Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the sodium hydroxide (NaOH) neutralization process in semi virgin red palm oil on free fatty acid levels, dirt levels and water content. Efforts to obtain the best quality red palm oil can be done by administering sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The method used in this research was a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using the chemical Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) with concentrations of 3%, 4% and 5% of the sample weight. Each chemical and its concentration was repeated in 3 repetition units. The types of observations carried out are ALB levels, dirt levels, water content. The data obtained were analyzed using the Anova Test and Duncan's Test. The research results show that sodium hydroxide (NaOH) can reduce ALB levels by up to 0.13%. In the Dirt Content parameter, the chemical sodium hydroxide (NaOH) can reduce the dirt content by 0.0024% and in the Water Content parameter, the use of the chemical sodium hydroxide (NaOH) can reduce the water content by up to 0.0027%. With the conclusion that the use of the chemical resist sodium hydroxide as an efficient catalyst in the SVCPO neutralization process.

Abstract

Cascara is made from coffee skins and is starting to be known as a health drink. There are four varieties of coffee cultivated in Karo and the skins are used as Cascara. The aim of this research was to determine the phenol levels associated with the properties of Cascara originating from varieties cultivated in Karo. The method to obtain the phenol content in Cascara uses maceration using 85% methanol on dry Cascara. The research results show that Cascara which comes from Andungsari coffee skins has the highest phenol content, namely 8.0952 mg GAE/g and the lowest in Cascara Siagarrutang at 5.1515 mg GAE/g.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan variasi lama fermentasi pada formulasi bahan pakan berbasis bungkil inti sawit terhadap mutu pakan dan kenaikan bobot ayam buras. Jenis penelitian merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap non factorial.Variasi lama fermentasi terdiri dari : Fermentasi 3 hari, fermentasi 6 hari dan fermentasi 9 hari. Parameter yang diamati terdiri dari Kadar Air, Kadar Abu, Kadar Protein Kasar, Kadar Serat Kasar, Kadar Lemak Kasar dan Kenaikan bobot ayam setelah diberi pakan selama 21 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi lama fermentasi mempengaruhi nyata (p 0.05) terhadap kadar air, kadar abu dan kadar protein kasar. Variasi lama fermentasi memberi pengaruh tidak nyata (p 0.05) terhadap kadar serat kasar, kadar lemak kasar dan kenaikan bobot ayam. Kenaikan bobot ayam tertinggi terdapat pada ayam yang diberi pakan hasil fermentasi selama 6 hari.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah : 1). Mengetahui perbandingan campuran tandan kosong kelapa sawit (TKS): Limbah Cair PKS (LCPKS) dan EM4 yang tepat dan dapat mempercepat dekomposisi TKS dalam pembuatan kompos, 2). Mengetahui kandungan N,P,K, dan C/N yang dihasilkan dari selama fermentasi pada pembuatan kompos. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan RAL non factorial dengan factor tunggal campuran TKS: LCPKS dan EM4.Setiap kombinasi perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Data diolah dengan menggunakan statistik dengan uji Analysis of variance (ANOVA) dengan uji lanjut DMRT pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kadar Nitrogen (N), Fosfor (P), Kalium (K), rasio C/N dan kadar air berpengaruh tidak nyata dan belum sesuai dengan SNI Perlakuan yang terbaik terdapat pada C3.

Abstract

This Community Service Program aims to implement an aquaponics system with DFT hydroponics in water spinach cultivation in Dolok Sagala Village, Dolok Masihul Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency. The aquaponics system combines fish farming with plant cultivation, where fish wastewater is used as a plant nutrient source. In contrast, the DFT hydroponics system allows efficient nutrient circulation. The application of this technology aims to increase agricultural productivity in limited land areas, provide sustainable farming solutions, and enhance local food security. The results of this activity show that the aquaponics and DFT hydroponic systems can significantly improve the growth of water spinach with minimal use of land and resources. Community participation in this activity also increased, reinforcing awareness of the importance of modern agricultural technology.

Abstract

Acceleration of processing for fresh fruit bunches (FFB) is crucial to increase profitability and business opportunities for oil palm farmers. This research aims to evaluate the effect of using gamal (Gliricidia sepium) leaves and the duration of ripening on the percentage of FFB processing as well as the quality of crude palm oil. This study employed a factorial completely randomized design (CRD). The data were analyzed using ANOVA with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at a significance level of 5%. The results of the analysis showed that the best treatment was S3T2 (40% gamal leaves, 20 h of ripening) with a natural processing percentage of 45.87% of the FFB weight and 60.34% of the total bunch weight. The use of gamal leaves and the duration of ripening significantly affected the quality parameters of the oil, especially the free fatty acid content. Treatment S1T1 (20% gamal leaves, 10 h of ripening) showed the best results with a free fatty acid value of 1.30%, meeting the quality standard (<5%). However, the moisture content still exceeded the quality standard (<0.5%), although treatment S3T2 yielded the best result at 0.63%. While, the impurity content quality met the quality standard (<0.5%), with the best value achieved by treatment S1T1 at 0.15%. Keywords: Bunch detachment, CPO quality, Ethylene, Gliricidia sepium, Ripening.
