Abstract

Socializing and improving literacy movement skills in schools have not yielded maximum results because of the low level of mentoring and training to improve literacy awareness and skills among students and teachers. Many teachers still assume that literacy is the responsibility of Indonesian language subject teachers. In addition, reading materials and texts available in schools have not been optimally utilized to develop students' literacy skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of folklore as a medium for strengthening Indonesian language literacy in the world of education. This study used a library research method to analyze the use of folklore as a medium for strengthening Indonesian language literacy. The results of the study showed that folklore has great potential in strengthening Indonesian language literacy. Folklore not only functions as an entertaining medium, but also as an effective learning tool to develop students' reading and writing skills. Through folklore, students can enrich their vocabulary, understand text structures, and improve their understanding of good and correct Indonesian. In addition, folklore also teaches moral, social, and cultural values that are very relevant to students' daily lives. By introducing values such as honesty, hard work, and respect for parents, folklore can educate students to have a good attitude in their lives. Folklore also plays an important role in introducing and preserving local culture, strengthening the nation's cultural identity, and increasing pride in Indonesia's cultural heritage.

Abstract

Children are small humans who have potential that still needs to be developed. Children have certain characteristics that are unique and different from adults, they are always active, dynamic, enthusiastic and curious about what they see, hear, feel, they seem to never stop exploring and learning. Early childhood (range 0-6 years) is the right time for parents to provide education that helps develop positive behavior in children. Moreover, at this early age is the golden age, where the brain experiences very rapid or explosive development. Early childhood can be said to be repeat imitators, where children will imitate what is seen, heard, felt from their environment. This is because, early childhood does not yet know the boundaries of right or wrong, good or bad, and appropriate. Instilling character values in early childhood is an important step in forming a good personality from an early age. One effective method in character education is through literature, especially fairy tales. The method used is a qualitative method with library research. The results of the study show that fairy tales have great potential in instilling moral values, such as honesty, courage, responsibility, and empathy. Therefore, the use of fairy tales as a medium for early childhood character education is a relevant and effective strategy to support character in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of inadequate office facilities on the motivation and performance of employees in Tou Barat Village, Kota Baru Subdistrict, Ende Regency. The main problem in this study is the limited work facilities such as computers, printers, photocopiers, internet networks, and uncomfortable working conditions, which will have an impact on the decline in employee motivation and work effectiveness. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach, through interviews, observation, and documentation to obtain in-depth data from employees and village management. The results of the study show that limited office facilities have a negative effect on the motivation, work enthusiasm, and productivity of employees. Employees often experience obstacles in completing tasks due to a lack of administrative and technological support facilities. However, employees try to adapt by using personal facilities such as laptops and private internet networks. This situation can create additional financial and psychological burdens and cause imbalances in work performance. Based on these findings, strategic measures are needed from the village government in the form of providing adequate office facilities, regular maintenance, technology training for employees, and the implementation of a digital work system. With improved facilities and a well-planned strategy, it is hoped that motivation, effectiveness, and the quality of public services in Tou Barat Village can be significantly improved.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki on the productivity of cashew plants in Tou Barat Village, Ende Regency. The study is based on the high dependence of the village community on cashew crops as a primary source of income, meaning environmental disturbances such as volcanic ash have the potential to reduce their welfare. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, with research subjects including cashew farmes, village officials, agricultural extension workers, and community leaders. The results indicate that volcanic ash has physical impscts in the form of leaf and flower drop, a decline in fruit quality, and a reduction in productivity by 30-50%. Chemical impacts were also identified throught changes in soil fertility due to acidification, with soil pH dropping to below 5.0. although farmers have tried to adapt, such as through manual clearing and adding organic fertilizers, the results have not been optimal. The implications of this study emphasize the impotance of government and related institutions’ support in providing mitigation facilities, disaster adaptation training, and resilient plantation management policies against volcanic risks.

