Abstract

. This study aims to determine the effect of using number train media on the early numeracy skills of children aged 5–6 years at the Pilarin Kindergarten (TKK). The sample in this study was 23 children in Group B. This study used an experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data analysis techniques in this study consisted of prerequisite tests and hypothesis tests. The prerequisite tests conducted were normality tests and homogeneity tests. The hypothesis test used was a Paired Sample t-test. The data from this study were analyzed using SPSS Version 27. The results of this study indicate that the use of number train media in the learning process can improve early numeracy skills in early childhood. This is supported by the results of the Paired Sample t-test hypothesis test, which obtained an Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) value of <0.001, less than 0.05. Therefore, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This indicates that the use of number train media on the early numeracy skills of children aged 5–6 years at the Pilarin Kindergarten. Keywords: Media, number train, early numeracy, early childhood, TKK Pilarin Kupang

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of letter puzzle media on the letter recognition ability of children aged 5–6 years at TK Adhyaksa X Kupang. This research employed a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 14 children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected using an observation checklist of letter recognition ability. The data were analyzed through prerequisite testing using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-Test with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The results showed that the average score of children's letter recognition ability increased from 71.64 in the pretest to 80.42 in the posttest. The results of the Paired Sample t-Test indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that Ha was accepted and H₀ was rejected. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that letter puzzle media has a significant effect on the letter recognition ability of children aged 5–6 years at TK Adhyaksa X Kupang. Abstract

Early literacy ability to recognize letters is one of the crucial developmental aspects that needs to be stimulated from an early age. This study aims to determine the effect of using Wordwall media on the literacy ability to recognize letters of children aged 5-6 years at TK Kristen Silo. This study used a quantitative experimental approach with a one group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of 25 children at TK Kristen Silo, and purposive sampling was used to select 14 children aged 5-6 years with low letter recognition ability as the sample. Data were collected using an oral test instrument covering eight literacy indicators and analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test with SPSS. The results showed that the mean posttest score (27.00) was significantly higher than the mean pretest score (21.86), with an increase of 5.14 points. The hypothesis test yielded t-value of 6.564 > t-table 2.160 with significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of Hₐ. It is concluded that the use of Wordwall media has a significant effect on improving the literacy ability to recognize letters in children aged 5-6 years at TK Kristen Silo.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the factors that influence the verbal language skills of children aged 5-6 years at TK Negeri Kelapa Lima, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. A qualitative case-study approach was employed, involving three children whose verbal language development had not yet reached its optimal level. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and parents, as well as documentation. The data were then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification, accompanied by source triangulation. The findings reveal that verbal language skills are influenced by a combination of internal and external factors. Internal factors include genetic history, linguistic intelligence, and gender, while external factors encompass parenting styles, the intensity of parent-child communication, birth order, and the surrounding environment. The three subjects exhibited different dominant causes: parent-child communication patterns for the first child, social environment and shyness for the second child, and the quality of the language models received at home for the third child. Overall, external factors, particularly parental communication styles and environmental stimulation, were found to be more decisive than internal factors in shaping children's verbal language development. These findings underscore the importance of consistent and responsive language stimulation from parents, teachers, and the surrounding environment to optimize early childhood verbal language skills.
