Abstract

Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD) in the oil palm plantation sector are rooted in the need to improve the welfare of smallholders through efficient and sustainable collective management. The Petapahan Makmur Sejahtera Autonomous Business Unit (UUO), part of the Sawit Jaya Village Unit Cooperative (KUD), has a strategic role in supporting the empowerment of oil palm farmers in Petapahan Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency. This study aims to analyze the financial performance of UUO Petapahan Makmur Sejahtera in the 2020-2023 period using a financial ratio analysis approach, which includes liquidity, solvency, profitability, and activity ratios. The results of the study indicate that UUO's liquidity is in very good condition, but idle funds indicate suboptimal management. The solvency ratio shows a high level of dependence on long-term debt, especially from replanting funds, which results in an inadequate solvency condition. Profitability shows inadequate results, with ROI and ROE ratios below ideal standards. The activity ratio also indicates the efficiency of resource use that needs to be improved. Based on the analysis results, it is recommended that UUO optimize fund management for productive investment, improve operational efficiency, and diversify businesses to reduce dependence on one sector. In addition, increasing transparency and professionalism in cooperative management is expected to increase member trust and support the sustainability of cooperative operations.

Abstract

The relationship between consumption and income level was reciprocal, where increased income led to higher food consumption, while lower income resulted in reduced consumption. This study aimaed to analyze the relationship between income levels, education, number of family members, and land area in influencing farmers’ food consumption patterns. The research was conducted in Gading Sari Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. A Simple Random Sampling (SRS) method was employed with 52 respondents. Results revealed that the average monthly income of farmers was IDR 7,678,651, while their average monthly food expenditure amounted to IDR 1,714,231. The simultaneous F-test indicated that the independent variables (income, education, family size, and land area) collectively had a significant effect on food consumption patterns. However, partial analysis demonstrated that only income and family size significantly influenced dietary habits, whereas land area and education showed no statistically significant correlation with farmers’ food consumption patterns.

Abstract

The rejuvenation of smallholder oil palm plantations often encounters various challenges, including the absence of farmer institutions, loss of income from oil palm plantations, the high costs of plantation rejuvenation, and the burden of living expenses during the rejuvenation process. This study aims to analyze the financial and economic costs and benefits of smallholder oil palm plantation rejuvenation. A survey method was employed, with the research conducted in Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The sample was selected using proportional random sampling, with a total of 79 farmers as respondents. The data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis through the Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) approach. The findings indicate that both financial and economic aspects demonstrate that oil palm plantation rejuvenation following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) is feasible. The financial investment criteria values are higher than the economic feasibility values, implying an improvement in farmers' welfare through plantation development.
