Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of economic growth on the poverty rate by meta-analysis using Stata 15.0 software. The number of observations used was 41 research articles in Indonesia which examined the relationship between economic growth and poverty levels. In general, the results of his research show a negative effect with a parameter coefficient value of -0.170 percent . This is influenced by the type of data and the number of observations that have a significant effect. In variable data types, if the data used is panel data it produces a stronger negative relationship than using time series or cross section data types . In the number of observations variable, the more the number of observations (N) used tends to produce a positive coefficient value, research that produces a negative coefficient value occurs in certain cases regarding the relationship of economic growth to the poverty level. Of the 41 research articles analyzed through the meta funnel plot of the standard error coefficient , it is known that there is publication bias, as seen from the study with a small sample size that is not symmetrically distributed.

Abstract

The research was conducted to find the perceptions of English teachers and students toward the use of authentic reading materials in schools. The study was conducted at three junior high schools in Pamekasan. A research survey was employed with seven steps: (1) Questionnaire Development and Validation; (2) Try-Out; (3) Questionnaire Distribution; (4) Data Analysis; (5) Interview; (6) Result; and (7) Conclusion. In collecting the data, two kinds of instruments, consisting of a close-ended questionnaire, were distributed via Google form to six English teachers and 73 students in grade nine, and an interview with the English teachers was conducted. Using SPSS for data analysis, the results showed that 83.3% of teachers strongly agreed that authentic materials are up-to-date and relevant to everyday life, with an average score of 3.8 on a 4-point Likert scale. For students, 75.3% agreed that authentic materials increased their interest in reading English texts, with an average score of 3.1.  The research findings revealed that authentic reading materials in the ninth grade had various advantages; the material taught is easy to understand, up-to-date, relevant to everyday life, increases the students’ motivation, and mastering vocabulary. Meanwhile, there were various disadvantages; students still feel sluggish when they must read the assigned text; they require more time to grasp the text; it is difficult to locate appropriate authentic material for students; and students hope that teacher will leave the class soon. In conclusion, while authentic reading materials present certain challenges, their benefits in enhancing student engagement and motivation outweigh the drawbacks. Teachers can address these challenges by implementing a variety of solutions to improve the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to measure the impact of fun activities in English language learning on improving the speaking skills of children at Muhammadiyah Orphanage in Sumenep. The implemented activities included role-plays, language games, storytelling, and singing English songs. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with a naturalistic approach, supported by speaking assessments and learning experience questionnaires as primary instruments. The results showed a significant improvement across four speaking skill aspects: fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary use, and message delivery. The average speaking score increased from 3.05 to 4.33, indicating the effectiveness of the approach in a non-formal educational setting. In addition, the questionnaire results revealed that children felt more confident, motivated, and enjoyed the English learning process. These findings support the Communicative Language Teaching approach and Krashen’s Affective Filter Hypothesis, both of which emphasize the importance of meaningful, low-pressure learning environments. Overall, this study recommends implementing fun-based learning methods as an effective strategy to enhance children’s speaking abilities, particularly in educationally limited settings such as orphanages.ABSTRAKKegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur dampak kegiatan menyenangkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berbicara anak-anak di Panti Asuhan Muhammadiyah Sumenep. Abstract

In today’s era of advanced globalization, competition in the business landscape is becoming increasingly intense, particularly within the fashion industry, including the batik sector. As a symbol of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, batik has evolved significantly, gaining popularity not only in domestic markets but also on an international scale. Once regarded solely as traditional attire, batik is now embraced as part of contemporary fashion that appeals to a wide range of consumers. Batik Malabis, a local batik business based in Bangkalan, Madura, is one of the enterprises that has actively adapted to these changing trends. By integrating traditional Madurese patterns with modern design elements, Batik Malabis seeks to engage a broader customer base—especially younger generations who are beginning to view batik not only as a cultural expression but also as a stylish and fashionable choice. This research adopts a qualitative method using a case study approach to explore the marketing strategies employed by Batik Malabis in boosting the sales of its modern batik products. This approach enables a thorough investigation into various aspects of marketing, including promotional tactics, pricing strategies, and the use of digital platforms tailored to the preferences and behaviors of the target market. Data were gathered through literature review from diverse sources such as scholarly journals, academic books, and industry publications related to marketing in the fashion and batik sectors. This provides a well-rounded understanding of the effectiveness of the marketing efforts implemented by the business. The purpose of this study is to examine how Batik Malabis applies marketing strategies to enhance product sales. Furthermore, the research aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of these strategies, offering practical and relevant recommendations to support Batik Malabis in remaining competitive in a dynamic and increasingly challenging marketplace.
