Abstract

The growth of Islamic finance industries in Indonesia has shown significant improvement. The increased number of surplus units depositing their funds in Islamic banks has become a significant factor in their trust and confidence in Islamic banking products. One of the products utilized by the depositor is the mudharabah deposit product, where the Islamic bank offers higher profit compared to other types of deposit or saving. This paper aims to analyze the issues in a mudharabah term deposit in the Islamic banking industry in Indonesian Islamic banks. The issues concern more on the profit and risk in the mudharabah concept that has been applied in Islamic banks and the variables that affect the changes in mudharabah deposit product. We used the sample to analyze the issues by selecting 14 Islamic banks in Indonesia from 2011-2020.  This research uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis methods. Several variables are considered the independent variables to know the changes in the demand of mudharabah deposits in the Islamic bank, including interest rate, profit rate, number of office or branch units, and non-performing financing. Our analysis shows that the number of offices or branch units and non-performing financing positively impact the changes in demand of mudharabah deposits, while the interest rate and profit rate have a negative impact on mudharabah deposits.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic law is inclined toward free trade and condemned imposing tariffs on trade with other states. Even when tariffs were imposed, they were imposed based on reciprocity. The Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is a free trade agreement to realize tariff elimination. CPTPP was signed by 11 countries in Santiago, Chile, on March 8, 2018, and this renewed agreement attracted Indonesia to join. This study analyzes the possible impact of CPTPP implementation on the Indonesian economy using the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) model. We conduct a simulation to evaluate the impact of CPTPP on the Indonesian economy. The results show that the implementation of CPTPP leads to an increase in the real GDP and welfare of Indonesia. Also, the study found that CPTPP is beneficial to members. These results generally justify the elimination of tariffs promoted by Islamic law.

Abstract

The role of cash waqf linked sukuk (Islamic bonds linked to endowments) should be developed to enhance the green economy, particularly in the sustainable agriculture sector. This study investigates the influence of Islamic religiosity, knowledge, and trust in nazhir (waqf managers) on the intention to engage in cash waqf linked sukuk transactions for sustainable agriculture. This study also analyzes the moderating role of environmental awareness as an important factor in the green economy. Primary data was collected through questionnaires disseminated to 150 respondents and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS SEM) was employed to analyze the data. The findings indicate that environmental awareness and trust nazhir are significant determinants of the intention to engage in cash waqf linked sukuk transactions for sustainable agriculture. Environmental awareness is also found to be significant in moderating the influence of Islamic religiosity. The implications suggest that to enhance community participation in cash waqf linked sukuk for sustainable agriculture, it is imperative to build trust in nazhir, increase environmental awareness, and target individuals who uphold Islamic values.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the trickle-down and multiplier effects of the Al-Jabbar Mosque as a religious tourism site using a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis method using NVivo software. Primary data was collected through interviews with 20 tourists, 10 local MSME actors, 5 MSME employees, also the food court manager, and Al-Jabbar Mosque management. The findings reveal that the presence of Al-Jabbar Mosque generates a trickle-down effect by creating business potential and job opportunities for the local community. Local Community can engage in trade within the food court, also benefit from special programs like rental fee discounts. Additionally, there are employment opportunities at the mosque, such as security. The mosque also opens opportunities for MSME employment and open service, such as photography. Currently, 70% of the 550 mosque employees are local residents. Tourist visits directly impact Rp144.648.000.000 monthly to local MSME income, assuming 344,941 visitors per month with an average expenditure of Rp344,833 on food, photography, and other services. Mathematical analysis shows a multiplier effect value of 1.22, indicating that for every Rp100,000 increase in tourist spending, local MSME income rises by Rp122,000. Practically, the research suggests that Al-Jabbar Mosque management should collaborate with the local community to develop new businesses.
