Abstract

Indonesia, as a country with diverse ethnicities and cultures, requires effective communication tools to maintain unity and nationalism among its citizens. Bahasa Indonesia plays an important role as a national identity and official communication tool, which is taught to children from an early age. Learning Bahasa Indonesia in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) not only aims to develop language skills, but also contributes to the formation of children's character. Through a qualitative approach and literature study, this study reveals that learning Bahasa Indonesia can shape children's character through four aspects of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Ki Hajar Dewantara emphasized the importance of character education that is integrated with language learning, so that children can understand the norms and values that apply in society. The results of the study show that good language proficiency reflects a complete character, while poor language use can have a negative impact on the development of children's character. Therefore, the role of parents and educators is very important in instilling positive values through language, as well as creating an environment that supports the development of children's character. This study is expected to increase awareness of the importance of teaching Bahasa Indonesia as part of the formation of children's character from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the level of social-emotional development in 6-year-old children using an assessment instrument in the form of a rating scale. Social-emotional development is a crucial aspect of early childhood that includes emotional regulation, the ability to form healthy social relationships, and prosocial behavior. This research employed an interview method with a participatory observation approach involving six children from a kindergarten in Medan. Data were collected using a rating scale instrument based on social-emotional development indicators. The results showed that most children were in the Developing as Expected (BSH) category, especially in cognitive, language, and social-emotional aspects. However, some children were still in the Starting to Develop (MB) category in terms of independence. This study highlights the importance of holistic assessments to fully understand children's developmental needs.

Abstract

Aphasia is a language disorder that can impair an individual's ability to speak, understand, read, and write. In children, aphasia poses a significant developmental challenge, particularly in educational settings. This disorder affects the child's ability to communicate effectively with teachers and peers, directly impacting both learning outcomes and social interactions. This article explores the impact of aphasia on children's communication abilities within educational environments and emphasizes the importance of adaptive communication strategies and inclusive teaching approaches. Using a qualitative approach and literature review, this study examines the roles of teachers, families, and professionals in supporting children with aphasia. Findings highlight that early intervention, emotional support, and the use of alternative communication methods can significantly improve participation and learning outcomes for children with aphasia. Collaboration between schools and speech-language therapists is essential to create an educational environment that is both supportive and responsive to the needs of children with language impairments.
