Abstract

Background: Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) is very important for health, life, and development. Worldwide an estimated 2.4 billion people still lack basic sanitation. PHBS is a concern for the government because it becomes a benchmark for increasing health coverage in the SDGs program in 2015-2030. PHBS and SDGs are one of the prevention efforts that can have a short-term impact on improving health, including the family, the general public, and schools. The knowledge and awareness of the community, especially the people who live in the village are still relatively low to get used to having a clean and healthy life. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of public knowledge about PHBS in Rumengkor Village, Minahasa Regency. Method: Descriptive quantitative to describe the level of community knowledge about PHBS. The sample was the people of Rumengkor Village, Minahasa Regency, who are respondents from 78 people, which are determined   using   purposive   sampling.   Data   were   obtained by interview and using demographic characteristics questionnaire and PHBS questionnaire. Results: In general, the level of public knowledge about PHBS for clean water facilities, the availability of healthy latrines, waste disposal, fruit and vegetable consumption is good, but the level of knowledge about smoking habits is still very low. Conclusion: The results of this study illustrate the level of community knowledge about PHBS in Rumengkor Village is quite good. It's just that PHBS related to smoking habits are still relatively lacking. This happens because most of the respondents and family members are active or passive smokers. Recommendations for health workers are expected to be more active in providing health education in easily accessible language so that people can understand and make good use of the information received.

Abstract

Adolescents are the next generation who are currently in an important transitional stage toward adulthood. At this phase, they are highly vulnerable to various influences, including a lack of knowledge about reproductive health, the risk of stunting, and the impacts of early marriage. In response to these conditions, a community service activity was conducted at the Auditorium of STIKes Gunung Maria Tomohon, Tomohon City, with the aim of providing health education to students so that they can better understand the importance of adolescents’ role in preventing stunting and the negative impacts of early marriage. The program was carried out in three stages: planning in collaboration with the BKKBN team and the school, delivering interactive health education using engaging media, and evaluation through a question-and-answer session. A total of 164 students enthusiastically participated in the activity, and the discussion results revealed that reproductive health and early marriage were their primary concerns. It is expected that through continuous education, adolescents will be able to make wiser decisions for their future and contribute to stunting prevention within their communities. Programs like this are essential to be held regularly and to reach more schools.

Abstract

Hyperbilirubinemia is a condition characterized by elevated bilirubin levels in newborns that clinically appear as jaundice. This study aimed to describe the implementation of nursing care in newborns diagnosed with hyperbilirubinemia in a hospital setting. A descriptive case study approach was used involving three newborns with hyperbilirubinemia treated at Gunung Maria General Hospital, Tomohon, in March 2024. Data were obtained through comprehensive nursing care processes including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The findings indicated that the infants experienced neonatal jaundice accompanied by hyperthermia, risk of impaired skin integrity, risk of infection, and parental anxiety. Nursing interventions were carried out through phototherapy management, breastfeeding education, hyperthermia management, infection prevention, and maintenance of skin integrity. After four days of nursing care, bilirubin levels decreased and the identified nursing problems showed improvement. The implementation of nursing care, particularly phototherapy combined with supportive interventions, contributed to the improvement of the infants’ condition and reduction of bilirubin levels.

Abstract

Gunung Maria Hospital Tomohon has implemented Electronic Medical Records (EMR) since 2023. However, technical challenges and user unpreparedness hinder implementation. Evaluation using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is crucial to identify user perceptions. This study aims to assess the relationship between perceived usefulness, ease of use, behavioral intention, and actual use with EMR implementation. A quantitative cross-sectional design was used, involving 70 respondents. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests. The results show significant associations between EMR implementation and all TAM variables. Optimal EMR implementation supports service quality and administrative efficiency. In conclusion, EMR optimization should focus on training, technical support, and managerial policy.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that requires continuous health education to improve patients’ self-management abilities and prevent complications. The utilization of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) in digital health education is expected to enhance the effectiveness of health promotion, particularly in outpatient services. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between using HMIS utilization and the effectiveness of digital health promotion education among patients with T2DM. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of outpatients with T2DM who received digital health education services. A total of 100 respondents were included in the study. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed through univariate and bivariate analyses. The statistical test applied was the Chi-square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed a significant relationship between using HMIS utilization and the effectiveness of digital education among patients with T2DM, with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). Better implementation of HMIS was associated with higher effectiveness of digital education, reflected in improved patient knowledge, understanding, and motivation in disease management. Optimizing HMIS as a digital education platform is recommended to improve service quality and disease management in healthcare facilities.
