Abstract

A differentiated learning approach is a teaching strategy that accommodates students’ interests, talents, learning styles, and levels of readiness. This study aimed to determine the effect of a differentiated instruction approach on the science learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN 45 Mataram. The research employed a quantitative experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design with pretest-posttest procedures. The sample consisted of 49 students, including 25 students in the experimental class and 24 students in the control class. Data were collected through tests and observations, while data analysis was conducted using the Independent Samples t-test. The findings revealed that the differentiated learning approach had a significant effect on students’ science learning outcomes. This was indicated by a significance value of 0.002 (p < 0.05) and a calculated t-value of 3.202, which was higher than the table t-value of 2.011. Therefore, H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted. In addition, the mean N-Gain score of 0.5702 was categorized as moderate, indicating that differentiated instruction was sufficiently effective in improving students’ understanding and learning achievement in science subjects. Thus, the differentiated learning approach can serve as an effective alternative strategy to enhance students’ active participation and academic performance in elementary school science learning.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of teachers in establishing Child-Friendly Schools (SRA) in Kediri Subdistrict, identifies the supporting and inhibiting factors faced, and describes their efforts to overcome these obstacles. This qualitative descriptive study was conducted at SDN 1 Montong Are, SDN 1 Jagaraga Indah, and SDN 3 Banyumulek, West Lombok Regency, with 3 principals, 6 teachers, and 9 students as informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, while validity was tested through source and methodological triangulation. The results show that teachers act as facilitators, mentors, and motivators. As facilitators, they apply active and varied methods; as mentors, they provide individual guidance, instill positive discipline, and handle misconduct without violence; and as motivators, they give recognition and opportunities to build students’ self-confidence. Supporting factors include a conducive school environment, teachers’ understanding of SRA, and synergy among school, family, and community, whereas inhibiting factors include the family environment and low parental involvement. Teachers address these obstacles by strengthening communication with parents, adjusting their approaches, and fostering cooperation. The study underlines stronger school–family–community collaboration and enhanced teacher competence for optimal, sustainable SRA implementation.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum requires teachers to develop contextual learning resources that accommodate students' characteristics and local potential. However, the teaching modules used in science and social studies (IPAS) learning at SDN 02 Sembalun Bumbung had not integrated the local wisdom of the Sasak ethnic group, resulting in less meaningful learning experiences for students. This study aimed to develop a local wisdom-based IPAS teaching module for fourth-grade students and determine its validity and practicality. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Four-D (4D) development model, consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The research subjects were 27 fourth-grade students of SDN 02 Sembalun Bumbung. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires, while the research instruments consisted of material expert validation sheets, media expert validation sheets, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques. The results indicated that the developed teaching module obtained a validity score of 87.5% from the material expert (valid category) and 91.4% from the media expert (very valid category). Furthermore, the practicality assessment showed a teacher response score of 91.3% and a student response score of 91.1%, both classified as very practical. These findings indicate that the Sasak local wisdom-based IPAS teaching module is valid and practical for use in fourth-grade elementary school learning.

Abstract

Habit-forming activities are one of the ways schools strive to strengthen the Pancasila Student Profile by instilling character values in students’ daily lives. This study aims to describe the implementation of habit-forming activities in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile in the dimensions of faith, piety toward God Almighty, and noble character, as well as the dimension of mutual cooperation, and to identify supporting factors, constraints, and efforts made in their implementation at schools that have participated in the School Movement Program and non-participating schools. This study employs a qualitative approach using a comparative study design. The research was conducted at SDN 32 Cakranegara and SDN 40 Cakranegara. The research subjects consisted of school principals, teachers, and students. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman model, which encompasses data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that both schools have routinely implemented habit-forming activities through school culture and the learning process to strengthen the dimensions of faith, piety toward God Almighty, and noble character, as well as the dimension of mutual cooperation. SDN 32 Cakranegara has a more diverse and structured habit-forming program, while SDN 40 Cakranegara places greater emphasis on the consistency of implementing these habit-forming activities. Supporting factors include the principal’s commitment, teachers’ active involvement, a positive school culture, and support from the school community. Challenges faced include differences in students’ personalities, a lack of consistency in implementing habit-forming activities, and suboptimal family support. Efforts undertaken include setting a good example, providing ongoing guidance and supervision, offering motivation, and fostering cooperation with parents.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low reading comprehension skills of elementary school students, particularly in understanding the content of texts, identifying main ideas, and retelling the content of texts. One alternative to address this issue is the use of digital-based folk tale books, which present reading material in a more engaging and interactive manner. This study aims to determine the effect of using digital-based folk tale books on the reading comprehension of fourth-grade students at SDN 1 Puyung and SDN 2 Puyung. This study employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample consisted of 70 students, comprising 37 students in the experimental class and 33 students in the control class. Data collection was conducted through tests and observations, while data analysis utilized normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain tests, and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed that the use of digital-based folk tale books had a significant effect on students’ reading comprehension, as indicated by an Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.012, which is less than 0.05 (0.012 < 0.05); therefore, H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. In addition, the average N-Gain score for the experimental class was 0.5075, categorized as moderate, while that for the control class was 0.2110, categorized as low. Thus, the use of digita-based folklore books is quite effective in developing elementary school students' reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of a visual arts learning model based on the aesthetic values of Taman Mayura’s vernacular architecture in enhancing elementary school students’ ability to appreciate and create visual art. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model with an explanatory mixed-methods design, involving 30 fifth-grade students at SDN 2 Jenggala, North Lombok Regency. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, aesthetic ability tests, documentation, and expert validation. The developed products include a local culture-based teaching module, visual media on Taman Mayura’s architecture, worksheets, an art work assessment rubric, and a learning implementation guide. Validation results showed that the media achieved a feasibility score of 92% and the instructional design 89%, both categorized as highly feasible. Quantitative results showed an increase in students’ aesthetic abilities from a pre-test average of 65.3 to 83.5 on the post-test, with a paired sample t-test yielding p < 0.05. Qualitative findings indicated that students were more active in observing visual elements, composing arrangements, determining focal points, and explaining the aesthetic rationale behind the works. This study demonstrates that the integration of local culture into visual arts education can create contextual, meaningful, and responsive learning experiences that align with students’ cultural identities.
