Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to describe the ability of student’s creative thinking in solving open start problems at SMPN 2 Pontianak. Method used was descriptive in form survey. The subject in this research was 36 students of the VIII F class of SMPN 2 Pontianak. Tools of data collection are written test to discover the ability of students’ creative thinking in solving open start problems; and interview to verify the test results. The results of creative thinking ability test show that most students are only able to solve problems using one way correctly, and the way is that teachers teach in the classroom. The ability of students creative thinking is included in the medium category with an average score of 4,16 or 41,67 %. The ability of students to think fluency included in the middle category with an average score is 0,86 or 43,05%. The ability of students to think flexibel included in the middle category with an average score 1,78 or 44,44%. The ability of students to think novelty included in the low category wwith an average score 1,47 or 36,80%.Keywords: Creative Thinking Ability, Open Start Problem

Abstract

This research’s purposes were to know and describe the effectiveness of mathematicslearning uses an open-ended approach on the broad material of triangles andrectengles at SMPN 4 Tebas. There were three indicators that were used to determinedthe effectiveness of mathematics learning uses an open-ended approach, such: teacherimplementation in managing learning, learning activities of learners, and learningoutcome of learners. The method used was descriptive method. The form of researchused was experimental. There were two techniques to collecting data, that aremeasurement techniques and direct observation techniques. The research subject isclass VIIC at SMPN 4 Tebas. Based on the data analysis obtained, the result are: (1)teacher implementation in managing learning catagorized good with average score3,16; (2) learning activities of learners categorized active with average score 78,04%;(3) learning outcome of learners archieve classical completeness, namly as much as76,67% of learners archieving minimum learning completeness. Because threeindicators of effectiveness are fulfilled, it mean that the effectiveness of mathematicslearning uses an open-ended approach is effective to be applied to the broad materialof triangles and rectangles at SMPN 4 Tebas.Keyword: Broad Material Triangles and Rectangle, Effectiveness, Open-Ended Approach

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to describe the ability of mathematical reasoning students in solvingnumber pattern material problems in class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Sungai Raya. The researchmethod used in this research is descriptive. The subjects in this study were 32 students. Thedata collection tools used are tests and interviews. Based on the test results, it shows thatthe students' mathematical reasoning ability in a different category seen from eachindicator. The ability to make assumptions, students being in the high category, meaningthat they are able to write down the next number from the given number pattern. Theability to provide an explanation of the existing pattern is in the medium category meansthat students only write calculations but do not write down explanation of the process offorming the pattern in the picture. The ability to make the conclusion from the statement,students are in the medium category, meaning that students do not draw conclusionscorrectly just do the calculations alone. The ability to use patterns to analyze mathematicalsituations, students are in the low category means that students have not been able tomention and write a pattern formed from an array of picture.Keywords : Mathematical Reasoning Ability, Number Pattern, Solve The Problem

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to describe studentss misconceptions on permutation and combination material in 12th grade of SMA Taruna Bumi Khatulistiwa. The research method used in this study is a descriptive method in the form of case study research. The techniques used in this study are measurement techniques and direct communication techniques with data collection tools including four-tire diagnostic test sheet and interview guidance sheet. From the calculation results obtained that in the permutation material most students experienced misconceptions in item number 4 about 47% and wehereas in combination material many students experienced misconceptions in item number 3 about 24%. There are two forms of misconceptions that occur in students, namely systematic misconceptions and careless misconceptions. Based on the data obtained it can be concluded that students misconceptions on permutation and combination material in 12th grade of SMA Taruna Bumi Khatulistiwa are categorized into systematic misconceptions and careless misconceptions that are caused by incorrect reasoning. Abstract

AbstractThis case study research aims to ind out what are the difficuties experienced by students in solving the problem of fractional counting operations in SMP Negeri 13 Pontianak. The research method sed in this research is descriptive mhetod. Data collection tool used in this research is essay test in the form of diagnostic test and interview. Subject of the study amounted to four student, four student were selected based on the number of mistakes made in solving problems that have been given. Based on analysis difficulties experienced by students in the form of diffculty using the concept and difficulty using the principle. The results showed that there are many student who have difficulty, difficulty using the concept of difficulties in the concept of summing the fractions of value, the reduction of the denominations and the concept of equalizing the denominator of two fractions using the KPK. While the difficulty of using the principle of difficulties in the principle of addition of two fraction, the principle of reduction of two fractions and the principle of simplification of fractional operations.Keywords: Analysis of Difficulties, Solving Problems, Concept Difficulties and Principle

