Abstract

Abstrak: Remaja pada usia prapubertas atau pubertas rentan mengalami gangguan kulit seperti jerawat. Sekitar 84% santri Pondok Pesantren Adnan Al Charish mengalami gangguan kulit seperti jerawat kulit kering, gatal atau alergi dan infeksi kulit. Alternatif yang dapat dilaksanakan untuk menurunkan masalah kulit adalah dengan pembuatan sabun natural. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan santri terkait dengan kondisi kulit dan pembuatan sabun wajah sesuai dengan jenis kulit yang dimiliki. Mitra merupakan santri putri santri putri dengan usia 17-18 tahun yang berjumlah 40 santri. Metode pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan cara pemaparan materi tentang kondisi kulit yang dilanjutkan dengan diskusi, selanjutnya pelatihan pembuatan sabun wajah sesuai jenis kulit dilakukan dengan metode praktik langsung. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan pengetahuan mitra yang dinilai dari nilai pre-post test mengalami peningkatan, saat post test pengetahuan pada kategori sangat baik naik sebesar 47,5% dan pada kategori baik naik sebesar 22,5%. Pengukuran keterampilan membuat sabun di akhir pelatihan menunjukkan 55% mitra memiliki keterampilan dalam kategori baik.Abstract: Adolescents at prepubertal or pubertal age are prone to skin disorders such as acne. About 84% of Adnan Al Charish Islamic Boarding School students experience skin disorders such as dry skin acne, itching or allergies and skin infections. An alternative that can be implemented to reduce skin problems is by making natural soap. Community service activities aim to increase the knowledge and skills of students related to skin conditions and making facial soap according to their skin type. Partners are female santri with the age of 17-18 years, totalling 40 santri. The method is carried out through a presentation on skin conditions, followed by a discussion. This is then followed by a hands-on training session on making facial soap tailored to different skin types.. The results of the activity show that partner knowledge assessed from the pre-post test scores has increased, when the post test knowledge in the excellent category increased by 47.5% and in the good category increased by 22.5%. Measurement of soap making skills at the end of the training showed 55% of partners had skills in the good category.

Abstract

AbstrakPenggunaan skincare di kalangan remaja santri semakin meningkat. Namun, banyak produk yang beredar di pasaran mengandung bahan tidak aman dan belum bersertifikasi BPOM maupun halal. Program pengabdian yang dilaksanakan di Pondok Pesantren ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan santri dalam mendeteksi skincare yang aman dan halal. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 40 santri putri berusia 17–18 tahun yang dipilih melalui observasi awal. Pelatihan dimulai dengan pemaparan materi tentang ciri-ciri produk skincare berisiko, pentingnya sertifikasi BPOM dan halal, serta pelatihan praktis untuk mengidentifikasi label dan menguji keberadaan bahan berbahaya merkuri dalam sampel skincare menggunakan reagen kit. Hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan para santri, dengan 96% peserta mencapai kategori baik. Sementara itu, keterampilan deteksi merkuri berada dalam kategori sangat baik. Program ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran santri terhadap pentingnya memilih produk yang sesuai dengan prinsip syariah dan standar keamanan. Diharapkan, santri dapat lebih bijak dalam memilih produk skincare, sehingga masalah kulit di kalangan santri dapat berkurang. Kata kunci: pelatihan deteksi; skincare; aman; halal; merkuri. AbstractThe use of skincare products among teenage students in Islamic boarding schools has been on the rise. However, many products on the market contain harmful ingredients and lack certification from BPOM or halal approval. This community outreach program, conducted at an Islamic boarding school, aims to improve students' knowledge and skills in identifying safe and halal skincare products.  The initiative involved 40 female students aged 17–18, selected through an initial observation process. The training commenced with sessions covering the traits of potentially harmful skincare products, the significance of BPOM and halal certification, and hands-on practice in analyzing product labels and testing for hazardous substances, such as mercury, in skincare samples using reagent kits.  The outcomes demonstrated a notable enhancement in students' understanding, with 96% achieving a "good" level of knowledge. Furthermore, their ability to detect mercury was rated as "outstanding." This program effectively heightened the students' awareness of the necessity of choosing products that comply with Islamic values and safety standards. It is expected that the students will make wiser decisions when selecting skincare products, helping to minimize skin-related issues within their community. Keywords: training on detecting safe; skincare; safe; halal; mercury

