Abstract

Landak Industrial Park (KIL; Kawasan Industri Landak) is a national strategic project for Industrial Estates in West Kalimantan and is included in the List of 14 Priority Industrial Estate Developments Outside Java Island in the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN; Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional). The construction of KIL is experiencing delays, and to prevent the project from stalling, the main sources of industrial growth are new investment and increased utility from the current capacity. This study’s approach is both qualitative and quantitative. The analysis technique used is SWOT analysis using Internal Strategic Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS) and External Strategic Factor Analysis Summary  (EFAS), developed using spatial analysis techniques from the concept of economic aggregation, which then generates value propositions and makes them the basis of a marketing strategy that includes market segmentation (segmenting), setting market targets (targeting), and creating a unique position (positioning). The result is from the SWOT analysis. KIL is in the turnaround quadrant, a position with a strategy of maximizing opportunities because it has major internal weaknesses. The geographical reach of other economic groups or business clusters that are quite close together is a trigger for the development of KIL. Scenarios from the KIL development strategy are expected to support strategic business decisions.

Abstract

One of the most popular tourist destinations in East Java is Batu City, which had been visited by 2.4 million tourists in 2021 during the pandemic, regardless of the fact that 7.2 million tourists normally have visited the city annually before the outbreak. Flash floods that struck Batu City in November 2021 resulted in significant damage and losses which affected several tourism villages. The preparedness of Batu City for potential natural catastrophes was identified throughout this study. It is essential to think of both technological and non-technical ways as preventive measures before a tragedy arises, given how eager travelers are to visit Batu City. Several city-scale analyses are conducted, notably by doing spatial analysis with the use of GIS technology in order to understand land use and probable flow routes. A livelihood asset analysis was used as a methodological and indicator assessment of disaster preparedness in one of the Resilient Village (Destana). The findings indicate that land conversion in production and protected forest areas change into agricultural areas is one factor that triggers flash floods. After a ten-year decline, only 20% of the forest stands are left in hilly and steep terrain, with the rest being farmland and human settlements. Meanwhile, an assessment of the community preparedness in the Tourism Village reveals that the community has a strong capability in terms of financial, social, and natural capital.

Abstract

Social capital is a key element in sustainable development and natural resource management. In the context of clean water management, an in-depth understanding of social capital can reveal the dynamics of social interactions between individuals and groups in the community. Social capital includes aspects of trust, social networks, and social norms that shape the way people interact and cooperate. This research aims to evaluate the condition of community social capital in utilizing clean water in Pagak District through SEM-PLS analysis. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 267 households, distributed proportionately in each village in Pagak District. The research results show that most of the factors studied reflect the condition of social capital. However, there are several factors that were considered immaterial and were removed from the analysis model. These factors include trust in individuals with different ethnic or cultural backgrounds, cultural activities in the village, and payment of water source maintenance fees. This research emphasizes the need for a holistic and collaborative research approach to understand the social capital of village communities in the context of clean water management, involving various scientific disciplines and stakeholders.

Abstract

Driyorejo Sub-district in Gresik Regency hosts hundreds of medium and large-scale industries, making it a rapidly expanding industrial corridor that influences local economic development. However, industrial locations vary across all villages, with major investment and labor pockets primarily concentrated near primary collector roads. Such rapid growth has sparked concerns about spatial planning and environmental impacts, prompting an analysis of the industrial distribution patterns. This research aims to identify how these medium and large industries are spatially distributed, given their significant economic, environmental, and spatial influences. A cluster/K-nearest neighbor approach was used to characterize their distribution as random, clustered, or uniform, based on type, number, and specific locations. Results show 3 villages with clustered patterns, 9 villages with random (uneven) distribution, and 4 villages with uniform (even) distribution. These patterns affect physical infrastructure and community socio-economic activities, with uniform patterns indicating broader dispersal and higher local impact. Research limitations include focusing solely on medium and large industries and analyzing only the spatial distribution rather than broader supply-chain or policy dimensions. These findings highlight the need for more balanced industrial planning to manage the interplay between industrial expansion and community well-being.
