Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production efficiency and income of lowland rice (Oryza sativa L.) farming in Bandar Baru District, Pidie Jaya Regency. The study was conducted in June–July 2023 with 80 respondents. Data were obtained through interviews and questionnaires, and analyzed using stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) and dual cost functions. The results indicate that lowland rice farming has achieved technical efficiency, but is not yet allocatively or economically efficient. As a result, farmer income is not optimal, although it still has the potential to be increased through improved production input management.

Abstract

The population of Indonesia is exhibiting a constant annual growth. The latest Indonesian statistical data, from 2023, indicates that the population of Indonesia has exceeded 267 million. As a consequence of the considerable population growth, there is an increasing demand for food. One of the most significant sources of protein is animal protein, which can be derived from cattle, sheep, goats, fish, and other sources. The Elang Bodas Program represents a social innovation initiative spearheaded by CSR Community Empowerment of PT PLN Indonesia Power PLTP Gunung Salak UBP Kamojang Year 2024. The program's core objective is to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the livestock sector in Pulosari Village. The innovation of this programme is evident at the system level. The methodology employed to address the challenges encountered comprises the following activities: (1) theoretical training (classroom-based) on the production of feed using mineral block technology, (2) direct practical experience conducted by partners under the guidance of the team, and (3) mineral block case study. The efficacy of the programme is evidenced by a notable increase in livestock weight, with an average gain of 6 kilograms observed in the experimental group compared to the control group, which did not receive similar treatment. The economic effectiveness of the programme demonstrates an additional profit of Rp. 1,700,000 per head per year. The results demonstrate that the assets have been employed in an optimal manner throughout the implementation of the Elang Bodas programme. The time effectiveness of the programme can be observed in the alterations to the timeframes involved in the provision of animal feed. The environmental impact of the programme is evidenced by the utilisation of kawung aci waste as a raw material for the production of alternative mineral block feed, which has economic value. The programme has been observed to have a significant impact on the acquisition of knowledge and skills amongst the members of the Bina Mandiri Farmer Group, with an increase of 100% in the knowledge and abilities of 38 individuals. The impact of the programme on behavioural change demonstrated that 52% of participants exhibited a willingness to adopt the technology.

Abstract

Consumption of cooking oil from year to year continues to increase, especially in Aceh Province. In general, almost all people in this area consume cooking oil derived from oil palm plants for household needs. As one of the basic needs, the increase in the price of cooking oil has affected changes in household consumption patterns. This study aims to analyze the impact of rising cooking oil prices on changes in people's food consumption patterns in various household income groups in a quantitative descriptive manner. The results of the analysis show that the increase in the price of cooking oil has an impact on changes in food consumption patterns, namely a decrease in consumption of several food needs other than cooking oil. This decline occurred in various household income groups in Aceh Province.

Abstract

Agriculture Faculty of UNIMAL is one of the leading faculties in the field of agriculture and fisheries development in Sumatra. The idea of introducing ornamental plant business prospects was based on the COVID-19 pandemic, which dealt a tremendous blow to the economy of the community around the UNIMAL Faculty of Agriculture. The majority of the people around the institution have house rentals for UNIMAL students. The COVID-19 pandemic condition in Aceh forced UNIMAL to change the offline education system to an online system according to the direction of the Ministry of Education and Culture. This is done to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In the online system, students carry out the learning process from their home region so they are not in the environment around UNIMAL. This has a direct impact on the people of East Reulet as a provider of rental houses. The solution that the team recommends is to turn into small and medium entrepreneurs who can generate additional income. The group of mothers can take advantage of their hobby, namely planting and collecting ornamental plants into an ornamental plant business that has great opportunities to be developed. The next solution is that housewives around Reulet Timur can use agricultural waste around them to be processed into bokashi plus fertilizer. Agricultural waste can damage the nutrient balance of the soil and invite pests and diseases in the surrounding area. The location of this activity is in Reuleut Timur Village, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Luaran Regency which is produced in the form of OJS-based service journals, online publications in mass media, and ornamental plant products and bokashi plus fertilizer which are ready to be marketed. The outputs of this service are articles in the IRPITAGE service journal Vol 1 (2) December 2021, news on activities on the fp.unimal.ac.id website, SPK (Cooperation Agreement) with partners and ornamental plant and fertilizer products.

Abstract

This plant is easy to cultivate so farmers can cultivate it and make it animal feed. This of course will make it easier for breeders because livestock do not have to be released and get enough feed. Planting sancha ichi plants can be a solution to the problems faced by people in this region because these plants can survive in any soil conditions. Besides being able to be used as a raw material for animal feed, this plant can also solve the problem of the impact of global warming in this area which is produced by brick factories around residents' residential areas. This community service activity is expected to solve the various problems above. The community service location was taken around the UNIMAL Faculty of Agriculture, namely Gampong Reulet Timur, North Aceh Regency. The implementation method used in this service activity is in the form of counseling and mentoring with a participatory approach and referring to the adult-learning process which consists of: (1) Presentation of material supplemented by Power Point presentations and simulation materials, (2) discussions with service participants, (3 ) assistance for the practice of cultivating/planting pythons and making animal feed. The output targets to be achieved from this activity are: (1) Scientific publication in cross-reference/national-based international service journals (2) Publication of activities in print or online media, (3) product of python inch.

Abstract

Fertilizer scarcity is still a major problem in agriculture in Indonesia. Furthermore, to overcome the scarcity of fertilizers, the use of chemical fertilizers is expected to be replaced by using organic fertilizers such as Bio Slurry. This innovative product could solve the problem of fertilizer scarcity that occurs among farmers in Indonesia. The utilization of sheep manure to produce innovation product “Bioslurry Plus Trichoderma (BIOS +)” is a program of CSR from PT PLN Indonesia Power PLTP Gunung Salak Kamojang POMU in the form of community development activities. The location of community service was taken at the Bina Mandiri group in Pulosari Village, Kalapanunggal District, Sukabumi Regency. The implementation methodology is designed for mentoring with a participatory approach which consists of: (1) Providing information related to the benefits of innovative products BIOS +, (2) Providing information how to make and apply BIOS +, (3) Practice of applying BIOS + on their cultivated land, and (4) Observation the impact of using BIOS + on soil conditions, cost efficiency, changes in knowledge and changes in behavior of Bina Mandiri group. According to the BIOS+Innovation production implemented by CSR PT PLN Indonesia Power PLTP Gunung Salak Kamojang POMU, the following conclusions are: 1) Bina Mandiri has been successfully maximized their asset in this program, 2) the BIOS + empowerment program resulted in a reduction of chemical fertilizer use on their cultivated land by 185 kg, 3) The improvement of soil and environmental conditions after using BIOS+ from the total land owned by 15 members is 4.14 hectares of horticultural crops, 4) the efficiency of reducing the cost of chemical fertilizers per 3 months is IDR 3,700,000, 5) the Increase in of Bina Mandiri Group's technical knowledge in producing BIOS+ after program implementation is 100%. This exceeded the program's target, and 6) the increase in behavior to apply the innovation product BIOS+ in Bina Mandiri Group is 60%. This exceeded the program's target.
