Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the impact of fear of missing out and interactivity on online compulsive buying and brand addiction, drawing upon the theoretical framework of compensating the internet use method. The data were obtained through an online questionnaire, which was satisfactorily filled out by 133 participants. The participants were individuals who had engaged in online compulsive buying behavior and exhibited addiction to purchasing specific brands. The statistical data analysis involved utilizing structural equation modeling with partial least squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that the presence of fear of missing out and interactivity have the potential to enhance consumers’ propensity to engage in online compulsive buying and develop brand addiction. Individuals who exhibit a proclivity for engaging in obsessive online purchasing behavior might have been incentivized to develop brand addiction. The researchcontributes to the existing literature on the theory of compensating internet use. It proposes that individuals may be motivated to participate in online activities to alleviate negative feelings from challenging situations.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service aims to strengthen the empowerment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in South Sulawesi through assistance in preparing financial statements. Through a series of workshops, trainings, and individual mentoring sessions, we provide an in-depth understanding of the significance of financial statements and equip MSME owners with practical skills to compile, read, and analyze their financial statements. The mentoring method involves organizing interactive workshops led by experienced financial practitioners and individual mentoring sessions tailored to the needs of each MSME. In addition, we provide online resources as a learning platform that MSMEs can access flexibly, including guides, financial statement templates, and relevant case studies. Outcomes of the service include improved MSMEs' understanding of financial reporting, significant financial empowerment, and increased access to external financial support. MSMEs that participated in the program were able to produce clear financial statements, providing a basis for smarter decision-making and increasing their chances of securing financial support from financial institutions. With a focus on the context of South Sulawesi, this service contributes to the strengthening of the MSME sector in the region, supports local economic growth, and positively impacts the financial sustainability of MSMEs. Through assistance in preparing financial statements, it is hoped that MSMEs in South Sulawesi can develop sustainably and contribute optimally to regional economic development

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence students' decisions in choosing a campus, focusing on academic variables, facilities & resources, finance, social and cultural, location, marketing strategy, and student experience. Using the Theory of Planning Behavior (TPB) approach, this study explores how attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control of prospective students influence their decision making. Data were collected through a survey of 385 students at one of Campus X in Makassar City using the stratified random sampling method. The data analysis technique used PLS-SEM. The results showed that location and student experience had a significant influence on students' intention to choose a campus, while academic variables, facilities & resources, finance, social and cultural, and marketing strategy did not have a significant influence. Location factors, including ease of access, security, and a supportive environment, proved to be one of the main drivers. In addition, student experience in the form of testimonials and levels of satisfaction contributed strongly to campus selection decisions. The implications of this study highlight the importance of higher education institutions to focus on improving location strategies and strengthening positive student experiences as the main attraction. Marketing strategies also need to be adjusted to be more relevant to the needs of prospective students and can increase the credibility of the institution amidst competition in the education market.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of online customer reviews on customer trust and impulse buying, by utilizing the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) theoretical framework. Furthermore, it examines the impact of customer trust as a mediating variable between online customer reviews and impulse buying. Data was obtained through the use of an online questionnaire which was filled out satisfactorily by a total of 150 participants. Participants in this research were individuals who had engaged in impulsive online purchasing behavior and demonstrated consumer trust. The method used in this research involves utilizing Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings show that online customer reviews significantly influence consumer trust and impulse buying, while consumer trust significantly influences impulse buying. Moreover, consumer trust partially mediated the relationship between online customer reviews and impulse buying. This research encourages online customer reviews for social commerce in Indonesia. When customer trust increases, consumers will make impulse purchases based on recommendations. Individuals who show a tendency to engage in impulsive online purchasing behavior are supported by the trust that the individual has. This research provides theoretical and practical implications that can provide valuable insight for further online consumer purchase research.

Abstract

Indonesia's live-stream-selling business is experiencing growth as more social media vendors are embracing live-streaming platforms. Online live selling has rendered purchasers vulnerable to compulsive purchasing and the dopamine trap, as it generates a feeling of exhilaration and social coercion. This research investigates the moderating effects of fear of missing out (FOMO) and perceived satisfaction on the relationship between the perceived usefulness of live streaming and online compulsive buying activity. The respondents in this study were 154 people who had watched live streaming of social commerce and carried out online compulsive buying activities. This study uses convenience sampling as a technique to determine the sample. Each question item is assessed using seven scales. This study uses structural equation modeling partial least squares to analyze the data. This research shows that the influence of the perceived usefulness of live streaming can increase online compulsive buying activity. Apart from that, the critical role of FOMO and perceived enjoyment can moderate the influence of the perceived usefulness of live streaming on online compulsive buying activity. This study makes a valuable contribution to the field of dual process theory. This study also offers practical implications for managers, highlighting the undeniable impact of the fear of missing out on individuals who find satisfaction in live streaming. This fear intensifies their anxiety and desire to stay connected with others' activities, especially if they believe that participating in live streaming is crucial for maintaining relationships or staying informed.
