Abstract

Abstract

At present, inclusive growth is a major issue in economic development. Inclusive growth encourages individuals to access education, health and other components that support a better standard of living. In East Java, high economic growth is followed by a high level of income inequality. The role of government is needed to encourage more quality growth through investment financing in the form of education and health investments. The purpose of this study is (i) to determine the relationship between financing of human capital investment and economic growth and (ii) to determine the impact of financing human capital investment on growth inclusiveness in East Java. The analysis method uses simultaneous regression method with two main equations. The findings show that financing of human capital investment has a significant effect on economic growth. This means that human capital investment can be used as an alternative policy to encourage economic growth in East Java. However, there is a problem that only a certain percentage of people with high levels of education, health and purchasing power enjoy economic growth. The second finding explains that inclusiveness can occur if the government encourages the effectiveness of financing the education sector which is still limited to increasing quantity but weak in the quality and productivity of the education sector. So that the existing human resource capacity is not able to encourage the creation of growth inclusiveness in East Java.

Abstract

Surabaya is a coastal city with high economic and tourism potential. Three main things that have been done by the city government (physical development, sustainable development programs, and economic strengthening) need to be noted, for example, the non-optimal management of the tourism potential of the coastal area and the imbalance between the tourist area and the surrounding fishing villages. On that basis, this research tries to answer various issues related to the optimization of tourism development in the coastal area of Bulak, Surabaya. This research is initial research that maps the various potentials (owned by the Bulak coastal area of Surabaya), which is then followed up by offering development strategies. This research used a descriptive model qualitative approach. The initial study was conducted by analyzing various planning documents, which were then followed up with field observations and interviews with key people. In the final stage, the researcher then analyzed the development strategy. The results of this study state that Bulak sub-district has nine tourism objects that have the potential to be developed in the coastal area. The proposed development strategy (based on the results of data processing) is an aggressive maintenance strategy. This is done by strengthening inward by making improvements in various fields. In addition, the development strategy also needs to be collaborative, especially with the city government, while still paying attention to various ecological issues Keywords: Tourism Potential Assessment, Aggressive Maintenance Strategy, Surabaya Coastal Area

Abstract

The debate over whether digital transformation benefits or harms inclusive growth continues. Existing evidence in the literature, on the other hand, is frequently based on short study periods, subjective measurement issues, and endogeneity issues, resulting in less credible findings in previous studies. To address this gap, this study draws on four decades of Indonesian experience spanning 1980 to 2021, with a focus on two primary objectives. First, this study utilises Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to assess the key factors forming the progress of digital transformation and inclusive growth. Second, the Two-Stage Least Square (2SLS) estimation method is applied in this study to investigate the endogenous impact of digital transformation on inclusive growth. The PCA results show that medium and high-tech manufacturing play a dominant role in representing digital transformation, while GDP per capita growth and poverty alleviation are the primary contributors to measuring inclusive growth. The 2SLS estimation shows that digital transformation significantly promotes inclusive growth in Indonesia, with its impact closely related to the previous year's digital transformation status. When these findings are considered jointly, it is clear that the beneficial effects of digital transformation are mainly explained by how medium and high-tech manufacturing sectors can stimulate inclusive growth in the context of increasing GDP per capita and reducing poverty in Indonesia.

Abstract

Information and communication technology has revolutionized the banking sector and at its peak during the Covid 19 pandemic, most transactions can be carried out without the need to visit a bank and using mobile banking applications. In Indonesia, there are two banks that are most popular in using m-banking, m-BCA which is managed by a private bank and Livin by Mandiri which is managed by a state-owned company. The aim of this research is to analyze whether there are differences of trust, service quality and perceived risk on customer satisfaction in private and government managed m-Banking. The research method uses a quantitative approach based on data collected through online surveys. There are 180 active m-Banking customers with generation Z and Millennial demographics, students and productive workers. The results show that the factors that influence customer satisfaction in using m-Banking lie in the aspects of service quality and trust, while perceived risk has no effect. Furthermore, differences in the influence of m-banking application service quality determine customer satisfaction. Where, m-BCA customers are relatively more satisfied because the service is in accordance with the promises, transaction speed, security, attractive visual appearance, the application is more responsive and easier than the Livin by Mandiri. For generation Z and millennials, the use of digital banking applications is more influenced by the application's ability to meet transaction needs rather than threat factors such as the speed of computing personal data, cyber-crime and bank system errors.

Abstract

Financial satisfaction has changed since the Covid-19 pandemic since many people experience health problems, lose their jobs, until psychological disorders. This study aims to determine the factors driving income earners' financial satisfaction before and during the Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia. The variables studied are religiosity, ethnicity, and health level related to financial activities. This research method uses a quantitative approach to estimate the factors that influence financial satisfaction using multiple linear regression and comparison tests between financial satisfaction before and during the Covid-19 outbreak. There are 159 respondents in this study. The research result shows that religiosity and the ethnic had no significant effect on financial satisfaction before and during the Covid-19 outbreak. Yet, the health level significantly impacted financial satisfaction before and during the Covid-19 outbreak. Health level is an essential factor so that a person can work very well to generate income and obtain financial satisfaction. The respondents’ financial satisfaction before and during the Covid-19 is significantly different. Respondents also have more financial anxiety during the Covid-19 outbreak. The research implication is that the Indonesian people must consider financial planning that suits with financial conditions. Due to the more suitable financial planning, it will increase Indonesian financial satisfaction even during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Abstract

Malang Regency is known as one of the coffee agro-industry centers in East Java, where most of the coffee bean production in this area is produced by small-scale farmers. One of them is a coffee farmer community in the Kucur Village who belongs to the Republik Tani Mandiri (RTM) farmer group. The farmers' lands in Kucur Village are located on the slopes of Mount Kawi, at an altitude of 850-1,000 mdpl. The climate and fertile soil conditions in the area meet the requirements for coffee cultivation, especially for the Arabica type. The challenge of coffee development in Kucur Village lies in the fact that the produced coffee beans product (green beans) has not yet met high quality standards, necessitating the improvement of post-harvest processing techniques or further processing the beans into ground coffee to achieve a higher added value. This community service program aims to provide training and mentoring on standard post-harvest coffee bean processing techniques. The program was conducted in a participatory manner, beginning with the alignment of common goals and expectations with our farmer group counterpart. Then we continued with training on sorting, fermentation, drying, and storage techniques, which includes practical exercises. The farmer group counterparts' processing unit serves as the location for the training. The next stage is to provide assistance and evaluate the results of the training through testing the quality and taste of the Arabica coffee beans produced. There were four samples tested, each representing a different processing technique. Based on the results of the coffee bean quality test, all samples were met the criteria of Grade 1, or premium beans. Meanwhile, the cupping test results showed that all samples are scored above 80 points, indicating their classification as specialty coffee. These results suggest that the coffee beans has the potential to be developed as single origin coffee products, in the effort to enhance the economic value and welfare of the RTM coffee farmers.
