Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the political and civil literacy of novice voters in preparation for the 2024 Simultaneous Elections in Indonesia. The targets of this community service activity are school students or youth who are at least 17 years old in the year the 2024 Simultaneous Election will be held. Youth were chosen as the main target because they are a group with a large proportion in the 2024 election contestation which will determine the future of democracy. As new voters, they need preparation and a deep understanding of how to participate in the political process effectively to determine the direction and policies of government. For this reason, the Public Administration Department of Universitas Airlangga will partner with the East Java Provincial Education Office which will later provide guidance to the SMAN 1 Giri, Banyuwangi Regency to hold a community service program at the school. Community service activities will involve understanding the political system, democratic processes, political issues, and the importance of active political participation. Activities will be carried out through three main stages: preparation, implementation and evaluation. The preparatory stage involves collecting and compiling relevant political and civic literacy materials. Next, the implementation stage will involve counseling, workshops and group discussions to provide in-depth understanding to novice voters. The evaluation stage will be carried out to measure the effectiveness of the program and obtain feedback from participants. It is hoped that this activity will provide a fundamental contribution in increasing the political and civil literacy of novice voters. With a better understanding of the political system, first-time voters will be able to make good political decisions, participate actively in the political process, and critically evaluate the information they receive.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to clarify the adverse effects stemming from the absence of Good Environmental Governance (GEG) practices. This investigation employed a methodical approach to review the literature, focusing on nine research articles selected using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework. GEG, as a transformative mechanism, holds significant potential for mitigating the effects of global warming. However, in various regions worldwide, numerous individuals continue to struggle with the effective implementation of GEG. Forests represent the areas most adversely affected by the absence of GEG implementation. Numerous environmental challenges persist, including issues related to air quality, water standards, urban waste management, transportation systems, land use, deforestation, and shifts in climate patterns. The absence of GEG implementation manifests in adverse trends such as diminished rule of law, weakened institutional capacity, insufficient community engagement, and a lack of transparency and accountability. This study aspires to serve as a reference for governments in the pressing need to implement GEG, aiming to construct a more sustainable environmental framework that mitigates the effects of global warming. Keywords: Good Environmental Governance, Implementation, PRISMA, Systematic Literature Study.

Abstract

Gambling has been around for a long time and continues to evolve as it becomes integrated with video games. In its development, gambling continues to have negative impacts both economically and socially, such as unemployment, tax losses, divorce, and suicide. However, gambling can also have a positive impact, such as an increase in government revenue if taxed appropriately. This study aims to offer a thorough analysis of many publications from the last decade and monitor the progress of scientific research on gambling taxes as found in the Scopus database, utilizing VOSviewer and WordStat. In this study, the method used was bibliometric analysis. Between 2014 and 2023, a total of 132 scientific articles were dedicated to studying gambling taxes. There are a total of seven groups consisting of 111 keywords that are directly connected to gambling taxes. There are three groups of eight authors who are collaborating on a research project about gambling taxes. The study found that the University of Macau has affiliations with the majority of publications that impose gambling taxes. The United States has the biggest number of publications on the topic of gambling taxes. Studies on gambling taxes frequently confront issues of tax evasion and focus on a significant topic, namely the impact on public health and individuals. The study concluded that publications related to gambling taxes are dominated by articles from various multidisciplinary fields. This study recommends a wider range of publications and research from a more varied range of time and sources.

Abstract

This study maps corruption trends in Indonesia during President Joko Widodo’s administration (2014–2024) using a systematic mixed studies review (SMSR) with a Parallel-results Convergent Synthesis Design. By integrating a systematic literature review (SLR) and focus group discussions (FGDs), this research uncovers the entrenched structural, political, and bureaucratic mechanisms that sustain corrupt practices. Corruption in Indonesia is not merely a legal violation but a systemic issue deeply embedded in governance structures, oligarchic influence, and patronage politics. Key drivers include weak democratic institutions, ineffective law enforcement, high political costs, and transactional politics in public office appointments. The study highlights how corruption persisted under Jokowi’s administration through the 2019 revision of the KPK Law, regulatory capture by political elites, and law enforcement intervention in procurement processes. Additionally, media and civil society organizations, which should serve as independent watchdogs, have often been co-opted by political and economic interests, undermining their role in anti-corruption efforts. The findings emphasize that eradicating corruption requires comprehensive institutional reforms, integrity-driven leadership, and fundamental cultural shifts toward transparency and accountability. A multidimensional strategy engaging political institutions, civil society, and oversight agencies is essential to breaking entrenched corruption networks. This study contributes to the broader discourse on governance by offering a framework for future research and policy reforms aimed at strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms in Indonesia.
