Abstract

Sembalun Village boasts abundant natural resources, yet only Mount Rinjani has been fully developed to its maximum potential. Therefore, it is crucial to explore and analyze the various potentials that Sembalun Village possesses for agrotourism development. This study aims to identify these potentials and their implications for the community in developing agrotourism attractions. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach to provide an in-depth overview of the conditions and potential for agrotourism development in Sembalun Village. Data collection was conducted through three primary techniques: participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that Mount Rinjani and its surroundings have significant potential for integrated tourism development. The hills around Sembalun Village offer spectacular views that attract photography enthusiasts. Developing photography spots with supporting facilities can enhance the tourist experience. Additionally, the fields and plantations offer refreshing natural tourism experiences. The development of integrated tourism packages with agrotourism can provide a richer experience for tourists and economic benefits for the local community.

Abstract

The tourism industry in Indonesia, with its diverse culture and natural resources, offers significant potential for economic growth. However, challenges such as intense competition and the need for sustainability demand innovation in tourism entrepreneurship business models. This study aims to explore product innovation and tourist experiences in three major destinations: Bali, Yogyakarta, and Lombok. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations. The results indicate that the integration of local culture and digital technology enhances the attractiveness of destinations, creating unique experiences for tourists and providing economic benefits to local communities. Although innovation offers numerous advantages, challenges such as limitations in human resources and technological support still need to be addressed to achieve long-term sustainability in the industry. This research fills a gap in the literature by adopting an interdisciplinary approach that encompasses cultural, economic, and technological aspects of tourism entrepreneurship.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to identify the potential for developing Sapit Village as a community-based tourism village through a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. Sapit Village, located in Lombok Timur Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, offers diverse natural and cultural attractions such as mountain nous landscapes, traditional weaving, and authentic agricultural practices, yet these assets remain suboptimally managed within a sustainable tourism framework. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered via participatory observation, in-depth interviews with community leaders, tourism practitioners, and policymakers, and documentation review of village development plans and tourism regulations. Internal (strengths and weaknesses) and external (opportunities and threats) factors were mapped to formulate locally relevant development strategies. Findings indicate that Sapit Village’s primary strengths include its natural endowments, cultural heritage, active community engagement, and creative-economic potential (e.g., weaving and agritourism). Key challenges involve inadequate infrastructure, limited human-resource capacity, and non-professional institutional management. Opportunities arise from supportive tourism policies, experiential-tourism trends, digital-technology advances, and strategic partnership prospects. External threats encompass environmental degradation, cultural erosion, digital-access disparities, and natural-disaster risks. The study concludes that an integrative, participatory development approach balancing social, economic, cultural, and environmental dimensions, is essential. These insights provide strategic guidance for regional authorities, local communities, and stakeholders in designing inclusive, sustainable tourism-village development. Future research should further explore quantitative assessments of visitor preferences, longitudinal studies on community capacity building, and comparative analyses with other emerging tourism villages to enrich the strategic framework and ensure broader applicability. Keywords: Tourism Village; SWOT; Empowerment; Sustainable Tourism; Strategy

Abstract

This study aims to reveal a new understanding of Mandalika folklore through Derrida's deconstruction. The goal is to demonstrate that Derrida's approach uncovers objective meanings and offers a theoretical alternative to traditional interpretations. By contextualizing new meanings through deconstruction, the study provides varied insights without relying solely on the author's intended meaning. The research employs Derrida's deconstruction through textual and in-depth analysis, exploring the concept of difference to identify binary contexts in the narrative structure. It includes case studies, comparisons of folkloric versions, interdisciplinary approaches for a comprehensive view, and critical analysis. The process begins with a synopsis representing the entire Mandalika folklore text. Findings indicate that Mandalika folklore’s meanings extend beyond conventional understandings, emerging from dynamic interactions between textual and non-textual elements. These new meanings challenge previous interpretations shaped by authorial authority. The study highlights how Mandalika folklore reflects the patriarchal Sasak society, revealing tragic choices born from social disharmony. It emphasizes the need for the Sasak community to use the Mandalika narrative for reflection and reevaluation of gender relations. The folklore advocates for gender equality, depicting Mandalika as both a hero and a victim of patriarchal norms. This new understanding calls for a reassessment of gender roles and societal expectations.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the authenticity and cultural identity embedded in traditional Lombok cuisine and its potential as a sustainable tourism attraction. A qualitative descriptive approach with an ethnographic method was employed. Data were collected through field observations, in depth interviews with culinary practitioners, traditional leaders, academics, and policymakers, as well as documentation, and were analyzed using Spradley’s model, including domain, taxonomic, componential, and cultural theme analysis. The findings reveal that the authenticity of Lombok’s traditional cuisine is reflected in the use of local ingredients, inherited recipes, and traditional cooking techniques based on wood fired stoves that produce distinctive flavors. The cultural identity of the Sasak community is manifested through the symbolic meaning of spiciness, the strong linkage between food and ritual practices, and communal dining traditions that emphasize togetherness. Traditional cuisine also functions as a medium for cultural identity reproduction and has strong potential to become a core attraction in the diversification of community based sustainable tourism products. The study implies the importance of synergy among government, local communities, academics, and the private sector in strengthening digital promotion, developing culinary infrastructure, improving business management capacity and reinforcing environmentally sustainable local supply chains. Future research is recommended to examine tourist’s perceptions of culinary authenticity, develop technology based culinary tourism models and conduct quantitative studies on the economic contribution of traditional cuisine to local community welfare.
