Abstract

The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of the ELSA talk application in facilitating pronunciation instruction. The study focused on a tenth-grade student enrolled at SMA Islam Darul Mujahidin NWDI Majidi during the 2024 academic year, which had a total of 18 pupils. This study utilized a pre-experimental research design, specifically a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The researcher employed pre-test and post-test instruments to get the data. The data in this study was analyzed using SPSS 22 for Windows. The researcher conducted the treatment over the course of four meetings. The analysis revealed that the average score after the exam was higher than the average score before the test (77.22>50.83), and the hypothesis was confirmed (t(z) = -3.756 at p = 0.000). It was reported that the treatment effectively enhanced students' pronunciation skills. The study determined that the utilization of the "ELSA speak application" for teaching pronunciation can enhance the English pronunciation skills of students.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the impact of Gartic.io-based Pictionary game on English vocabulary of students at SMAN 1 Sakra Timur. This research used a quantitative method with a true experimental design. The population of the research consisted of eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Sakra Timur academic year 2024/2025, with a sample was 36 students for two classes, 18 students in the experimental group (XI 1) and 18 students in the control group (XI 2). Data were collected using multiple-choice tests as pre-tests and post-tests to measure English vocabulary improvement. The data analysis technique used was an independent sample T-test conducted via SPSS version 22. The researcher found a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.317. Since 0.317 > 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected, and the null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Gartic.io-based Pictionary game does not significantly impact the vocabulary achievement of high school students.

Abstract

This research aimed at find teachers’ strategies to improve students’ self-confidence in speaking. This study used qualitative descriptive method. Instrument of collecting data was interview, observation and questionnaire. The participant were sixth teachers and ten students of BestOne Education English Courses. Based on the findings, there was several strategies to improve students’ self-confidence. Those strategies are group discussion, increasing vocabulary, taking an approach by providing motivation and using technology as a learning media. These strategies were very helpful to encourage students’ self confidence in speaking, because each strategies giving a chance for students to practice speaking. Besides that, the advantages that students got from those, help students increase their vocabulary and build an interaction between passive and active students, and make the class more fun and not boring.

Abstract

The study aims to assess the role of the Kuta Beach environment on the English language learning of young bracelet sellers there and how they use English in their daily activities. This study encourages qualitative approach, data collection techniques using, observation, interview and documentation. The researcher found and concluded that the environment at Kuta Beach plays a significant role in the development of English language skills among these children even to develop next level that is grammar mastery. Even they are not necessarily having access to informal education such as course. They are able to communicate effectively due to their regular interactions with tourists from diverse country. The lively and socially engaging environment of Kuta Beach provides them with opportunities to practice and improve their language skills.

Abstract

This research aims to discover the teaching techniques and educational values in the Freedom Writers movie. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive qualitative design. The data collection technique in this research is watching the movie, classifying and writing the teaching techniques and educational values found, and then coding the data. The data analysis techniques use a procedure by Cresswell. The result of this research shows that there are nine teaching techniques found in the movie: authentic material, transformation drill, task-based instruction, creative adaption, teacher silence, paragraph writing, guided writing, reading aloud, and journal writing. Moreover, nine educational values are found in this movie: honesty, courage, self-discipline, loyalty, respect, self-confidence, love and affection, kindness and friendliness, and justice.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara gaya berpikir siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris dan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh guru. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 01 Sakra Barat. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 25 siswa kelas delapan dan seorang guru Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan observasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa menikmati pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah. Mereka merasa bahwa pelajaran tersebut menarik dan tidak membosankan. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti beberapa strategi yang diterapkan oleh guru untuk menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang menyenangkan, seperti memahami karakteristik dan gaya belajar siswa, mengenali gaya berpikir mereka, melakukan pemanasan sebelum pelajaran dimulai, menggunakan metode dan lokasi pembelajaran yang bervariasi, memberikan apresiasi terhadap partisipasi siswa, dan menghindari menyalahkan siswa ketika mereka membuat kesalahan saat mencoba belajar.
