Abstract

This study analyzes the Malay ornaments in the Asserayah Al-Hasyimiyah Palace, Siak Sri Indrapura Regency, to uncover their visual forms and symbolic meanings. A qualitative descriptive approach combined with semiotic methods was employed to understand these ornaments' artistic elements, functions, and cultural values. The findings reveal that the palace's ornaments feature various motifs, including flora (jasmine, ylang-ylang, roses), fauna (dragon heads), Arabic calligraphy, and geometric patterns. Each ornament carries symbolic meanings that reflect Malay cultural values, such as honesty (mangosteen tree), noble character (a cluster of garden flowers), and honor (wall crown). Beyond their decorative function, these ornaments also serve as a medium of visual communication that embodies Malay cultural identity. This study underscores the importance of preserving traditional ornaments as cultural heritage while enhancing public understanding of Malay art. These findings are relevant for supporting arts and cultural education and enriching studies on traditional architecture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji gaya arsitektur Istana Asserayah Al-Hasyimiah (Istana Siak) menggunakan pendekatan semiotika pragmatik. Dibangun antara tahun 1890 hingga 1899, istana ini menggabungkan arsitektur lokal Melayu dengan pengaruh gaya Indische Empire dan neo-klasik. Melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen, ditemukan bahwa tata ruang simetris istana mencerminkan harmoni budaya Melayu, sementara elemen seperti lengkung lancip, lengkung tapal kuda, dan desain berbentuk perahu memiliki makna simbolis. Lengkung lancip melambangkan spiritualitas Islam, lengkung tapal kuda mencerminkan modernitas dan keterhubungan, sedangkan bentuk perahu melambangkan perjalanan hidup manusia. Posisi istana yang menghadap Sungai Siak mencerminkan kepercayaan kosmologis masyarakat Melayu tentang hubungan antara manusia, alam, dan Tuhan. Selain keindahan arsitekturnya, Istana Siak juga berfungsi sebagai pusat pemerintahan, kebudayaan, dan tempat tinggal keluarga kerajaan. Penggunaan material lokal seperti kayu solid menegaskan identitas Melayu sekaligus memberikan kenyamanan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Istana Siak bukan hanya bangunan fungsional, tetapi juga simbol budaya yang kaya akan nilai sejarah dan makna. Penelitian lanjutan disarankan menggunakan teknologi digital atau membandingkan dengan bangunan serupa untuk memahami lebih jauh dinamika arsitektur transisi di Indonesi.

Abstract

Temuan permasalahan menunjukkan bahwa adanya perubahan kurikulum 2013 menjadi kurikulum merdeka menuntut guru untuk memahami ulang komponen perangkat pembelajaran yang telah diperbaharui. Salah satu perangkat pembelajaran yang mengalami pembaharuan yaitu rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang berganti menjadi modul ajar kurikulum merdeka. Tujuan kegiatan adalah untuk mendampingi guru-guru untuk mampu membuat modul ajar kurikulum merdeka. Kegiatan dilakukan dalam empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa guru memahami komponen penyusunan modul ajar serta mampu membuat modul ajar kurikulum merdeka sesuai dengan bidang studi dan kelas yang diajar.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), highlights the need to strengthen digital literacy among secondary school students so that they can use technology critically and responsibly. This study aims to analyze the effect of strengthening digital literacy through the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the digital literacy of students at SMAN 1 Batang Cenaku. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The research sample consisted of 32 eleventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a validated digital literacy questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed an improvement in students’ digital literacy after participating in the AI introduction program, with the average pretest score of 61.34 and the posttest score of 83.56. The paired sample t-test indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05), while the N-Gain value of 0.57 was categorized as moderate. These findings indicate that the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is effective in strengthening students’ digital literacy, particularly in terms of technological understanding, critical thinking, and awareness of digital ethics and security. Therefore, integrating AI-related content into learning activities is recommended to enhance digital literacy in secondary education.