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan bonggol jagung sebagai energi alternatif yang mendukung kemandirian masyarakat Desa Tondomulo. Bonggol jagung, yang selama ini dianggap limbah, memiliki potensi sebagai bahan bakar ramah lingkungan untuk mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap energi fosil. Mitra dalam kegiatan ini adalah BUMDes, Kelompok Tani dan PKK. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada masyarakat tentang pengolahan bonggol jagung menjadi briket yang dapat digunakan sebagai sumber energi alternatif dan memiliki nilai ekonomi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), yang berfokus pada pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pemanfaatan potensi lokal. Proses pengabdian meliputi Identifikasi Aset Komunitas, Pemetaan Aset, Pembangunan Relasi dan Jaringan, Identifikasi dan Penetapan Tujuan Bersama, Perencanaan Tindakan, Evaluasi dan Pembelajaran, Penguatan Keberlanjutan. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatannnya ini adalah peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya energi terbarukan, pengurangan limbah organik, dan terciptanya kemandirian energi desa. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi model pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis sumber daya lokal yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The global energy crisis and climate change issues have driven the development of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources, one of which is the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) utilizing natural pigment-based photosensitizers. Catharanthus roseus (tapak dara) was selected due to its abundance of secondary metabolites and its potential to be modified into Zn and Cu nanoparticles to enhance stability and efficiency. In this study, tapak dara leaf extract was obtained using ethanol through ultrasonic extraction, then synthesized into Zn and Cu nanoparticles with Zn:Cu ratios of 0:4, 1:3, 2:2, 3:1, and 4:0 via green synthesis. The resulting nanoparticles were deposited onto TiO₂ electrodes, with Pt used as the counter electrode in the DSSC. The cells were tested under 9 mW halogen light. The results revealed that the Zn:Cu ratio influenced crystallite size, morphology, and solar cell efficiency. XRD characterization confirmed the formation of ZnO and Cu phases with crystallite sizes ranging from 9 to 40 nm, while SEM analysis showed nanometer-sized particles with a tendency to agglomerate. The highest efficiency was achieved at a 3:1 ratio, reaching 120 × 10⁻⁴ %, indicating that Zn/Cu–tapak dara nanoparticles hold strong potential as effective photosensitizers.

Abstract

Packaging for natural-ingredient-based pharmaceutical products serves not only to protect the product but also as a communication medium that can enhance the product’s appeal and market value. However, students’ knowledge and skills in designing packaging's visual language remain limited. This community service activity aims to improve students' understanding and skills at SMK Sentosa Dharma Bojonegoro in designing the visual language of packaging for natural-ingredient-based pharmaceutical products. The methods used included counseling, training, packaging design practice, and guidance on product label creation. There were 35 participants in the activity, all of whom were students in the pharmacy program. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test instruments as well as an assessment of the packaging design results. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' average knowledge score from 58.4 on the pre-test to 84.7 on the post-test, representing a 45.0% increase. Additionally, the packaging design assessment results showed an average score of 86.2 (good category), with 88.6% of participants able to arrange visual identity elements, product information, and visual communication in accordance with pharmaceutical packaging design principles. The satisfaction survey results showed that 91.4% of participants reported that the training was very beneficial in improving their product packaging design skills. This activity proved effective in enhancing students’ competencies in designing informative, attractive, and economically valuable.

Abstract

Background: Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory condition of the pilosebaceous unit, one of the contributing causes of which namely the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes. Long-term utilization of synthetic antibacterial agents may result in bacterial antibiotic resistance; therefore, alternative therapies based on natural ingredients are needed. Leaves from the water apple plant (Syzygium aqueum). Contain active compounds which consists of flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and alkaloids, which possess bacterial inhibition activity and can be formulated into skincare products such as toners. Toner refers to a liquid skincare preparation that is applied to assist in cleansing the skin from residual impurities, balance skin pH, control excess oil, and help manage acne problems. Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physical characteristics and antibacterial effect of an ethanolic extract toner formulation derived from water apple leaves active against Propionibacterium acnes. Method:  Inhibitory power test research method (agar diffusion – disk) with four variations of extract concentration, namely F0 (0%), F1 (1%), F2 (3%), and F3 (5%). Extraction was carried out by maceration using 96% ethanol. The toner To ensure quality, the prepared toner samples underwent several physical assessments, including observation of appearance, consistency, pH value, moisture content, andflow properties. Antibacterial activity was assessed using the agar diffusion method with paper discs. Results: The results showed that the water apple leaf extract toner formulations met the quality requirements in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for topical preparations, as indicated by acceptable organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, moisture content, and viscosity. Furthermore, the antibacterial activity test demonstrated that the ethanol extract toner formulation F3 at a concentration of 5% exhibited the strongest inhibitory effect against Propionibacterium acnes, with an average inhibition zone diameter of 15.03 mm. Conclusion: The ethanol extract toner preparation of guava leaves meets physical quality standards according to SNI and has fairly high effectiveness as an antibacterial agent in inhibiting the growth of bacteria that cause acne.

