Abstract

Partikulat yang dikeluarkan oleh asap rokok diketahui berkontribusi terhadap polusi udara dan berdampak negatif terhadap kesehatan manusia. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya untuk mengurangi konsentrasi asap rokok di udara. Dalam penelitian ini, kami mengembangkan filter partikulat yang terbuat dari serbuk kayu dengan tepung terigu sebagai perekat filternya. Variasi filter yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah filter yang dijemur langsung di bawah sinar matahari dan menggunakan pengering rambut. Filter ini ditandai dengan nilai efisiensinya dalam mengurangi emisi asap rokok. Efisiensi filter dalam mereduksi partikel ditentukan dengan membandingkan asap rokok sebelum dan sesudah penambahan filter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai efisiensi filter dalam mereduksi partikel asap rokok adalah sekitar 95,24%. Nilai efisiensi yang dihasilkan dari variasi perlakuan filter yang berbeda tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nilai yang signifikan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the history of diversity in Lombok, especially in East Cakranegara Village, then explore more deeply related to the relations that exist between Muslim and Hindu communities in the village. Cakranegara is one of the areas in West Lombok that has a diverse population. This is inseparable from the history of the Karangasem kingdom that once ruled Lombok. Religious pluralism reflected in the activities of the community in East Cakranegara Village shows that harmony is established not without reason but there is an underlying history, so it is necessary to conduct further research on how the dynamics of society are established in the midst of differences in beliefs between religious communities. It will certainly affect the knowledge of the community that is able to foster tolerance, tolerance, and empathy that makes people live in harmony amid differences.  This research uses historical research methods that include heuristics/source collection, source verification/critique, interpretation, and historiography. The results of the discussion of this paper explain that the interaction between Muslims and Hindus is well established, as evidenced by the activities they do together during the religious ceremonies of each religion.

Abstract

VOC merupakan sekelompok senyawa organik yang mudah menguap ke atmosfer dan mempunyai berbagai dampak terhadap kesehatan manusia dan lingkungan. VOC merupakan faktor penting dalam pembentukan ozon troposfer dan aerosol organik sekunder, yang menjadi komponen utama pembentukan polusi udara. VOC dapat terkandung di dalam udara sisa pernapasan manusia, dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda-beda dan sangat bergantung dengan kondisi metabolisme tubuh, kebiasaan, makanan yang dikonsumsi, dan lain sebagainya. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi konsentrasi TVOC dari udara hembusan nafas (exhaled breath) yang kemudian dijadikan sebagai profil udara yang dapat membedakan klasifikasi perokok atau non perokok. Penelitian ini menggunakan 50 sampel nafas yang dibagi ke dalam dua klasifikasi utama, yakni perokok dan non perokok. Udara bersih terfilter digunakan sebagai variabel kontrol. Sampel nafas diukur konsentrasi VOC menggunakan sebuah e-nose berbasis sensor CCS-811 yang sudah dikalibrasi dan diuji menggunakan komparator dan beberapa gas, seperti: gas karbon dioksida (CO2), hidrogen sulfida (H2S), etanol (C2H5OH), dan formaldehida (CH2O). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem e-nose berbasis sensor CCS-811 dapat membaca gas VOC dengan rata-rata pembacaan yang dihasilkan sebesar 0-1156 ppb dengan tingkat kesalahan relatif <50%. Keseluruhan hasil pengujian ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem cukup sensitif terhadap gas CH2O dan C2H5OH, namun tidak sensitif terhadap gas CO2 dan H2S. Berdasarkan pada hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sistem dapat secara sensitif dan selektif mendeteksi senyawa VOC pada jenis C2H5OH dan CH2O dengan nilai akurasi >50%. Hasil pembacaan sistem pada sampel nafas perokok dan non perokok dapat menghasilkan tiga zona konsentrasi TVOC yang selanjutnya menjadi profil has TVOC yang dihembuskan oleh kelompok sampel. Terdapat perbedaan yang cukup signifikan antara konsentrasi TVOC perokok dan non perokok. Sistem dapat membedakan antara perokok dan non perokok dengan akurasi pembacaan >90%.