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the mathematical concepts contained in the Malay Sambas engset game and the relationship between the mathematical concepts and the Malay Sambas engset game and to apply the Malay Sambas engset game in the form of LKPD in mathematics learning in class VIII junior high school in flat shape material. The form of research was qualitative with an ethnographic approach. Data collection tools in the form of a camera, interview guidelines, and observation guidelines. The object of this research was the engset Malay Sambas game in Kubangga village, Teluk Keramat sub-district related to playing tools, playing fields, playing rules, and how to play. The results showed that there were 9 mathematical concepts that exist in the Malay Sambas engset game related to playing tools, playing fields, playing rules, and how to play, namely the concept of flat shape, building space, congruence, reflection, mathematical logic, set, chance, counting, and number pattern.Keywords: Ethnomathematic Exploration, Engset Games, Mathematics Learning

Abstract

AbstractThe thesis entitled The Implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning Model in Geometry Subject in SMK Negeri 3 Pontianak aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in geometry subject in SMK Negeri 3 Pontianak. The research method used was pre-experimental design with the research design used was one shot study design. The study sample was 30 students from class XII AP 1 of SMK Negeri 3 Pontianak. From the results of the study it showed that the teacher’s ability (researchers) in implementing learning with the CTL model was very good with an average of 3.84, the percentage of student’s learning activity based on groups was classified as very active with an average of 96.73% and student respond positively to learning with a percentage of 81.17%. 53% of students reached proficiency levels in study. It can be concluded that learning using the Contextual Teaching and Learning model is not effective for 12th grade geometry subject in SMK Negeri 3 Pontianak. Keywords:  Contextual Teaching and Learning Model, Geometry Subject,                    Learning Effectiveness

Abstract

AbstractThis research aimed to know the application in learning using Booklet media on arithmethic operation of algebra in junior high school. The method of this research was experiment and the research design was pre-experiment with one shoot case study. The subject of this research were 34 students of grade 7th A in SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak. The result of this research found that the application in learning using Booklet media on arithmethic operation of algebra in 7th A of SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak was effective in both result posttest and student’s activity. Based on the result of posttest, there were 27 students (82%) that had score more than or equal to 60 points and only 7 students (18%) had score below than 60 points. Based on result of student’s activity, the application in learning using Booklet media on arithmethic operation of algebra in 7th A of SMP Negeri 2 Pontianak  was successful to made students learn actively in class, there were 75% students that learn actively in first day and increased to 90% students in second day. Keywords: Intructional media, Booklet, Arithmetic operation in Algebra

Abstract

                         AbstractIn this research, Misconception is an inaccurate definition or comprehension about a concept and the use of a concept that is not in accordance with the concept that has been negotiated scientifically by an expert from that field, also an inability to associate the initial concept with the next one correctly in linear inequality of one variable. The purpose of this research is to discover student’s misconceptions in the linear inequality of one variable and the cause of it in grade X SMK-SMTI Pontianak. The tools used to detecting student’s misconceptions in this subject are four-tier diagnostic tests while the form of the research is a case study with a descriptive method. The techniques to gather the data in this research are test (written test) and non-test (interview). The result from misconception description analysis that has been done by students found that misconception happened in translation, concept, systematic, and calculation. Based on the form of the misconception that students have, the most is a misconception in the concept. The causes of student’s misconceptions are preconception or an initial concept, student’s associative thinking, incorrect reasoning, inaccurate intuition, student’s capability and the lack of students' interest in learning. Some causes of misconception showed that preconception or initial concept is the misconception that happened most to the students. Keywords: Misconception, Four-Tier Diagnostic Test, linear inequality of one variable

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine and describe the translation ability of students' mathematical representations in the material of adding fractions in class VII SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak. The subjects of this study were 27 grade VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak. The method used in this research is descriptive method with a survey form. The techniques used in this research are measurement techniques through written tests in the form of essays and direct communication techniques through interviews. Based on the results of data analysis, the translation ability of students' mathematical representations is included in the medium category. The ability to translate students 'representations from verbal to symbolic forms is in the high and very high category and vice versa, the translational ability of students' representations from symbolic to verbal forms is in the low, medium and high categories. The ability to translate students 'representations from verbal to image forms is in the medium, high and very high categories and vice versa, the translational ability of students' representations from images to verbal forms is in the medium, high and very high categories.Keywords: Fraction, Representation, Translation Ability
