Abstract

Phonology is a powerful method for deciphering the intricate connection between language and sound structure. Through its investigation, scientists gain bits of knowledge into how sounds are delivered, saw, and coordinated inside dialects, eventually adding to a more profound comprehension of the major idea of human correspondence. In phonology, we experience representative sounds that are mental reflections. They act as portrayals or images that represent the genuine sounds we hear in language. Although they are not exact physical replicas of those sounds, these symbolic sounds are mental constructs that assist us in studying and analyzing how language sounds work. In this study, research methods were utilized. As indicated by Kirk and Mill operator subjective comprehension was at first in light of subjective perceptions as opposed to quantitative perceptions. Phonology is worried about this sort of semantic information. Phonology studies how speech sounds form systems and patterns in human language. Phonetics provides the means for describing a language's phonology, which is the system and pattern of speech sounds.

Abstract

This research discusses code-switching and code-mixing in the podcast Rahasia Gadis with Naura Ayu, especially in the episode Proses jadi dewasa. Using a descriptive qualitative method and sociolinguistic approach, this study found that the most dominant form of code switching is intra sentential switching, followed by code mixing in words, phrases, and clauses. These bilingual elements clarify meaning, show social identity, and create a relaxed and personalized atmosphere between the speaker and the listener. The findings reveal that code-switching and code-mixing reflect bilingual ability and become communication tools that enrich conversations, making them more interactive and relevant in digital media.

Abstract

This study explores the psycholinguistic factors that contribute to students’ speaking difficulties in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. As speaking is a productive skill that requires rapid mental processing, many learners struggle to produce fluent and accurate speech due to cognitive, affective, and linguistic constraints. This research aims to identify how elements such as working memory limitations, lexical retrieval challenges, anxiety, low self-confidence, and insufficient language exposure influence students’ oral performance. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and speaking-task analyses involving EFL learners at the tertiary level. The findings reveal that students frequently face difficulties retrieving vocabulary, organizing ideas quickly, and maintaining fluency under time pressure. Psychological barriers such as fear of making mistakes, negative self-perception, and social anxiety also significantly hinder their willingness to speak. Moreover, limited practice opportunities and inadequate classroom interaction further reduce students’ communicative competence. This study underscores the need for pedagogical strategies that address both cognitive and emotional aspects of language learning. Enhancing supportive environments, providing structured speaking tasks, and integrating psycholinguistically informed techniques can help learners improve fluency, accuracy, and overall speaking performance in EFL classrooms.
