Pusat Pendidikan dan Latihan Pelajar – Nusa Tenggara Barat/PPLP – NTB (Student Sports Education and Training Center – West Nusa Tenggara). The VO2Max in athletes is influenced by various factors such as gender, body mass index (BMI), training duration, and type of sport they are trained for. Determining the relationship between gender, body mass index (BMI), duration of training, and type of sport with VO2Max in PPLP NTB athletes. Observational analytical research is used with a cross-sectional research design, along with a chi-square statistical test. Meanwhile, total sampling was employed for 55 PPLP NTB athletes.  The highest VO2Max was the good category accounted for 60.38%, while those who fell into the poor category comprised of 33.96%.  The results of the p-value analysis between gender and VO2Max were 0.091; BMI and VO2Max were 0.662; training duration and VO2Max were 0.408; and type of sport and VO2Max were 0.158. There is no significant relationship between gender, BMI, training duration, and type of sport and VO2Max in NTB PPLP athletes. Keywords: Maximal Oxygen Uptake, Gender, Body Mass Index, Training Duration, Type of Sport  ABSTRAK Volume Oksigen Maksimal (VO2Max) memainkan peran penting dalam pencapaian prestasi olahraga atlet Pusat Pendidikan dan Latihan Olahraga Pelajar (PPLP) Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB).

Abstract

ABSTARCT Pneumonia is an acute lung tissue infection caused by bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Pneumonia is still one of the main infectious diseases and causes of morbidity and mortality that attacks many toddlers in Indonesia. This study aims to determine LBW, exclusive breastfeeding, and exposure to cigarette smoke with severe pneumonia in toddlers at Patut Patuh Patju Hospital, West Lombok. This study used a cross-sectional design and focused on quantitative observational analysis. The results of the study showed that between LBW and severe pneumonia in toddlers based on the results of bivariate analysis using the chi-square test on 100 respondents, a p-value of 0.005 was found. Between the incidence of severe pneumonia in toddlers and exclusive breastfeeding, based on the results of bivariate analysis with the chi-square test, a p-value of 0.003 was obtained. Between exposure to cigarette smoke and severe pneumonia in toddlers, the p-value was 0.000. There is a statistically significant relationship between low birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, and exposure to cigarette smoke with the incidence of severe pneumonia in toddlers.  Keywords: Pneumonia, Exclusive Breastfeeding, BBLR, Exposure to Cigarette Smoke. Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, basic immunization, parental smoking, and the occurrence of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) in infants aged 0-24 months at the Bagu Health Center in 2024. This study is a quantitative research with an observational approach, using a cross-sectional design. The sample size for this study was 60 samples, selected using purposive sampling technique. The study was conducted at the Bagu Health Center, Central Lombok Regency, in September 2024. The data obtained were analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results of this study showed that univariate analysis revealed that 33 (55.0%) children experienced ARI, 33 (50.8%) infants received exclusive breastfeeding, 47 (78.3%) respondents had complete basic immunization status, and 39 (65.0%) respondents had smoking parents. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and ARI with a p-value of 0.001 (PR: 0.307, 95% CI: 0.173-0.544). A significant relationship was also found between complete basic immunization and ARI with a p-value of 0.035 (PR: 0.553, 95% CI: 0.377-0.811). A significant relationship was also found between parental smoking and ARI with a p-value of 0.001 (PR: 3.904, 95% CI: 1.586-9.609).
