Abstract

Based on international research, Indonesia is a country whose population is relatively low in terms of literacy. The latest test results conducted by PISA in 2022 also showed that the score obtained decreased by 12 points. Some experts say that the condition of library facilities and infrastructure is an external factor in low student interest in reading. The purpose of this study is to present the results of an analysis of the condition of library facilities and infrastructure as a facility for the literacy movement in elementary schools. The research method used was a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted using observation and interview techniques with 3 librarians, 3 principals, 18 teachers and 90 students from 3 elementary schools in one of the cities in West Java. The analysis of the condition of library facilities and infrastructure carried out refers to the National Standards for SD / MI Libraries precisely according to the Regulation of the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia No. 10 of 2017. The results showed that SDN A has many aspects that have met the national standards, SDN B has quite a lot of aspects that have met the national standards, there are only a few shortcomings in both SDNs, and SDN C requires a lot of development in order to meet national standards. With library facilities and infrastructure that meet national standards, it is hoped that they can support the literacy movement.

Abstract

Program Penguatan Kapasitas Kemahasiswaan team (PPK Ormawa) of Himpunan Mahasiswa Kimia (HIMASKA) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science, Pakuan University has implemented a water resource conservation program to overcome floods and droughts that occur every year in Kalong Liud Village, Nanggung District, Bogor Regency, West Java Province. Water resource conservation with green ampel bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris Schrad. ex. J.C) uses a combination of vegetative and agronomic methods with the aim of maximizing erosion control and surface flow of the Cikaniki River. This program began with a survey of village locations, socialization and education to maximize the sustainability of the implementation of the program by holding pre-tests and post-tests for community groups and residents around the Cikaniki River. After that, green ampel bamboo was planted on the cleared and dug land 50 cm deep with a hole diameter of 15 cm. The growth of green ampel bamboo is monitored and evaluated once a week to find out how to optimize its growth. As a result, young leaves grow from bamboo books after 3 (three) weeks of planting and maintenance. In addition, the provision of education and scientific approaches can increase public understanding and awareness of climate change that can cause flood disasters.

Abstract

Background: Venomous snakebite is a high-priority neglected tropical disease, particularly affecting rural communities. Venomous snakebites cause approximately 500,000 permanent disabilities annually worldwide. Venomous animal bites primarily affect agricultural workers in rural areas due to the high risk of being bitten by a venomous animal. Several cases of venomous snakebite victims have been reported, most often identified as cobras. Farmers lack access to optimal information on first aid for venomous animal bites. This poses a threat to the health and occupational safety of rural farmers if bitten by a venomous animal. Purpose: To develop an e-booklet on Venomous Animal Bites for farmers to improve the health and occupational safety of rural farmers. Method: The research and development (RnD) design consisted of four steps: a descriptive exploratory survey to disseminate farmers' knowledge and attitudes regarding first aid for venomous animal bites; development of health education media through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs); expert consultation; and feasibility testing of the e-booklet. The population in this study was residents of Marmoyo Village, Kabuh District, Jombang Regency. The inclusion criteria for the sample were farmers and the ability to operate a smartphone. Results: Most respondents (290) (74.9%) occasionally saw snakes, 372 (96.1%) had never encountered a snake, and 287 (74.2%) did not know first aid. Most respondents (234) (60.6%) had moderate knowledge, and 343 (88.9%) had negative attitudes. The analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.248) and attitude (p = 0.001) regarding snakebite management. The better the knowledge and attitude, the more appropriate the actions taken in snakebite management. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitude regarding snakebite management. Empowering farmers with skills in providing first aid for animal bites through digital education, including e-booklets, integrating snakebite management into public health initiatives, and involving the local community. Suggestion: Health students should be actively involved in designing and implementing health education on snakebite prevention for patients, families, and the community.   Keywords: E-book; Farmers; Occupational Health and Safety; Rural Areas; Venomous Animal Bite Response.