Abstract

AbstrakUdara yang berkualitas adalah udara yang bersih dan terbebas dari polusi. Beberapa contoh dari emisi udara yakni coarse dan fine particle yang tergolong dalam sub kelas PM. Belum seluruh sektor mengetahui jenis emisi udara ini dan kaitannya dengan kualitas udara. Oleh sebab itu, diperlukan sebuah sosialisasi yang disertai dengan penerapan teknologi tepat guna. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini dilaksanakan sebagai salah satu bagian dari Tri Dharma yang berbasis hasil penelitian tim peneliti kualitas udara dan mitigasi kebencanaan bersama SMAN 2 Selong, Kabupaten Lombok Timur sebagai mitra. PkM dilakukan dalam bentuk demonstrasi penggunaan alat pengukur konsentrasi emisi udara jenis PM hasil kolaborasi penelitian dosen dan mahasiswa di Program Studi Fisika, FMIPA, Universitas Mataram dengan tujuan mengenalkan kepada siswa terkait pentingnya menjaga kualitas udara. Peserta kegiatan adalah siswa sebanyak 20 orang. Metode yang digunakan dalam PkM adalah penyuluhan sederhana yang terintegrasikan dalam demonstrasi alat/kit. Kegiatan ini memberikan banyak manfaat bagi siswa dalam memahami dan mempraktekkan teori secara langsung. Melalui demonstrasi atau aplikasi alat peraga ini, siswa dapat melihat secara langsung pengukuran fisis dengan teknologi dan alat bantu teknologi, yang disertai dengan penyuluhan atau pemberian informasi terkait kualitas udara dan bentuk mitigasinya. Keterbatasan piranti-piranti pengukuran kualitas udara dapat disiasati dengan pengaplikasian alat ukur kualitas udara sebagai alat peraga secara langsung. Kegiatan ini memberikan manfaat bagi siswa dalam meningkatkan pemahaman secara langsung terkait kualitas udara dan mitigasi kebencanaan udara. Kata kunci: demonstrasi; kualitas udara; mitigasi kebencanaan; particulate matter. AbstractGood air is air that is clean and free from pollution. Some examples of air emissions are coarse and fine particles classified in the PM subclass. Not all sectors yet know about this type of emissions and their relationship to air quality. Therefore, socialization is needed, accompanied by the application of appropriate technology. This community service (PkM) was conducted as part of Tri Dharma, which is based on the research results of the air quality and disaster mitigation research team with SMAN 2 Selong, East Lombok Regency as a partner. PkM was carried out in the form of a demonstration of the use of a PM-type air emission concentration measurement system resulting from collaborative research between lecturers and students at the Physics Study Program, FMIPA, University of Mataram, to introduce students to the importance of maintaining air quality. The participants were 20 students. The method used in PkM was simple counseling integrated into tool/kit demonstrations. This activity provides many benefits for students in terms of directly understanding and practicing theory. Through demonstrations or applications of these teaching aids, students can directly see physical measurements using technology and technological aids, accompanied by counseling or providing information related to air quality and forms of mitigation. The limitations of air quality measurement devices can be overcome by using air quality measuring instruments as a direct demonstration tool. This activity provides benefits for students in increasing direct understanding regarding air quality and air disaster mitigation. Keywords: demonstration; air quality; disaster mitigation; particulate matter.

Abstract

Everyone should have environmental awareness, but in reality, this is not evident, as reflected in the indifference shown when littering and a lack of empathy towards the surrounding environment and environmental issues. This article aims to explain the importance of fostering environmental awareness among students through environmentally conscious history education. It is hoped that students will be able to understand the root causes of environmental issues occurring around them and the impacts they may cause. Students can also learn from history how environmental solutions can be applied in the present by adapting to the spirit of the times. The method used to compile this article is a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach, using relevant sources from journals, books, and other written materials. Pembelajaran sejarah berwawasan lingkungan is an integrated effort to provide a broad understanding of environmental history and its significance for human life. Therefore, fostering environmental awareness is one of the responsibilities of history education, making environmental issues a focus of study that can be integrated into history education. In its implementation, pembelajaran sejarah berwawasan lingkungan can utilise the problem-based learning model, enabling students to analyse the causes of environmental issues resulting from human activities in the past that impact the present, and to identify solutions for current problems that can be derived from past experiences and adapted to the current environmental conditions. This approach aims to create contextual and easily understandable learning experiences, ultimately leading to enhanced environmental awareness among students.