Abstract

Research on the history and development of the Indonesian language has shown a significant increase in recent years, influenced by social dynamics, language policies, and digital transformation. However, systematic mapping of research trends, collaboration patterns, and thematic focus in this field remains limited. This study aims to analyze the development of research on the history of the Indonesian language during the 2023–2025 period using a bibliometric approach. The data were retrieved from the Dimensions database using the keyword History of Indonesian Language and were limited to journal articles published between 2023 and 2025. A total of 889 articles were selected for analysis. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer to visualize bibliographic networks, including country, institutional, journal, and author collaborations, as well as keyword co-occurrence. The indicators used in this study include the number of publications, citation counts, and total link strength. The results indicate that 2023 recorded the highest number of publications. Indonesia emerged as the leading country in terms of publication output and citation impact, while China, Germany, and the United States demonstrated strong academic collaboration networks. Keyword analysis revealed dominant themes related to language history, language policy, and linguistic dynamics within global and digital contexts. This study concludes that bibliometric analysis is an effective method for identifying research trends, directions, and collaboration patterns in studies on the history of the Indonesian language. The findings are expected to provide valuable insights for future research development and to support evidence-based language policy formulation.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze the role of Indonesian language education in strengthening national identity and culture amid the increasingly complex dynamics of globalization. Indonesian holds a strategic position as both the national and state language, functioning not only as a means of communication but also as a symbol of national unity, a marker of collective identity, and a medium for transmitting national cultural values. However, globalization—characterized by the dominance of foreign languages, particularly English, rapid digital transformation, and changing language attitudes among younger generations—poses serious challenges to the ideological and cultural functions of Indonesian, especially within formal education. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, classroom observations of Indonesian language learning practices, and document analysis of curricula and instructional materials at secondary and higher education levels. The data were analyzed thematically through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by source and technique triangulation to ensure the trustworthiness of the findings. The results indicate that Indonesian language education that integrates national values, literary texts, and cultural elements plays a significant role in fostering students’ awareness of national identity and positive attitudes toward the Indonesian language. Moreover, Indonesian language learning functions as a form of cultural practice that contributes to the preservation of national cultural values. Nevertheless, the study reveals challenges related to students’ pragmatic orientation toward global languages and the dominance of foreign languages in digital spaces. Therefore, strengthening Indonesian language education through integrative, contextual, and adaptive curricula and pedagogical practices is essential to address global challenges while sustaining Indonesia’s national identity and cultural continuity.

Abstract

The Gren Mahe ceremony in Sikka Tana Ai is a traditional ritual that plays a crucial role in sustaining rice cultivation while representing the spiritual, social, and ecological relationships of agrarian communities. However, modernization and social change have posed challenges, leading to a decline in community participation and a shift in the symbolic meanings embedded within the ritual. This study aims to analyze the symbolic meanings and functions of the Gren Mahe ceremony in the context of local food preservation and to examine its relevance amid contemporary sociocultural dynamics. The research employs a symbolic ethnographic approach, consisting of three main stages: pre-research, field research, and post-research. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews with traditional elders, farmers, and community members, as well as documentation of the ritual. The data are analyzed using symbolic interpretation and triangulation methods to ensure validity. The findings are expected to contribute academically to cultural anthropology studies, provide strategic recommendations for food security policies based on local wisdom, and produce a scientific article published in a nationally accredited journal. Thus, this research reinforces the position of the Gren Mahe tradition as a cultural heritage that remains relevant for sustaining food security among the Sikka Tana Ai community.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Indonesian Language learning in higher education as a foundation for developing students’ academic literacy within an Outcome Based Education (OBE) framework. The research is motivated by serious concerns regarding students’ low academic writing ability, weak critical reading skills, and inconsistent use of academic language, which hinder the formation of academic culture at universities. The objective of this study is to describe and interpret the learning process, challenges, and outcomes of Indonesian Language courses in fostering academic literacy. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach conducted intensively over a three-week period. Data were collected through classroom observations, in depth interviews with lecturers and students, and document analysis of lesson plans, teaching materials, and students’ academic assignments. The findings reveal that although the course design conceptually aligns with OBE principles, its classroom implementation has not fully emphasized reflective processes, critical engagement, and consistent academic language practice. Learning activities tend to focus on task completion rather than on the development of academic thinking processes. The study implies that Indonesian Language learning should be strengthened through reflective, contextual, and process oriented strategies to enhance students’ academic literacy and academic identity. These findings contribute theoretically to studies on academic literacy and practically to the improvement of Indonesian Language instruction in higher education.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the growing concern over the weakening of students’ critical literacy skills and cultural awareness in higher education, particularly in the context of rapid digitalization and the dominance of global discourse. Local cultural traditions, especially those rooted in Maumere society, have not been optimally utilized as meaningful academic literacy resources in Indonesian language learning. This research aims to explore how Maumere cultural traditions can be integrated as sources of critical literacy to strengthen students’ interpretative, analytical, and reflective abilities. Employing a qualitative research approach, data were collected through classroom observations, in depth interviews with students and lecturers, and documentation of learning materials in Indonesian language courses at Universitas Muhammadiyah Maumere. The findings reveal that traditional texts, narratives, rituals, and oral expressions from Maumere culture contain rich linguistic, ethical, and symbolic meanings that support the development of critical reading and writing skills. The integration of cultural texts encourages students to engage more deeply with academic discourse while simultaneously reinforcing local identity and cultural sensitivity. This study implies that culturally grounded literacy practices not only enhance academic competencies but also contribute to the preservation of local wisdom within higher education learning frameworks.
