Abstract

Purpose: Prospective teacher educations has the challenge of being able to equip teachers with the skills to manage classroom learning by utilizing various technological resources. One approach that can be taken is to design lectures who can contribute to the development of TPACK. This study examines the suitability of online learning practices in earth and space science courses for the development of TPACK prospective for prospective science teachers in primary education. Methodology: The survey research was conducted on 68 students who took Earth and Space Science courses online in the even semester of 2019/2020. Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) were conducted to analyse the validity of the instrument and testing of hypotheses. Results: The result of the factor analysis showed that the 27 instruments used had sufficient correlation to confirm the structure of each variable. SEM analysis results show that online learning that has been implemented has a positive and significant effect on the development of pre-service teacher TPACK. Applications/Originality/Value: These findings are a reference for those who intend to develop an online learning framework that can support the development of TPACK for prospective teachers.

Abstract

Mathematics subjects with the development of numeracy skills are two inseparable things because numeracy skills encourage students to develop critical, logical and creative thinking. The ability to count also has great relevance in students' lives because it is directly related to everyday situations. However, there is a problem faced by students at SDN Kramat 06, namely their lack of numeracy skills. Through field observations, there are findings that show that numeracy skills at SDN Kramat 06 are still relatively low. This is shown in the learning outcomes and oral test scores carried out in class which are still relatively low. This situation is because the use of conventional learning models makes students passive and the teacher is too dominant so that students can only listen to the explanation given. The selection of the Problem Based Learning Model assisted by Colors by Numbers media is expected to improve students' numeracy skills. The results of statistical analysis show that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Colors by Numbers media makes changes to improving the numeracy skills of class IV students at SDN Kramat 06. This is reflected in the results of the experimental class achieving better numeracy skills than the control class and the use of the Problem Based Learning model with the help of Colors by Numbers media has a significant effect on the numeracy skills of class IV students at SDN Kramat 06.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the extent to which the utilization of the picture and picture learning model, with the assistance of Quizizz Paper Mode, impacts the motivation and science learning results of elementary school children. The use of conventional teaching and learning models and less interactive media results in low student learning motivation at the teaching and learning stage, and as a result, learning outcomes are less than optimal. This study utilized a quasi-experimental approach, specifically employing a posttest-only control group design. We processed the data using: 1) descriptive statistics; 2) normality tests; 3) homogeneity; 4) t-test hypotheses, and effect sizes. The results of the t-test on learning motivation indicate that tcount (4.742) surpasses ttable (2.010), whereas the t-test on learning outcomes reveals that tcount (2.753) surpasses ttable (2.010), leading to the acceptance of Ha and the rejection of Ho. The effect size test reveals a significant impact, specifically a significant increase in learning motivation (d = 1.341) Furthermore, there was a notable enhancement in learning outcomes, with an effect size of 0.778. Thus, we may infer that implementing this instructional model has an impact on the motivation and learning outcomes of elementary school students of IPAS subjects.

Abstract

The low learning outcomes of IPAS elementary school students, especially in the material on changes in the form of abstract objects, shows the need for a more contextual and visual learning approach. So far, various studies have discussed the CTL model and digital pop-up book media separately, but there are still limited studies that combine these models and learning media.therefore, This study aims to examine the effect of applying the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, supported by digital pop-up book media, on the learning outcomes of Grade IV elementary school students in the subject of Integrated Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS), specifically on the topic of changes in the states of matter. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, involving 30 students as participants. The findings indicated that the data were normally distributed. Furthermore, the results of the paired sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (tcount 7.758 > t table 2.042 and sig. 0.000) The calculation of the effect size using Cohen’s d yielded a value of 1.416, which falls within the very large category. Accordingly, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model, supported by digital pop-up book media, is effective in enhancing the learning outcomes of Grade IV elementary school students in science subjects, particularly on the topic of changes in the states of matter.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop the Harmoni Smart Box Learning Media, an interactive instructional medium that integrates a three-dimensional ecosystem model, ecosystem concept cards, environmental problem cards, and student-centered exploratory activities to support students’ conceptual understanding. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the ADDIE model. Before classroom implementation, the product was validated by experts in science content, instructional media, pedagogy, and research instrument development. A limited field trial using a one-group pretest–posttest design was subsequently conducted with 32 fifth-grade students at SDN Tengah 03 Jakarta. Product feasibility was assessed using expert validation questionnaires, whereas students’ conceptual understanding was measured through pretest and posttest assessments. The expert validation results showed that the developed learning media achieved a very high level of feasibility across all evaluated aspects. Students’ conceptual understanding also improved after using the media, and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a statistically significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the Harmoni Smart Box Learning Media is highly feasible for use in elementary science instruction and shows promising potential to support students’ conceptual understanding in a limited classroom setting. Nevertheless, further studies involving larger and more diverse samples, as well as control groups, are required to evaluate its instructional effectiveness more comprehensively.
