Abstract

Membaca adalah salah satu bagian penting dari proses mendapatkan informasi dalam pembelajaran. Kemampuan membaca mahasiswa dapat ditingkatkan dan dikembangkan dengan penerapan ekstensive reading. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kemampuan membaca mahasiswa dengan penerapan ekstensive reading. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada mahasiswa semester V Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris STKIP Taman Siswa Bima. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada kelas mata kuliah Reading. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling teknik yang berjumlah 10 orang laki-laki dan 18 orang perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penggembangan kemampuan membaca mahasiswa pada mata kuliah reading khususnya pada level bahan bacaan atau graded reader, kecepatan membaca atau reading speed, dan level pemahaman bahan bacaan atau understanding texts level. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perkembangan kemampuan membaca pada semua mahasiswa terutama dalam aspek reading speed, peningkatan level bahan bacaan dan pemahaman dalam membaca meskipun tidak secara signifikan.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Pre-questioning on Reading Comprehension Achievement of the Fourth Semester Students at English Program Study STKIP Taman Siswa Bima. The aimed of this study were to investigate the effects of pre-questioning students’ on the reading comprehension achievement of the Fourth Semester Students at English Program Study STKIP Taman Siswa Bima 2017/2018. The forms of questions were in multiple choice and essay, multiple choice used for reading comprehension tests and essay used for Pre-questioning tests. The method used in this study was experimental design. The data were processed and analyzed according to these steps: taking the data, checking, scoring, tabulating using SPSS program and taking the conclusion based on the statistic result. The result of this study shows that “the Pre-questioning has a significant effect on the students’ reading comprehension achievement.

Abstract

The thesis is written aimed to know how are the students’ motivations in learning English (a case study inside classroom) of the eleventh grade students of SMKS Taman Madya Baiturrahman Bima in academic year 2017/2018. This research was descriptive research. The subjects of this research were the students of Computer Program (TKJ) of eleventh grade in SMKS Taman Madya Baiturrahman Bima. To collect the data, the researchers used questionnaire that has been made based on criteria and condition of students. The researchers also used video recording to support the questionnaire data. The result of the data analysis, there are two important kinds of motivation in this research, based on 4 criteria and condition of questionnaire were internal and external motivation. In internal motivation, the researchers was taken 61,9% the high percentage of students have good attention in positive statements and more than 38,0% students attention in negative statements. In external motivation, the percentage of positive statements was 61,9% students and more than 28,5% students in negative statements. That’s mean the students’ motivation in Learning English (a case study inside classroom) of the eleventh grade students of SMKS Taman Madya Baiturrahman Bima in academic year 2017/2018 stay in a middle were the researchers took the high percentage of internal and external motivation in positive statements was 61,9% students.

Abstract

The purposes of this research is to analysis the students learning styles in English classroom of the fourth semester students in Education English Program Study STKIP Taman Siswa Bima in Academic years 2018/2019. This research was descriptive. The subject of this research was the fourth semester students in Pronunciation class. To collect the data the researcher used questionnaire, observation sheet, and interview questions. The result of this research was found there are 8 types of learning style used by the students in learning English. The dominant learning style used by the students were global learning style, reflective, active, Intuitive, Verbal, Sensing, Visual, and sequential learning style.
