Abstract

Background. The gig economy has seen substantial growth in recent years, characterized by short-term, flexible work arrangements. Micro business actors, including freelancers and independent contractors, are significant contributors to this economy. However, they often lack the legal protections and benefits afforded to traditional employees, exposing them to various risks such as unstable income, lack of health benefits, and insufficient legal recourse in disputes. Purpose. This study aims to evaluate the current legal protections available for micro business actors in the gig economy. The research seeks to identify gaps in the legal framework and propose solutions to enhance the protection and support for these workers. The goal is to ensure fair treatment and security for micro business actors, thereby promoting a more equitable and sustainable gig economy. Method. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. Quantitative data were collected from 300 micro business actors across various sectors of the gig economy, assessing their awareness and experience with legal protections. Results. Findings indicate significant gaps in the legal protections for micro business actors. Only 25% of survey respondents reported feeling adequately protected under current laws. Common issues identified include lack of access to social security benefits, inadequate dispute resolution mechanisms, and insufficient regulatory oversight. Interviewees highlighted the need for updated legal frameworks that recognize the unique nature of gig economy work. Conclusion. The research underscores the urgent need for enhanced legal protections for micro business actors in the gig economy. Implementing comprehensive legal reforms can address existing gaps, providing these workers with the security and support they need.

Abstract

Modern economic law is very dynamic and covers a lot of things about markets, investment, fiscal policy, and international trade. Sharia principles that emphasize fairness, transparency, and prohibition of usury often influence the implementation of economic law in Muslim-majority countries. The main objective of this study is to analyze the impact of modern economic law on public policy in Muslim-majority countries. Specifically, this study aims to identify the principles of modern economic law that are relevant to Muslim-majority countries, evaluate how these principles are incorporated into public policy, and assess the impact of the application of modern economic law on increasing democratic expectations. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with legal and economic experts, public policy observations in several Muslim-majority countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia. The results of the study show that Muslim-majority countries face various difficulties in integrating sharia values with the principles of modern economic law.  This study finds that modern economic law influences public policy in Muslim-majority countries. It is possible to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth by incorporating Sharia principles into the structure of modern economic law. However, successful implementation depends largely on the government’s ability to balance market rules with religious principles.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology, particularly in augmented reality (AR), has opened new possibilities for interactive language learning. Traditional language learning methods often fail to engage learners actively, limiting the development of real-world communication skills. AR, with its immersive and interactive nature, offers an innovative approach that can bridge this gap by providing contextualized language learning experiences. This research aims to explore how augmented reality can be leveraged to enhance the effectiveness and engagement of language learners in both formal and informal educational settings. A mixed-methods research design was employed, combining quantitative data from language proficiency assessments and qualitative insights gathered through surveys and interviews with both learners and educators. AR-based language learning applications were implemented over a period of three months with a sample of 150 students, and their progress was monitored through pre- and post-tests. Learners interacted with virtual objects, scenarios, and conversations in real-world environments, providing immersive language practice opportunities. The results indicated a significant improvement in language proficiency, particularly in speaking and listening skills, with learners showing increased confidence and engagement. AR-enhanced lessons allowed students to practice language in context, making the learning process more intuitive and enjoyable.

Abstract

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education has been widely recognized for its potential to improve teaching and learning outcomes. However, low-income schools face unique challenges in implementing ICT solutions, which can hinder their effectiveness. This research explores the barriers and opportunities associated with the implementation of ICT in low-income schools. The study aims to identify the key factors influencing the adoption and integration of ICT, including infrastructure limitations, teacher preparedness, and access to resources. A mixed-methods approach was employed, involving both qualitative and quantitative data collection. Surveys were distributed to teachers and administrators from low-income schools, while interviews provided deeper insights into the contextual challenges faced by these institutions. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS to identify statistical trends, while thematic analysis was applied to the qualitative data. The findings revealed that inadequate infrastructure, such as a lack of reliable internet access and outdated equipment, is a significant barrier to ICT adoption. Furthermore, limited training for teachers in the effective use of ICT tools hampers their integration into the curriculum. Despite these challenges, the study identified potential opportunities for overcoming these barriers, including government support and community partnerships. In conclusion, the successful implementation of ICT in low-income schools requires addressing infrastructure gaps and enhancing teacher training programs. Strategic partnerships and policy interventions are crucial in ensuring that these schools can leverage the benefits of ICT to improve educational outcomes.

Abstract

In the context of global educational transformation, the integration of 21st-century skills into learning practices has become imperative, particularly for preparing students to face complex challenges in the modern era. This study investigates the effect of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on the development of 21st-century skills—critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication—among middle school students in Indonesia. The objective of the research is to determine whether PjBL significantly enhances these competencies compared to conventional instructional methods. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two groups of Grade 8 students from a public middle school in West Java. The experimental group received instruction through PjBL, while the control group experienced traditional teaching. Data were collected using a 21st-century skills rubric and analyzed using independent sample t-tests. The findings revealed that students exposed to PjBL demonstrated significantly higher performance in all four skill domains. These results underscore the effectiveness of PjBL as a student-centered approach that fosters meaningful learning experiences aligned with real-world contexts. In conclusion, Project-Based Learning has a positive and significant impact on the enhancement of 21st-century skills in middle school students and is recommended for broader implementation in Indonesian education.

Abstract

Background: As digital platforms evolve, consumer privacy concerns related to online data breaches have risen. Companies are increasingly held responsible for the protection of consumer data. The need to assess corporate responsibility in such violations is critical for consumer trust and regulatory frameworks. Objective: This study aims to explore the extent of corporate responsibility in online consumer data privacy violations and the legal and ethical implications for businesses involved. Method: A qualitative research design was adopted, utilizing a case study approach. Relevant case law and reports of data breaches were analyzed to assess how companies manage their data privacy policies and how these are reflected in their accountability for breaches. Results: Findings reveal that while corporations acknowledge the importance of consumer data privacy, there are significant gaps in their implementation of security measures. Legal frameworks often fail to hold companies accountable for breaches, relying instead on self-regulation and fines that are not always sufficient to deter negligence. Conclusion: Corporate responsibility for online data privacy violations requires stronger legal frameworks and stricter enforcement of data protection measures. It is essential for businesses to adopt comprehensive privacy policies and ensure compliance with emerging global standards.
