Abstract

Excessive noise exposure during the manufacturing process is a widespread issue. This research aimed to analyze noise exposure in the kernel recovery station in the manufacturing process of palm oil. We conduct some measurements and calculations for noise exposure analysis to get the Equivalent Noise Level (Leq) value during the daytime for each measurement point. The noise measurement was conducted on four machines, including a depericarper and polishing drum machine, ripple mill machine, silo dryer machine, and clay bath machine. In addition, this research showed noise contour mapping to define the noise distribution.  The results of this research are that only the clay bath machine had Ls below the threshold. The clay bath machine workstation has good noise levels. The Depericarper, Polishing Drum, Ripple Mill, and Silo Dryer Machine must be quieter. Thus, this research used the Hierarchy of Control Approach to reduce and control hazardous noise exposure. The stage of HOC includes elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative control, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Abstract

The packaging station is one of the stations needed to produce the product. The workers in this station are still doing the process manually. The packaging station has several processes, namely the weighing process, the sewing process, and the moving process of the finished product by manually lofting the sack from the sewing machine to the pallet. The moving process has three activities holding, lifting, and moving. Workers who work manually often complain of pain felt while working, so they are at risk of experiencing musculoskeletal disorders. Accordingly, it is important to analyse the work posture to determine whether improvements must be made. The Rapid Entire Body Map (REBA) analyses the work position. Analysis of work posture is moving the product. The REBA method's posture assessment results are 8 for holding, 9 for lifting, and 10 for moving. From the results, it can be categorized as a high-risk level, and immediate improvements are needed. The improvements were made by designing a conveyor from the sewing machine to the pallet using the Anthropometric method with dimensions of 100cm, width of 65cm, and height of 113cm.

Abstract

The study at PT. Fenyen Agro Lestari identified poor work postures that affect worker health and productivity. Using the REBA method, the boiler department had the highest risk (score 11), followed by the maintenance (score 6) and Laboratory (score 4). Immediate ergonomic improvements are recommended to reduce musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).  The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of poor working posture on workers' musculoskeletal health in various departments of PT. Fenyen Agro Lestari, Indonesia and recommend ergonomic improvements to reduce the risk of MSDs. The methodology involves REBA for postural assessment, collecting musculoskeletal complaints via questionnaires, and analyzing data to recommend ergonomic improvements. The findings revealed that poor postures cause significant musculoskeletal disorders, especially in the Boiler department, highlighting the need for ergonomic improvements. This study is novel in that it applies the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method to a specific context within PT. Fenyen Agro Lestari, provides tailored ergonomic recommendations for multiple departments and addresses gaps in existing research on posture-related musculoskeletal disorders in the industry. The study’s limitations include a focus on only three departments, potential observer bias, and reliance on subjective questionnaire data, which may not fully capture all musculoskeletal issues or account for variations in individual worker experiences.

Abstract

This study investigates how price, product quality, and brand image shape retailers' purchase decisions for Semen Andalas, a product of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, in Medan City. The research is motivated by a paradoxical market phenomenon: regional cement demand and overall corporate sales are increasing, yet Semen Andalas is experiencing a declining market share amid intensifying competition. Adopting a causal research design, the study surveys all 97 building-material stores in Medan that have purchased Semen Andalas, using saturated sampling. Price, product quality, brand image, and purchase decision are operationalized into multi-item Likert scales, whose validity and reliability are confirmed through Pearson product-moment correlations and Cronbach's alpha. Data are analyzed using descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression. The results show that price, product quality, and brand image jointly explain 49.3% of the variance in purchase decisions (R² = 0.493) and have a positive and significant simultaneous effect. Partially, each variable also exerts a positive and significant influence, with price emerging as the strongest predictor, followed by product quality and brand image. These findings indicate that retailers' decisions are driven by a combination of perceived price fairness, functional performance, and brand trust rather than by product attributes alone. The study underscores the need for an integrated strategy that aligns pricing, quality management, and brand-building initiatives to strengthen Semen Andalas' competitive position in Medan's cement market.

Abstract

Risky driving behavior among motorcyclists is one of the main factors contributing to the high traffic accident rates, especially in developing countries. This study aims to identify, analyze, and synthesize various factors influencing risky riding behavior among motorcyclists thru a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research method was conducted by searching for scientific articles from various academic databases, such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and ScienceDirect, using keywords related to risky driving behavior, road safety, and motorcycle riders. The literature selection process was conducted based on inclusion and exclusion criteria to obtain relevant and high-quality articles. The study results show that risky driving behavior is influenced by several main factors, namely individual factors, psychological factors, environmental factors, and social and regulatory factors. The most frequently observed forms of risky behavior include speeding, using mobile phones while driving, not using personal protective equipment, running red lights, and aggressive behavior on the road. This study concludes that efforts to reduce risky driving behavior require a multidimensional approach thru safety education, consistent law enforcement, and the development of transportation policies focused on the safety of road users. This research is expected to serve as a foundation for the development of driving safety strategies and a reference for future studies.

Abstract

General elections are vital to democracy in Indonesia, yet the occupational health and safety (K3) of Voting Organizer Group (KPPS or election officers) officers is often overlooked. This study evaluates the impact of workload on the physiological health of election officers during the 2024 General Election using an ergonomics-based approach. Data were collected from seven KPPS members at TPS 07 Cerme Kidul, Gresik, East Java, measuring blood pressure and oxygen saturation before and after election day. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed significant increases in blood pressure (p = 0.046) and decreases in oxygen saturation (p = 0.047) post-election. Key risk factors identified include long working hours, insufficient rest, and static positions. The study recommends interventions such as work shift rotations, extended rest periods, enhanced health screenings, and ergonomic improvements at polling stations. These measures aim to improve the health and safety of election officers, contributing to safer and more sustainable elections.