Abstract

Kulit rentan mengalami kerusakan yang diakibatkan paparan radikal bebas yang dapat mengakibatkan stres oksidatif dan penuaan dini sehingga diperlukan antioksidan dalam sediaan topikal. Salah satu tanaman yang memiliki potensi antioksidan alami yaitu tapak dara (Catharanthus roseus L.) karena mengandung flavonoid, fenolik, dan alkaloid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk formulasi ekstrak daun tapak dara pada sediaan face mist dengan menguji karakteristik fisik dan tingkat aktivitas antioksidannya. Ekstrak didapat dengan ekstraksi ultrasonik menggunakan pelarut etanol 70% dan diformulasikan dalam tiga konsentrasi ekstrak yaitu 0,5, 1, dan 1,5 gram. Evaluasi meliputi uji organoleptik, pH, daya semprot, waktu kering, homogenitas, kelembapan kulit, bobot jenis, viskositas, dan aktivitas antioksidan metode DPPH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan seluruh formula memenuhi persyaratan sediaan face mist dengan pH 4,6–5,0, daya semprot 5,3–7 cm, waktu kering kurang dari 5 menit, dan homogen. Formula F3 memberikan peningkatan kelembapan kulit tertinggi sebesar 60% serta aktivitas antioksidan terbaik dengan nilai IC50 108,10 ppm. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan konsentrasi ekstrak tapak dara meningkatkan aktivitas antioksidan sediaan face mist.

Abstract

Streptococcus mutans berperan dalam karies melalui produksi asam dan biofilm. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh ekstrak etanol Ocimum basilicum var. sativum L. 8%, 10%, dan 12% dalam mouthwash serbuk instan terhadap mutu fisik dan daya hambat Streptococcus mutans. Empat formula, yaitu F0, F1, F2, dan F3, dievaluasi secara organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, waktu alir, sedimentasi, serta diameter zona hambat dengan difusi sumuran. Seluruh formula homogen dan memiliki pH 6,30-6,73 sesuai ISO 16408:2015. Peningkatan kadar ekstrak memperpanjang waktu alir dan meningkatkan sedimentasi. Zona hambat F1, F2, dan F3 masing-masing 12,50 ± 2,65; 18,37 ± 1,94; dan 19,83 ± 1,34 mm, sedangkan F0 tidak menghambat. One-way ANOVA membuktikan adanya pengaruh bermakna terhadap daya hambat (p<0,001). Formula F3 menghasilkan aktivitas numerik tertinggi, tetapi F2 merupakan formula paling seimbang karena tidak berbeda bermakna dari F3 serta memiliki waktu alir dan sedimentasi lebih rendah.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman hayati tinggi yang berpotensi sebagai sumber bahan baku obat herbal, salah satunya adalah tapak dara yang mengandung berbagai metabolit sekunder. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi golongan senyawa fitokimia hasil fraksinasi ekstrak etanol tapak dara menggunakan metode Kromatografi Lapis Tipis (KLT). Proses ekstraksi dilakukan secara sonikasi terhadap 500 g serbuk daun dengan 1.000 mL etanol 96%, menghasilkan rendemen sebesar 7,28%. Fraksinasi dilakukan bertingkat menggunakan pelarut n-heksana, etil asetat, dan etanol, menghasilkan randemen masing-masing sebesar 21,4%, 10,2%, dan 18,9%. Hasil KLT menunjukkan bahwa fraksi n-heksana mengandung alkaloid (Rf 0,28; 0,33; 0,39) dan flavonoid (Rf 0,28), fraksi etil asetat mengandung alkaloid (Rf 0,80; 0,88), flavonoid (Rf 0,11), serta tanin (Rf 0,11; 0,44), sedangkan fraksi etanol negatif terhadap semua uji.

Abstract

Abstrak: Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) masih menjadi masalah kesehatan serius di Indonesia, khususnya di lingkungan pesantren. Salah satu upaya preventif adalah pemanfaatan insektisida nabati berbahan alami seperti tapak dara (Catharanthus roseus L.) yang mengandung sitronellol dan geraniol sebagai senyawa repelan. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan santri pondok pesantren di Bojonegoro, dalam pembuatan spray antinyamuk herbal. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 40 santri putri melalui tahapan sosialisasi, ceramah, diskusi interaktif, dan praktik langsung. Evaluasi pengetahuan dilakukan dengan pretest–posttest dengan masing-masing 10 pertanyaan, sedangkan keterampilan diamati langsung oleh tim pengabdian. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada aspek pemahaman yakni 90% peserta mencapai kategori sangat baik setelah sosialisasi. Pada aspek keterampilan yakni 82,5% peserta mampu meracik spray antinyamuk secara mandiri sesuai prosedur.Abstract: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, particularly in Islamic boarding schools. One preventive effort is the use of botanical insecticides derived from natural plants such as periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus L.), which contains citronellol and geraniol as repellent compounds. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of students at Islamic Boarding School, Bojonegoro, in producing herbal mosquito repellent spray. The program involved 40 female students through stages of socialization, lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice. Knowledge evaluation was conducted using pretest–posttest with 10 questions each, while skills were assessed through direct observation. Results indicated a significant improvement in knowledge (soft skills), with 90% of participants achieving an excellent category after the training. Meanwhile, 82.5% of participants demonstrated the ability to independently formulate and package mosquito repellent spray according to procedures.