Abstract

The Kampus Mengajar Program is an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) aimed at improving the quality of education in Indonesia, particularly in schools facing challenges in literacy, numeracy, and digitalization. SMPN 3 Gerung is one of the target schools of the Kampus Mengajar Batch 7 Program, where issues such as low reading interest, lack of understanding of numeracy concepts, and limited use of technology in learning were identified.The objective of this community engagement is to enhance students’ literacy, numeracy, and digital adaptation skills through various intervention programs designed and implemented by Kampus Mengajar students. The method employed includes school needs assessment, solution-based program design, phased implementation, and evaluation to measure program effectiveness. The literacy program consists of 15-minute reading sessions before lessons, a reading corner, and a literacy clinic. The numeracy program includes a numeracy-rich environment and educational games such as the snake and ladder game and puzzles. Meanwhile, the digital adaptation program encompasses Canva training and the use of digital educational media.The results of this program indicate an improvement in students’ literacy and numeracy skills, as evidenced by increased pre-test and post-test scores. Additionally, students' ability to utilize technology for learning has significantly improved. Thus, this program has positively contributed to enhancing the quality of education at SMPN 3 Gerung and can serve as a model for similar community engagement initiatives in other schools facing comparable challenges.

Abstract

The dynamic nature of estuarine waters necessitates new and accurate methodological approaches for determining salt content or salinity. This can be achieved through direct and real-time measurement of instantaneous and daily EC (Electrical Conductivity) levels in estuaries using EC sensors. On the other hand, similar real-time research has been limited, especially for studies of a continuous real-time nature. Therefore, this study aims to identify the relationship between EC and salinity in an estuary, using the area around the Batulayar estuary, West Lombok Regency, as a case study, employing a direct measurement model continuously for one full day. Measurements were conducted over 5 days during different lunar phases, using direct data acquisition and a numerical linearity approach via data analysis plug-ins. The identification results demonstrate a relationship between EC and salinity. At minimum values, salinity decreases as EC decreases. This reduction follows a quadratic pattern, with an obtained coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.8684 (y = 87397x² – 11173x + 2004.8). This characteristic is also supported by other measured parameters, such as TDS (Total Dissolved Solids), which exhibits a linear relationship with EC. The relationship characteristic between TDS and EC is considerably stronger, as indicated by a linear equation (R² > 0.90).

Abstract

High-quality water resources are important parameters for the sustainability of human civilization, the health of ecosystems, and the advancement of vital sectors. High-quality water is also needed for shrimp cultivation ponds. However, water-quality monitoring in the estuary is limited. In line with this, this study focuses on the design and implementation of an IoT-based TDS and temperature measurement system for estuarine water, aiming to develop an efficient, accurate, and automated prototype to support the fisheries sector in West Lombok regency. This study used a microcontroller, temperature and TDS (total dissolved solids) sensors, a wireless router, and a display. These elements were developed as a water-quality-level monitoring system based on TDS and temperature. The system was calibrated using a standard comparator before being examined under real conditions. The calibration procedure was conducted inside a controlled chamber at a water temperature of 25°C for 60 minutes, with a steady flow rate. All procedures were repeated three times and tested using a Student’s t-test. The IoT platform was tested using RSSI values with a 2s update interval. The calibration data were interpreted as a linear function between the standard and the developed system. The resulting design shows that the developed system can be installed at a shrimp cultivation pond with good performance. The designed system has a linearity of more than 90%. The system has a reliable accuracy level over 30 consecutive measurement days, resulting in the percentages of 85% to 93% (average = 91%). It can be concluded that IoT data communication via a wireless internet router performs well, with RSSI> -50 dBm for both sending and receiving. The IoT platform using ThingSpeak shows good performance (good stability), with a 2-second interval between data updates.

Abstract

One area that requires attention in water quality studies is the estuarine ecosystem. Estuaries are transition zones connecting freshwater and marine waters, thus possessing unique environmental dynamics. However, there is limited information regarding the effect of sea tides in the area on local estuary water quality. Therefore, this study aims to identify the existing relationship between sea tide levels and EC values, using an IoT-based system that is portable, lightweight, and capable of operating in real time. This study was conducted over five days in Senggigi village, Batulayar, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The collected data focused on the EC parameter's water quality levels at different tide levels, which were monitored using the self-developed system. This system was developed using an EC sensor, a microcontroller, and a wireless internet router (for wireless data communication via ThingSpeak.com). This system was also equipped with a pH sensor, a TDS sensor, and a water temperature sensor. The recorded data show that the resulting data are valid and highly accurate, and that the system is ready for examination at the measurement area. The resulting data show that the correlation between tide level and EC value is logarithmic, with a regression coefficient of 0.934. The EC level was about 20.42 – 62.54 mS/cm, depending on the tide level. It can be concluded that the tide level indeed influences the EC parameter in the estuary area. Moreover, TDS plays an important role in regulating EC levels, underscoring the need to systematically measure this parameter in any estuarine water-quality study.
