Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension stands as a primary peril for cardiovascular ailments, potentially culminating in fatalities by inducing complications like heart disease, stroke, and kidney issues. This study scrutinizes the prevalence and risk factors associated with hypertension at Puskesmas Kedungrejo Muncar, Banyuwangi, spotlighting age and body mass index (BMI) as pivotal predictors. Employing a descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional design, data was gathered through purposive sampling from 64 individuals. Findings unveil a significant correlation between advancing age and hypertension, aligning with previous research attributing this link to deteriorating cardiovascular function and arterial stiffness. Meanwhile, gender and educational attainment emerged as non-significant predictors, contrasting with the notable influence of BMI, with hypertensive individuals often exhibiting a normal BMI. These results accentuate the necessity of comprehending modifiable risk factors like BMI and emphasize the requisite for targeted interventions to combat hypertension in the community. Prevention and management endeavors ought to prioritize age-related considerations and initiatives aimed at fostering healthy BMI levels.

Abstract

Reproductive health knowledge is a critical aspect of adolescents' overall well-being, and its effective promotion plays a pivotal role in ensuring their long-term health and decision-making. In recent years, the utilization of video-based health education has gained popularity as a means of delivering information to this demographic. However, it was imperative to investigate the extent to which this innovative approach truly influences adolescents' knowledge. This study employed a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design and involved a total of 34 respondents who were selected through a comprehensive total sampling technique. The primary objective was to evaluate the impact of video-based health education on adolescents' knowledge of reproductive health. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney Test and the Wilcoxon Test, revealing a statistically significant improvement in reproductive health knowledge among the participants, as indicated by a p-value of 0.000, which was less than the significance level of 0.05. These findings emphasized the effectiveness of video-based health education as a powerful tool in enhancing adolescents' comprehension of reproductive health matters. It underscores the importance of integrating video-based education into comprehensive health promotion strategies targeted at adolescents, as it has the potential to significantly contribute to their overall health awareness and decision-making capabilities.

Abstract

Proses penelaahan dilakukan berdasarkan pedoman PRISMA 2020. Kata kunci yang digunakan yaitu ‘pijat oksitosin’ OR ‘oxytocin massage’ AND ‘produksi ASI’ OR ‘breast milk production’ OR ‘lactation’ AND ‘post partum’ OR ‘ibu nifas’ OR ‘postnatal’.

Abstract

Sexually transmitted infections remain global health issues which cause millions morbidity and mortality. Women of reproductive age represent one of the vulnerable groups, as limited knowledge can affect sexual behavior and elevate the risk of transmission.  This study seeks to examine the determinants influencing the knowledge of women of reproductive age regarding sexually transmitted infections. The research employed a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 115 respondent. The sample consisted of 54 participants. Purposive sampling was used as the sampling technique, and a questionnaire served as the research instrument. Data were analyzed using the Spearman rank test. The findings indicated that age and education did not show a significant association with the level of knowledge (p > 0.000), whereas access to information demonstrated a significant relationship with knowledge about sexually transmitted infections in the working area of Kedungrejo Public Health Center. The knowledge level of women of reproductive age was largely influenced by the availability and accessibility of relevant and up-to-date information. These findings indicate that older age or higher education does not necessarily correspond with increased knowledge about this disease if not supported by adequate information access. Conversely, individuals with good access to information tend to have higher knowledge levels, regardless of their age or education.
